Photographer Biography
I earn my living from advertising & commercial photography, specialising in furniture, other still life & fashion. I also produce the Photolearn series of photography tutorials and run workshops on studio lighting.
My latest project/expansion is a series of training videos on various types of studio photography, and I'm beginning to realise the value of video as a teaching aid.
I helped to moderate the Lighting, News & Site Feedback Forums here on PN until October 2007 and became Lighting moderator again in November 2008.
Nearly all of my pro photography is now carried out on digital, with both DSLR cameras and a digital back on the RZ. I still use a 5"x4" monorail for some architectural and product shots. I also use the monorail for some of my personal photography.
My favourite camera (for personal use) is my Nikon F90x.
Favourite photographers: Ansel Adams, David Bailey, Arnold Newman, Marc Gougenheim - and everyone else who knows that s/he is still learning.
Pet love: Amateur photographers (includes professionals who think like amateurs and always try to produce their best photo ever).
Pet hate: The auto-everything approach, where people think that their camera is a machine gun and that it can do all the thinking for them.
When I'm not shooting with a camera I spend my time shooting rifles and shotguns - badly but I enjoy it!

I accidentally forgot to show my face so I'd best describe it in case anyone's interested... Thin, 'character lines', glasses. Hair used to be brown, now mostly grey with my scalp beginning to grow through my hair
