Play with tones, saturation and yellow/pink quantity and you can transform a picture into a Polaroid-looking thing. Put a frame on it and there you are. So I browsed through my pictures and selected the following images. Most of people who see them for the first time think those are genuine and 20 years old... Thank you for your comments.

Terrific! They gain a complete identity when shown together, that most of them don't have when seen individually. I really like the Polaroid presentation on these, and think it helps elevate them in a strange way. I particularly like the Spindle, Chicago theater, Fox theater, the ferry - all of them are very common shots, but nostalgic in a nice way. When when you see them all in a collection they just really work. Well done, Alex :)

Polaroid Tribute

Hi! Thanks.

This is like a video tour of the places visited.

Good idea. It's organized.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the invitation

This whole project is an excellent idea, extremely original, it proves PS possibilities are endless. However, you need to have an eye for the right Polaroid subject, composition, color hues, and so on, in order to get them right. And you did, no question about it. Crossing the Chicago River, Philadelphia, The Spindle and 6th Avenue are my very favorites in here.

I like them. The do look like original Polaroid print. I have most fun with SX-70 film by utensile manipulation of the emulsion during development to creat an imressionistic painting effect.

A+

I love them all!!! They really do seem convincing as Polaroids...

Great!

I love how you re-invented the polaroid! Your choice of American subjects for this Gallery is great. It somehow fits in with the whole Polaroid concept... Thanks for the inspiration...

Got me there Alex

Ok, I should have seen the presentation first... I have to say that you did a magnificent job here. I guess it is a great study for when we have no more Polaroids. My HOLGA photos are genuine though...;-)

peace

Very cool idea and some nice photos too. Do you ever shoot real Polaroids? If so, I'd love to see those too.

To Erik and other reviewers

Thank you Erik for your comment. Your genuine Polaroids are awesome... I will try to write some comments soon. Unfortunately I don't shoot with a Polaroid camera. I have one but the 'rolls' are slightly expensive in my opinion. Moreover I made that project to convey a nostalgic vision of America, as if I had taken those pictures 20 or 30 years ago. Polaroid was definitely THE technique to simulate it. Also many of those pictures were inspired by the awesome work of William Eggleston and Stephen Shore. As I live in France I see no point to use Polaroid...

And thanks to KentB who lead me to your pictures.

First of all, thanks for the compliments on my portfolio pieces. They were much appreciated. I also love the "Polaroids." They genuinely look cheesy, but in a faux naif way. Great cityscapes as well. Great work. Allen R.
