NEWS: I am now on Facebook under the name of Byong-Ho Kim.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Born and educated in South Korea. Resident of Los Angeles County, California, since 1983.
My formal name is Byong-Ho Kim. "Brad" is the name I received from an American friend twenty eight years ago.
As a boy, I loved fine arts. I studied painting for a number of years, showing my works at the exhibitions. Although becoming an artist was my dream, I ended up majoring in business and economics, and lived the life of a corporate employee.
Retiring from my corporate career in 1997, I began to see the world with refreshed eyes. My passion for the arts came back. I became serious in photography, attending monthly meetings of the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter Camera Committee. I learned the basics of photography at New York Institute of Photography, and started my journey to become a fine art photographer, studying the works of master photographers at museums and libraries.
Among many great photographers, I am inspired especially by following masters: Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Minor White, Wynn Bullock, Ruth Bernhard, Andre Kertesz, Josef Sudek, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edouard Boubat, Jerry Uelsmann, Emmet Gowin, Michael Kenna, Intae Kim, Sally Mann, Keith Carter.
I approach my subjects with respect, care, and affection. I endeavor to make a deeper connection between myself and the subject and try to convey that connection through the images.
My ultimate goal is to reach the hearts of viewers.
