Hey Necip, this is fantastic! It's very colorful, crisp and sharp, and the dark clouds above the city and dark water below make for a dramatic emotional impact.

what a beauty!

Hussein Gurses , June 03, 2008; 03:38 P.M.

Wow Necip! This is a really good night shot. I like your composition and the reflection of the neon light on the water.

This is really beautiful.

You know that I really like your work but not this one. The sky expecially -but other places too like all of the light. It is all too unrealistic.

Necip Perver , June 03, 2008; 03:55 P.M.

Thanks Meir but this is as real as it gets no manipulation. Which part of it is unreal?

Marie-Thérèse Faidherbe , June 03, 2008; 03:57 P.M.

10/10!

Bill J Boyd , June 03, 2008; 04:09 P.M.

Michel Latendresse , June 03, 2008; 04:38 P.M.

Tremendous shot of one of my favorite cities in the world. I love the color reflection and the beautifully lit junk. Great atmosphere of Central District with the cloud lifting over it. Excellent work. Regard - michel

Bulent Celasun , June 03, 2008; 04:40 P.M.

A striking cityscape. Almost a time travel... I wonder though, if you'd consider cropping a little bit from below (about 1/8th of the height).

Necip Perver , June 03, 2008; 04:45 P.M.

Thanks Michel and everyone, I loved it in HK also it really is a great place. Rgds Necip

Bulent thanks for the thought, I think the bit of black along the bottom where there is little reflections helps to naturally frame the shot.

Mary Dineen , June 03, 2008; 04:56 P.M.

Victor Wei , June 03, 2008; 10:57 P.M.

Most spectacular!

This has to be the most astounding night image of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour I have ever seen - and I have seen a lot of them. Outstanding - it is so crisp!!

Monte Stinnett , June 04, 2008; 12:57 A.M.

Looks like you shoot everything. Might also look good with an inch off of top and bottom. Looks pretty good as is though. City would look good by itself, but with the boat it really looks good. 7/7

Wow! An amazing shot. The lights and reflections are gorgeous. Fantastic!

Tony DeSantis , June 04, 2008; 06:39 P.M.

This is a wonderful picture. But I would like to know your settings?

With everything so sharp and this being a timed exposure I was wondering how you were able to make the boat so sharp and not a blur?

If you wouldn't mind sharing your technique?

Yuri Zilinsky , June 05, 2008; 12:22 A.M.

very good work ...

Cherlyn . , June 05, 2008; 11:06 A.M.

Hong Kong occupy the 2nd position in the world's most beautiful nightscape & I can see why. Beautiful reflected light on the water & most lovely sparkling city of the night.

Paul Gilmore , June 05, 2008; 12:22 P.M.

Incredible exposure! Would consider cropping out some of the dark water at the bottom, even if you lost some of the reflected light. I would like to own a large print of this.

Kimberly Oehrlein , June 05, 2008; 03:19 P.M.

Amazing

I love the photo... so amazing... well done!

Beng J. , June 05, 2008; 09:39 P.M.

Fantastic night shot !. Not easy to capture a shot like this with still quite good detail of the junk. Good work.

Good Light

Very nice shot,congrat

Diana D. , June 07, 2008; 09:34 P.M.

I would've liked a wider crop (not square), but this is a deserved 7/7 otherwise.

cherry nichols , June 09, 2008; 07:09 A.M.

Wow! I'm sure you had a wonderful time there. You've definitely redefined the "touristy" photo of hk's skyline. Kudos to you! 7/7

Hi Necip

Absolutely Beautiful! Best Regards

Jayanti Basu , August 26, 2008; 01:09 P.M.

Necip

Heartiest congratulation for the award. And a well deserved one too. Indeed, your entire portfolio is a store of gem. Coming to this photo, The light and color scheme is just perfect. Catches the spirit of the city wonderfully. However, I too feel that if the dividing line were in the lower half of the frame, it would have been better. At the same time what you said about the natural frame at the bottom is also true. One solution could be cropping a little bit from down and extending the clouds about a cm at the top. That one and half cm gain in the sky, which is a beautiful one, might have balanced the composition more. But , this is but a small suggestion and nothing compared to the excellence you have demonstrated here. Best regards.

Richard Acuzzo , August 26, 2008; 03:02 P.M.

FANTASTIC! Crisp is definitely what hit me at first. The clouds break is awesome.

Fred Young , August 26, 2008; 07:48 P.M.

Overpowering in a wonderful way. Amazing! The crispness makes me feel like I am on a junk enjoying all of this firsthand!

Florence Yeung , August 27, 2008; 06:46 A.M.

This is really beautiful and luminous night shot. Light reflection over the harbour in such vibrant colors and the glow in the surrounding buildings immediately capture everyone's attention. Great Photo!

Joseph Eustaquio , August 28, 2008; 12:46 A.M.

What lens?

I love the shot!

What lens were you using and what F stop, etc? I see that there is lots of light, yet a crisp image with no blur. I'm thinking long exposure, but the boat and water are crisp. Curious if you will share you technique, settings.

Thanks a bunch. I've enjoyed your pictures!

Jan Folke Rorvik , August 28, 2008; 06:22 A.M.

!

Fantastic image of HK. Reminds me of the cult movie Bladerunner. I think the photo could need a little cropping in the foreground - thats it. Caspar Knox

Mixed Emotions

First of all: congratulations for the general looks of the motiv, the colours and the nice atmosphere. Really a beautiful scene.

But for my taste the technical making is somewhat behind. It's by far too strongly sharpened and it has a lot of artefacts around the towers. The ship which acts as an eye-catcher here is blurry while at the same time oversharpened which makes it less attractive.

As I said, it's a beautiful picture but I think it could technically be improved to make it even more beautiful.

Best regards Michael

Joshua Goodey , August 30, 2008; 08:11 A.M.

Beautiful photo, not quite sharp to my eye but maybe that's just me. Wonderful colours, reminds me of Blade Runner!
