the filtering of the sky is a bit too symphonic to qualify as gloomy... The equivalent of a dark red filter on bw film, I'd say. Not gloomy, as such, then - but very good, indeed!

and speaking of gloom, you should look up the picture called Vanité, by your quasi-namesake, the French 17th Century painter Philippe de Champaigne!
