WHAT'S...
Black & White and Red all over? (The New York Times ; )
Looking at the thumb, this appeared to be a person walking on the desert floor in a red cape. Now it looks a little like a woman covered by a red cloth as she kneels and bends backwards ... except where's her head?
EYE catching B&W graphic with wonderful rough texture and floating splash of red! Totally groovin' on the abstract nature of this image.

Abstract and symbolic, great composition.

Spooky stuff Yuri. Keep changing my mind about whether I find the figure placed slightly too far to the right or whether it nicely adds tension, but strong imagery either way.

A very strange shot that gives me a strange feeling!
Mark Johnson , May 15, 2003; 10:26 A.M.
Weird. Aside from the great colour, it's so hard to figure out what's going on under the red fabric. Looks like a horribly distorted body under there, but what happened to the head? Is this two shots combined in Photoshop? Anyway, it's bizarre and I love it.

Here I havea problem with the angle and the composition. I prefered the vertical ones by far. Also, the coloring truly annoys me in this one. Regards.

No question about it, this is an outstanding photo that deserves its audience (seen almost half a million times !) and its high ratings, but does it deserve 60 times 7/7 ? ? I see without difficulty the quality of the photo but for me a 7/7 tells me that it is perfect, that nothing could have been done better. I'm not sure (I'm therefore a 6/6 guy in this case)
For me the angle to the ground could be questioned. I (with all modesty I'm not at the level of a Yuri Bonder, I know) would personally have decreased the angle to the ground slightly so that the person were given some height and not only, as now, in my eyes, a red space providing contrast to the dry earth. There is a blue version of the scene in Yuri's portfolio that I think has the same "problem".
My comment does of course not take anything away from the fact that Yuri is a great photographer, one of the best and most creative artist on Photonet.
