Jack! You have a very nice portfolio with a feeling of energy. It sounds perhaps strage but that was my first impression.

Jack, I've admired your recent images, particularly your portraits, and the foggy winter house. Looking at your portfolio, you have a very nice collection. Thanks for recently taking the time to look and comment on my pic.

Jack, all I can say is wow! back - this is a sup[erbly diverse portfolio which shows your real talent. I would really like to catch up woth you on your portrait techniaue - they are quite superb - I'm just starting into that area myself and I'm sure there is a great deal I can learn from you. Your work shows an excellent grasp of lighting - I am working on getting better at this with every shoot, but sometimes situations don't allow.

Once again, I guess it's time for me to say something on my own portfolio..

Actually, the last comment by Ric persuaded me to do so.. :o)

I had to laugh. Thank you, Ric!! But I have to admit that almost all of this "lighting expertise" is just practicing and learning. I've been shooting for many years, but other than about 7 yrs of shooting in studio with a "set" lighting system, (no creativity allowed!!) it's always been with ambient light.. until about 2 years ago.

Most of my flower and abstract folders are just lighting experiments.. as is the "spheres" series. The idea has always been to have perfectly lit photos from the lights and the camera with no adjustments needed in ps.. Control tests.

I've only now finally figured out white-balance control with my lights!! So I'm still learning!

I've been self-teaching through reading, studying diagrams, and studing other photographers that are more talented and have more knowledge than I.. mostly on this site.

So.. I guess I'd like to say "thanks" again.. for helping me grow and learn.. I'm AM proud of my growth over the past 7-8 years or so, since the advent of affordable digital, and in teaching myself photoshop as well. I've seen huge improvement in my skills!! lol!

It's been fun, and again.. for a lot of that growth I give credit to the folks on this site that are willing to answer questions.. and to write all of the wonderful essays..

Quite an impressive collection of photography there. Your talents are not limited to portraiture as many of these really do catch the eye. I do think portraiture is your forte though as your expression of the human form is quite excellent. Definitely some high benchmarks to hold my own photographic efforts toward. Jack ... I so much enjoy your people/model portraits -- and the decision to provide us "multiple looks" on so many of them. The sundry expressions are outstanding and bring a powerful dimension to those frames. They speak of fun and brought smiles to my face. I was wanting to know all these people, thanks to the personalities you captured! Your landcapes/sunsets are gorgeous, your abstracts dynamic, and I salute the elegance I see in all your florals. I appreciate the light play on them ... a nice, nice touch.

Jack... your portfolio is proof of your knowledge of photography. Some people have strong areas of talent. I tend to be more gifted in the area of outdoor photography, particularly with babies and children. Try to get me to take a scenic picture, a family portrait, any indoor portrait photography, posing people or a close-up of a flower for that matter... "forget it", I'm never successful. But YOU have many of these!!! Beautiful portfolio!

What a terrific eye you have. You really understand surfaces, and in the case of your portrait work, what lies beneath the surface as well.

Hello Friend!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. Jack, you certainly do have a diverse portfolio -- there's much to admire.  What really comes across to me is the lighting and expert setup of your portraits.  I think this reflects your extensive professional background.  I can also see a playful attitude in many of your photos, and that's a nice aspect as well.
