Hi Kim!! What channel did you use on this one? It looks great ... almost infra-red-ish. I love the detail in the branches of the tree. I just wish that the mountain in the background was not so dark.

Lou Ann, the ridge in the background is deliberately dark - it wasn't that dark in the original. I wanted the attention to be on the tree in the foreground, so selectively lightened the tree area and also the clouds to give some atmosphere to this. I honestly cannot remember all I did to get this effect, other than playing with channels and I did some dodging and burning. You can see another tree in storm in the folder taken at the same place to get an idea of where I started. Thanks for commenting, Lou Ann.

I think the darkness is necessary for the "storm" effect to be as real as possible for the viewer. The lighting in the sky is great. The tree appears to be shrinking away almost.
Well done.

Thanks, TC. B&W seemed to work well with the storm picture.

Thanks, Sarah. Sometimes I like to go back to "old" pictures and play with them again. This one was taken in the spring this year.

Thanks for the votes - I'll stick with the original then, which is also my preference.
