A modern day attempt of an ancient method.

Critiques

Joe Marlowe , August 11, 2005; 03:39 P.M.

Very nice work!

I really like the way you've done this...the color, the cropping, the lighting...very nice. She sure does look a lot like Nicole Kidman doesn't she?

Tiina Haasma , August 11, 2005; 03:52 P.M.

Beautiful shot ! I like it! Best regards !7/7

Adolfo Valente , August 11, 2005; 04:30 P.M.

I think Jesse looks better than Nicole Kidman!!!

Haleh Bryan , August 11, 2005; 05:43 P.M.

Per

Thank you! It is always so good to hear from you.

Michael Murphy , August 11, 2005; 06:17 P.M.

This is perfect. So well done, it needs nothing.

Scott NYC , August 11, 2005; 06:51 P.M.

Mona Lisa

With the cracked oil paint effect it seems like a modern Mona Lisa. I don't usually like to much Photoshop effects but yours is controlled in a very artisic way. It reminds me of Sarah Moon. Great Job!!

Haleh Bryan , August 11, 2005; 06:55 P.M.

Scott

I don't always just use PS but I do understand what you mean by misuse of any graphic software and how it can be a turn off.

Scott NYC , August 11, 2005; 07:09 P.M.

Computer semi-literate

Haleh I'm not sure what you use but whatever it is Bravo!! Have you ever contacted Surface magazine to do a fashion submission. I don't know if that is something you would ever consider doing but it could work really well.

Haleh Bryan , August 11, 2005; 07:29 P.M.

Scott

Thank you for suggesting it. I am trying to get as much exposure as I can but I am very picky. I will look into it.

Amar Khoday , August 11, 2005; 08:25 P.M.

Haleh, I like the interface between nature and your model here. I think you mentioned before that some of the layers you use are from nature.

I like the stronger emphasis of here while still liking its more subtle inclusion in your other work.

I really like the combination of the colours, the blue eyes, the red lipstick and green, in addition of course to her skin tones.

One small suggestion - I would raise the lower border to just below her chin. It's not that it's not close enough now of course, I just don't think it would hurt to make it tighter.

Haleh Bryan , August 11, 2005; 09:14 P.M.

Amar

Why do you think a tighter crop will enhance the image any better?

Don Farra , August 11, 2005; 10:48 P.M.

I like it

David Cochran , August 12, 2005; 12:40 A.M.

Nothing realy to add to the comments, just simply PERFECT!

Thank you for sharing

peace

Amar Khoday , August 12, 2005; 01:35 A.M.

Nothing that I can really explain Haleh, just a gut thing. Honestly though, I think making it tighter would only change it a slight bit if at all.

Biliana Rakocevic , August 12, 2005; 04:32 A.M.

Top Classic!!

Biliana

David Baker , August 12, 2005; 08:14 P.M.

HALLEH

Your photo talk about your skill, and your answers about your soul. Keep it for ever.

Andrea Endisch , August 14, 2005; 04:20 P.M.

a living dream

Haleh Bryan , August 14, 2005; 06:26 P.M.

Virgiliu

I am Haleh and Bryan is my last name! You have your answer where it belongs.

Haleh Bryan , August 14, 2005; 06:28 P.M.

Paulo

I am planning on doing this for as long as my creativity flows.

Paula Grenside , August 16, 2005; 02:53 A.M.

Excllent- The texture and pattern you applied makes this a modern fresco.

Haleh Bryan , August 16, 2005; 11:47 A.M.

Paula

Fresco has been always something I wanted to get my hands on photographically speaking. I have tried this method on a few more images which I will be putting up when I am ready. I would appreciate your future comments on them.

Paula Grenside , August 16, 2005; 02:48 P.M.

I will give my opinion with great pleasure,Haleh. Looking forward to them.

Pulok Pattanayak , August 17, 2005; 01:59 P.M.

Excellent art work.

Rick Langer , August 17, 2005; 08:44 P.M.

This is absolutely beautiful. Really a work of art. The fresco effect if breathtaking. I admire your work very much.

Ada Ipenburg , August 18, 2005; 05:46 P.M.

I have nothing to add to all the earlier comments. I love this composition not only because of its fresco-effect but because of the mixage with the craquele structure you use here. It underlines the fragility of the skin. I really love to see how the structure flows over into the natural furrows of the lips and a little bit into the right eye like small blood vessels.

It's a an absolutely wonderful piece of art.

Haleh Bryan , August 18, 2005; 07:23 P.M.

Ada

Your close observation is greatly appreciated.

PERFECT! No more words.

Exquisite

franka bades , September 02, 2006; 03:38 P.M.

Very FINE, pure ART! Congrats.

Jeanne Hansen , September 02, 2006; 04:07 P.M.

Your skill with Photoshop cannot be questioned, but for me, this is way too much Photoshopping and is a real turn-off. The colors are too intense and almost comic bookish. The strands of hair in her face look more like grass than hair. I like the fresco effect.

Jude McConkey , September 02, 2006; 04:33 P.M.

This is right up my alley.. Taking a beautiful photograph to begin with and giving it more emotion, more depth and story with the effects. I love the fresco, but it's those very colors that draw one in. They are the colors of youth and blossom of love. Beautifully piece of art.

John Holroyd , September 02, 2006; 05:35 P.M.

Simply awesome. I was just clicking off the front page and this grabbed me, had to back up and take a closer look. Glad I did.

Tom Leech , September 02, 2006; 06:32 P.M.

Wow. This is very engaging image. The eyes just draw me into the image. The effect adds to the intrigure. Great job.

chris mcnulty , September 03, 2006; 08:21 A.M.

I would love to hate this image as this is not my style of photography, but I don't. It is a triumph in all ways. Although I am sure I won't work ever time I would be interested to see more.

Congratulations

Haleh Bryan , September 08, 2006; 01:42 P.M.

Chris

I am so happy this one did it!

Chris Waller , September 10, 2006; 07:24 A.M.

Lovely piece of work!

Russ Rosener , September 10, 2006; 03:13 P.M.

No Big deal

I'd be more impressed if you did this as a double exposure on film, inside the camera. As it stands, it's a good example of basic use of Photoshop's layers.

Haleh Bryan , September 10, 2006; 04:00 P.M.

Thank you all for...

...liking and disliking!

Haleh Bryan , September 10, 2006; 04:13 P.M.

Jeanne

Those are grass, not hair!

Tito Carlos Maria Sobrinho , September 10, 2006; 07:32 P.M.

Very well done! Congratulations.

Marco Gutierrez , September 10, 2006; 08:31 P.M.

Breat eyes and I also like the hair strands, and other visual effects. The black background offer good contrast.

Haleh Bryan , September 11, 2006; 01:42 A.M.

Marco

Those are not hair strands. They are grass from a floral arrangement above her head.

Debra Trean , January 13, 2007; 02:34 P.M.

creative and beautiful ... I really like this concept..

john daniel navaroo , February 06, 2008; 03:57 A.M.

Sanja Nikolic , September 25, 2008; 07:26 P.M.

Wonderful look, and great textures over her face.I like the strong red colour

Bill Ferencz , September 25, 2008; 10:48 P.M.

Do I Have To Repeat It?

I guess I do...a very, very good picture, in every aspect. The model, the idea, the execution, the colours, the artistic input. Thank you!

Haleh Bryan , September 26, 2008; 01:14 P.M.

Thank you Bill and Sanja

...for stopping by!

Tulay Besli , November 17, 2009; 10:39 P.M.

A very artistic work! Held my breath a second. :)
