Swimsuit studio shot

Some portfolio shots for a model. Shot on NPH. I always liked this shot and I like it more now that I see it scanned with my scanner as opposed to the contrasty commercial kodak paper proof. This is from my early model work.

The model is goregeous. Th epose looks very natural and relaxed and i also like the sarong... it gives the picture a bit style that makes it stand out from a normal 'bikini/lingerie' shot. However i think that the lighting on the model could be a little more dramatic... not a lot because it would add too much contrast and spoil the feel. Good competent work.

She is a beautiful girl, but there is something about her expression, looks kind of...hm, cynical to me; it's mostly her mouth. I'm also not sure about the eye makeup, but that's less. The pose is great (and her body too :) I agree about the lighting, could be just a bit more dramatic, my guess is that the background alone could change that, not necessarily lighting of the model. I don't do much studio work, so I'm pretty much guessing :) Very good quality overall, keep up the good work,

Such a sexy woman! Such a waste.... Hope I'm not too hard here.

First her expression is not that enticing, but her pose (part of it, anyway) is suppose to be enticing. And her legs? Don't cut off such nice parts....

Seems like everywhere I've been looking recently you see models with very little expression. That's why I like this image and thought it would be a good portfolio shot. You can't drive down a street in manhattan without seeing one of these stonefaced GAP models. This was shot about a year ago.

Also this was cropped to 8x10. A little was taken off the legs so that it would print on a full sheet of paper.

and winning as a picture. A frank and honest pose in this one. Great color and clarity. The whole group of model pictures is really successful.

to Tom Menegatos

you do not have to crop on an 8x10 if you get it with a small border or just print it 8x12 but what ever you do show your entire negitave alot of people shoot and crop not that many crop and shoot.later.337

well done. nice soft light. something about the simple but puzzling-sassy expression that does it for me. I think the left arm should be decapitated at a joint (wrist) and I'd like to see her hand, with long nails extending down her thigh. cheers !!

I think the hair and makeup could be slightly better to suit her body, which is incredible. I'm also not too thrilled by the expression. Attractively posed and shot.

I think the shot is a bit boring. First the look on her face is a bit pointless but what I dislike the most is the background. If you shoot models on a white seemless back, make the best to avoid shadows and blow up the whites with a flash lighting the wall. Or choose an other back ground. I would have also exposed the picture a piddle more. A thrid of an f-stop or a half. Shooting on "invisible" backgrounds and giving your shots the perfection style (meaning fault less pictures ) is a lot of work and I think this shot should have been better prepared.

Any way, the general feel is nice.

If you follow all the rules, then all the portraits look the same. I think the background is fine and the cropping is fine.
