Only a few hundred serious film users left... apparently.

James Smith , Jan 24, 2012; 12:57 p.m.

Kodak just announced that there are only hundreds of passionate film users left. I'm kind of sad, but I do think it's kind of cool that I buy at least 1/1000 of all Kodak's film output in any given year ;)

Hundreds?! For a minute there I thought we were in trouble.

Hey, he didn't say how many hundreds, right? ;-)

Ugh, either that's a bad misquote on the BJP's part or that spokesperson should really have thought that through better.

I guess I'm just not passionate, but I am a film user.

and how else would they explain their business lameness--now public, official and certified--to the thousands of pissed shareholders? "no market" sure is a good excuse

Just not credible information I'm afraid. I'd buy an argument that the average usage of remaining film users is declining as many will be using digital as well. I'd buy an argument that a vast majority of high volume photographers have long since changed to digital. But at the literal level this is downright nonsense.

Well, David, this is Britain they're talking about. It's an island. How many photographers can fit on an island?

I jest! I jest!!

Well if all the film photographers stand at one end, the other end rises up! Thats why we need the digital photographers of course, to give us a sense of balance.

Actually, there are 101. They missed counting me.

That's such a sad comment on the state of film usage & Kodak itself. Especially, in light of the fact Kodak actually commercially introduced the first digital camera. Alas, they never followed up and the ship sailed
