Photographer Biography
A native of Escanaba Michigan, located in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I enjoy making images with my Nikon D300, F4s, Pentax 67, Holga, Zero 2000 and 4x5 Pinhole cameras. For the last year and a half, I have been shooting B&W, with a little color Velvia, and Kodachrome now and then
Currently, I am a member of a small gallery in Escanaba - The East Ludington Gallery. Established over 25 years ago, I've had the opportunity to close the photographic loop with some steady sales, which provide for equipment and cover some travel costs. I encourage comments and look forward to meeting new photographers on Photo.net. I try to be objective with ratings and comments, but personal opinions, views and experiences play into this, so I tend to be on the more conservative side. If you're inclined, please feel free to check out my images and let me know what you think, after all that's why they are there.
2008 - B&W and finding the light is my focus. Learning about what a real print should look and feel like.
2007 - Man where does all of the time go. I think as a photographer, I notice time more than I used to. 2006 was an ok year for me photographically speaking. I've learned a lot about exposure and different film types. For 2007 I'm experimenting with Polaroid films and B&W. Hopefully this pans out. Still no digital camera on the horizon yet. I did purchase an SX-70 though! I didn't realize at the time the Time Zero film was discountinued! I'm looking forward to meeting new photographers and exploring different techniques as well as developing my own B&W film. Good luck to all and Happy Holidays!
2006 - Having just recieved my Pentax 67 with 55mm lens, I will be learning how to take advantage of a new format. This year my goal is to clean up the edges of each frame and work on telling a story. Looking back at 2005 I can say that going back to film was, for me, a very good decision. While I learned a ton from my trusty D1x, I never did get the same sense of satisfaction that I do now seeing a beautiful slide. Along with working on my camera and seeing skills, I continue to improve and adjust my scanning and Photoshop techniques. Each slide is a challenge, and a suprise, that sometimes works in my favor. My best effort so far this year is my Early Morning - Little Bay de Noc
2005 - My goal for this year was to work on my compositions and elevate from the simple to the more complex, if that makes any sense. My best effort this year is my Whitefish Falls Study #1
