Aniket, I really enjoy your portfolio. I am trying to reach a level that approaches yours, and I'm teaching myself so it's a bit slow but your work is very inspiring and makes me want to travel more often. I hope to be able to capture light like you do someday. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Hi

You asked me to look at you folio.

I try really to make an honest comment. First let me say that I like the words you had for my images, thank you.

To your images: You have some really nice and strong images that tell the story. Eg.the image at Hampi river. I like the composition and the moment you framed it. Just be a bit carefull not to "loose" the highlights in the sky.

Other images should not be in your folio, they pull down the overall quality. The butterfly image to mention one.

You have to ask yourself this: Which image tells a story, connects to the people, triggers emotions.... and is technically decent. Have i seen it a 100 times already or is the angle a bit different then what you have seen. If you do that, you already have a strong selection. Remember that taking pictures is not only about images, but people measure also on your skills to be able to recognize a good image and an image that is weak. Be ruthless with your weak images and regularly review them.

Another thing I regognized is the time and place to shoot... People in strong sunlight look always akward, cause they have to look in the sun. look for shady places. dooorways.. close to windows, where the light is soft. Avoid to shoot in the middle of the day.. even with an nice grade.. the images still dont have that wow effect.

The last thing I like to mention is the people images: Be sure that they are with you and you with them. Its not so much about the image, but the rapport you are able to establish with the people... THAT will dictate the quality and content of the images. In some of your "people" images.. the people look distant to your approach with the camera.. yet they aware of it. Just take some more time and wait until the initial reaction has settled down a bit and they warm up to you. Shoot through the bad images to get the good ones at the end.

I hope this makes all sense and I'm always open for other questions or remarks from your side.

Felix
