OMG!
How very cute!
I can't say enough about the lighting ratios in this one- very very good!
Can I take it a step further? (This might be some of what you learn in the ancillary art classes; or perhaps you recognized this already...) This innocent child, in a soft and gentle world- (the WOODen fence, smooth concrete, and diffused lighting-) is discovering a new harsh world- (the bright, bright light which is hard on new eyes, the rough and cheap chain-link fence, the gravely and painful "road" ahead.) Incredible statement in this image. The gate lock is visible, adding another abstract to it. How great is this!!!???
Boy I hope that's your child!
Congratulations- very well done indeed!

Shawn,
Thanks so much for the comments regarding this image. It is really encouraging to me--especially coming from a photographer of your caliber. Kristen

This is plain simple "extraordinary", not just in photographic and aesthetic terms, not just even in philosophical and "meaninful" terms but also as a great visual treat. I havent seen any better child photographs...ever. Wow. 10/7

Wow...what an image. Although I hate to repeat what has already been said, I would like to add that the door to me is a symbol of birth. The little one peering out of the door is indeed very, very symbolic of the road ahead. I hope the road ahead for this little person is filled with joys and happiness. As for you, the photographer: Kudos. You managed to capture an incredible image with all its complexities and technical difficulties, i.e the light and shadow details, the almost perfect lighting ratio etc. etc. etc.
Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful
I ran into your favorite?s folder from your critique request on the forum. You ask the question on how to improve your photos? My advice is take more photos, you have an incredible knack for quality capture, this photo is my favorite. Don?t worry about taking a class you can cross that bridge anytime in the future, for now just keep shooting and posting your stuff for others. Great job.

So just how much fun is this wonderful image! Kristen this is really quite nice. Great choice not to make this a color image as it creates even a more interesting mood. Nice, nice composition!
