Excellent and..

David, You don't have much in your profile, but if you're not selling these through galleries or art shows to earn a living, you certainly could be. That's up to you. Outstanding work!

Kah Kit Yoong , December 06, 2006; 08:46 P.M.

Welcome to PN. Great to see a good selection of your seawork here. I love the rugged coasts you have captured so spectacularly. Really look forward to seeing these UK seascapes in person one day.

Chapi Gómez , December 07, 2006; 01:05 A.M.

Hi David: Short but wonderfull gallery. I like your light houses and your landscapes. I Will watch you.

David Clapp , December 07, 2006; 05:02 A.M.

Yeah, it's only short because I am making sure I am getting the best stuff I can up there, it has given me a chance to redo all the old material and think about my best work. Once I have finished with The Sea, I will be sorting out The Land. Thanks for the comments so far, really appreciated!

James Lineen , December 10, 2006; 08:28 A.M.

Quality beating quantity

'The sea' folder is an outstanding body of work. Dramatic scenes captured at their most interesting with flawless technique. I like the way you also have time for more subtle aspects of the landscape, such as 'Nanven Stone'. The Land folder also has gems - my favourite being 'Cornish Flat-top'.

Walter Tatulinski , December 13, 2006; 03:44 A.M.

Great Portfolio!

Every one of these photographs can stand on its own next to the best that this site can offer. Well done Sir. Regards.

There is not much else that can be said...

about such a beautiful portfolio. You have done a wonderful job of capturing a wide variety of subjects. You have also a very good job of capturing your subjects in the best light possible. I particularly admire your seascapes.

Alec Ee , January 23, 2007; 12:02 A.M.

Lovely Compositions

David, you have one of the better sites in PN I have seen for a while. Congrats.

Tyler Wind , January 23, 2007; 11:02 P.M.

David--I'm certainly glad that you have joined and become an active part of photo.net because your work and advice has already been a real asset to my own photography. I've learned from just looking through your wonderful portfolio and your advice has been spectacular. You left a comment on my profile and probably don't think you gave me deep, profound advice but the truth is you did. What you did was helped me pinpoint something that I have noticed has been different between my shots and the great shots of people like yourself but could never put my finger on. The thing that I noticed in studying pictures but couldn't put my finger on is the use of a wide angle lens. You are right and I never thought about it that way but it does put the foreground "in your face" so to speak and thus captures your eye. The truth is that I do not currently have a wide angle lens but have done my research and will be buying one very soon. I was told that just having this lens would take my photography to the next level but I thought that was just because I'd be able to include more in my shots. While that may be true, I think it will also benefit me in the way you describe, by allowing me to place foreground subjects that make a strong statement and capture the eye of the viewer. I've noticed this about other pictures but had not put my finger firmly on the fact that the lens could be making the difference. So, to sum up all this--THANK YOU! for helping me to pinpoint an area for improvement and helping me to put my finger on something I noticed, but had not properly analyzed. Back to you, your portfolio is absolutely spectacular! I will certainly leave my comments on some shots--I think I'm probably better at reviewing shots than I am shooting them so hopefully I can say something on at least one shot that will help you. To be honest though, much of your work does not allow a terrible amount of room for improvement! Keep up the good work and thanks again! I'll be back to comment, suggest, critique, and study your work and hope that you'll do the same for mine in the future!

Jason Smith , January 24, 2007; 12:18 A.M.

Hi David

This is a very nice portfolio that you have created here. One of the Retirees where I work is from Devon, and he describes it as a very scenic area. Your photos, in particular the seascapes, are solid proof that he is right.

You have a very good eye, and I very much appreciate the fact that you routinely list those technical details...something that many of us on this site(myself included)should do more often.

Keep shooting and I hope we cross paths in South Devon someday. Cheers, JBP.

Wonderful Work

I just registered on this website today and have been browsing galleries. Your work is amazing. I am in awe of your ocean photos. I was also wondering, how do you sign your photos on-line? I am using a very basic photo editing program (Picasa) that doesn't seem to allow me to sign my pics. Let me know if you have a chance.

Again, great work!

Ian Flindt , September 18, 2007; 05:56 P.M.

Take a View

David,

I came across your exceptional images at the National Theatre exhibition yesterday and, of course, in the book which I bought while I was there. I suspect you may not be able to make it to the Private View tomorrow, but if you do then I do hope I'll have the opportunity to meet you there.

Your Photo.net portfolio defies superlatives. You have a remarkable talent.

Best wishes.

David Clapp , December 05, 2007; 05:01 P.M.

Thanks Stuart, you can always personally ask me about any of them as I am happy to help. I cant make my mind up what sort of photographer I am so I photograph everything that fills me with wonder. I like the lands and sea ones too, but travel and adventure is equally as important to a healthy and balanced brain.

Tyler Wind , December 12, 2007; 09:06 A.M.

Hey David! It has been so long that I hope you remember who I am! I haven't been on PN for almost 6 months now--I've been going through the busiest time of my training and there simply hasn't been any time. Things should be slowing up a bit now and I hope to make a return. I logged in for the first time today and the first thing I did was found your page and looked at your new work. It is stunning as always and you continue to improve upon what I didn't think was improve-able! :) Thank you for sharing your talent and work with us. Congratulations on all the magazine photos, awards, honors, etc. you've been getting--you deserve it. I hope things are well for you and look forward to getting back in touch. Although I haven't had time to burn on photo.net I have taken my camera a few places and probably have 50 new pictures that are worthy of being posted. Hopefully I'll get around to posting them soon. There are a few that I can't wait to show you because you inspired them--I'll let you know when I get them up. Take care, keep up the great work, and be in touch!

David Clapp , December 13, 2007; 06:43 P.M.

Many thanks Tyler, really appreciated. You are a very busy guy fixing people back up again, hell you could sort out my left knee for me if you have a spare afternoon. Great to see you are still shooting and enjoying photography despite the heavy workload, your enthusiasm and efforts and your excitement are literally infectious to myself and others here on Photo.net so keep up the work when you have the time to post and comment. I always welcome your comments. I have still yet to try out the Tyler Method of lighthouse capture, Its nearing its first trial run very soon (I hope!)

Just want to say that your work is really very nice, reflects the beauty of nature, in an undistorted way. I especially appreciate when you provide technical details for your works, it helps others like me to learn from the pros like yourself.

Best, John

Jorge Arturo Perez Morales , January 27, 2008; 11:09 P.M.

From landscapes to architecture

I will not ask if those beautiful landscapes are real neither if they really exist but I will take it for granted as you and your camera must be the witnesses to record and then to share with us.

So from nature-made to man-made, from nature landscapes to urban scenaries you have the chance to view and capture what others will se later-

Thanks for sharing with us.
