Photographer Biography
Wildlife Photographer (free-lance)
Professional wildlife and travel photographer for 20 years. In chronological order, he had been a travel photographer for Cumhuriyet Newspaper, Atlas and Marie Claire magazines. He had worked for two years at Gezi National Geographic Traveler Magazine published by Bir Numara Hearst Publishing as Visual Director. Traveled more than 50 countries including Scandinavya, Madagaskar, Sri Lanca, Canada, Souht Africa, Kenya and so on. He had been specialized in wildlife animal photography in the last eight years. Some of the animals he has photographed are African leon, leopard, Cheetah, Bengal tiger, polar bear, elephant, crocodile, hyena, rhino, wild African dog and many kinds of birds. During these photography projects, Emirates and Emirates Holidays, KLM, Sabah Adventure Club and Chevignon sponsored Suha Derbent.
In April 1998 he had been the first Turkish person who photographed Bengal Tiger, which was being afraid of extinction in the year 2000. Derbent had spent one month in India tracing Bengal Tiger and succeded to photograph.
In recent years Holiday Africa, Wilderness Safaris, Wilson Collins, UTC ve Desert & Delta Safaris have sponsored him to take pictures of big cats and many other wild animals in South African Republic, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Kenya ve Botswana.
In July 2002 his first wildlife monograph ?Yüz Yüze? (Face to Face) was published by Is Bank Cultural Publishing. Immediately CNN International made a reportage with Suha Derbent about his succesful book, and this reportage ran five times at ?World Report?.
In 2003 for attracting attention for endangered species, Suha Derbent stayed 3 months in Africa and took pictures and widely published and broadcasted in Turkish Media. This Project was sponsored by BP, Emirates and Nikon.
