Bill and Patsy...

"Majestic" is an excellent description. This young guy already had one cow elk with him and seemed quite proud of himself. Thanks to you both... Mike

Hi Mike, The colors and detail in this young buck are outstanding IMHO. I also like the sloping mountain BG. Beautiful capture.

Mike, I looked out of my window this morning and saw a young deer in the back yard. I ran inside to get the camera, which unfortunately had the 35 mm lens on it (didn't have time to get another, more of a zoom lens ( & actually don't even own a good zoom), and subsequently ended up with just another 'yard with deer pic' , much to the dismay of the kids, who wanted to see it up close...
I admire the clarity and central composition of your "young Bull Elk" above -- The soft grey bokeh in the BG makes it stand out quite beautifully... Lovely soft & natural colors too. Well done! Hope you're enjoying a good summer -- best to you, Marjolein

Hi Mike

The foreground flora and the neutral backdrop are alls that were needed to make this good shot a GREAT shot! Add the pose and the position between the two stones and you have a winner! Hmmm I think it was you that insinuated that I bribed the deer to pose in one of my shots.......maybe it gave you Idea's : - )
Superb Mike!

Best Regards

Holger... Thank you very much. This is from Yellowstone NP where the scenery is magnificent.
Marjolein... The great thing about Yellowstone is that there's no need to try to compose, the view is splendid in all directions. A slight crop and levels adjustments were all that I needed for this shot. Taken with the venerable 80-200 f/2.8, but I had to change lens quickly too. You should consider getting one since the cost is moderate (relative to most) and when not in use it's heavy enough to be a good door stop :-). As you can see, the summer couldn't be better so far (and the gkids are here this week too)... Mike
Richard... As always, thank you. This guy was a very willing model which helped a lot.
Alf... Ok, I'll admit that shooting wildlife in Yellowstone is not the challenge that's encountered elsewhere, but there's merit in being the first tourist to the spot! ;-)... Thanks.
Again, thanks to you all... Mike

He is a young and handsome 'creature' !! Fantastic capture Mike, with such excellent detail. I feel as if I could almost reach out and touch his 'fine coat'. Although I don't know that he would appreciate that! I always am amazed by the 'antlers'. Excellent in camera and editing Mike. You should certainly frame this one! Kind regards, Gail

Amir and Gail...

Thanks a lot. This guy really does deserve to be framed and enjoyed since he was so cooperative and struck a very regal pose... Mike

Well, would you just look at him - standing there all proud of himself! And he should be! You should be proud too of this beautiful capture! Great detail and light. You couldn't ask for a better pose or setting, standing in the wildflowers. Really beautiful work Mike! Thank you for sharing. :)

Thank you for digging down and finding this guy. It makes me want to go West again. It's been about three years so he should be a full grown trophy by now... Mike
