Hi Jan - it's a beautiful portrait - congrats!
You may frame the photos in the future, so it does not melt with the background of the website. Keep on posting. focus

Hi Jan!
Nice portrait indeed! Well framed, good composition. Perhaps the loose hair should not have crossed her eyes, but that would be the only gripe.
When it comes to getting feedback on photo's you'll have a hard time on this site. Most members just rate and leave no comments. Many members only rate their "friends" high - so you'll see plenty of mediocre shots in the top photo lists.
But... if you persist, you'll stumble upon folks that really and honestly try to comment constructively on each other's shots. Hope to see more of you here.
Regards,
Tom

very good
Beautiful model, Hair crossing the eye?! I like it with or without. I would have frame slitly differently, keeping more of the forehead, you probably have another frame like this anyway.
Waiting for more.

One among the very best portraits seen on this site, IMHO !!! Cheers, Sacha ;-)

Empty pose in my opinion. Her eyes are empty. The light is ok, but not really creative. An ok picture. Certainly not the best portrait on photo.net, sorry to disagree with the previous comment.

exelent girl...

Is this...
...Paris Hilton after eating a few Big Macs? Love the pic. Congratulations.
Trever MacPherson , June 21, 2004; 03:42 P.M.
Very nice. Not too soft, not too harsh. I think I might have liked more of the forehead, and perhaps the hair out of the eyes. If this was originally shot in colour, I might have wanted to see her original eye colour, she has very striking eyes, maybe moreso by the use of B&W.
Paul JACOB , June 21, 2004; 05:34 P.M.
Superb - a great portrait! Congrats - Paul
Phillip Filtz , June 21, 2004; 06:15 P.M.
Love the strands of hair dude... ;) My thing is more of dramatic lighting. I would like to have seen it lite in that fashion, but don't get me wrong. I like it as is....
Best,
Phillip

Nice Work
Nice Work, I wonder how a color version would look?
frazer kearney , June 22, 2004; 04:33 A.M.
Reminds me of the famous Steve McCurry shot of the Afghan refugee. Love the way the clock has been arranged and I have to say that I like the strands of hair comming over the eye.

EdithB's Comments
BTW, You'll learn to ignore this rater in time. She is typical of others who have no photos posted and yet they show up in the rating of the very best photos with low ratings and pseudo-expert comments. Most do not respond to such raters.

After months of viewing others...
This remains about the best portrait I've seen yet.
e e , September 05, 2004; 01:44 P.M.
It is a beautiful portrait. I wish the top of her forhead wasn't cut off, the forehead is often the most beautiful part of a face.
TC Reed , September 11, 2004; 02:08 P.M.
Though I'm not qualified to properly critque your work, I admire your use of knowledge in lighting which you bring to your work as well as a great eye for framing in a shot. I like tight shots which sometimes take off the top of a head or limb to bring the focus in more closely to what the photographer wants us to see.
You seem to understand this concept and use it well.
Good work!

Beautiful portrait and model! Powerful, gripping eyes. The head covering gives a level of integrity to the model and the photograph. Excellent!
