wow I am the first one here.

I see you are building up an interesting portfolio here. ( is it Glenwood or Sherry? ) The venice pictures are unusual in that it isnt often that we see pictures of such a well photographed city in the fog. The Doge's pallace is especially moody.

Having said that I feel your strength lies in your still lifes. These are very nice indeed, as are the flowers and motorcycles.

I look forward to seeing how your folio develops in the future and I will definately be checking back here from time to time.

Thanks for sharing your work

Glenwood Sherry , March 14, 2007; 10:42 P.M.

Mark,

Thanks for the comments.

I fell in love with Venice this past winter, in the early morning light and mists, with the sea fog rolling in. I have no interest in creating calendar pictures of Venice; others better than I have done that far too many times. It was the solitude; the soft light; and the lack of tourists at that early hour, that captivated me.

As a painter for some 30 years I consider myself a colorist, and am naturally drawn to colorful subjects, like still-lifes, flowers and motorcycles.

But I have also become drawn to B&W, perhaps because of, or inspite of, the fact that I am a painter, that the medium seems so new to me.

I am new to photo.net, and am enjoying the feedback and critiques. (Though I am puzzled by how a photo that receives 6/6s and 7/7s can receive 3/3s!)

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope that you will enjoy what is to come.

Best wishes, Glenwood (first name; it's a family thing) Sherry

Glenwood,

Thanks for the comment on Dramatic???? (And my apologies for taking so long to reply). I really like your breast cancer gallery, there is a great deal of raw positive emotion in those photos and they deserve a wide audience.

I am going to entirely disagree with Mark about where your strengths lie, for me that are in your people fotos. Keep it up!

Thank you for your comment on my portfolio! You have amazing and beautiful pictures! Wodnerful work!

Glenwood Sherry , March 19, 2007; 11:38 P.M.

Jim, Thank you for you comments; pictures like those in the BC collection reach into a different realm, less of an art nude style, and more of a photojournalism style. The artist only records, not controls, the process. I am always pleased when a decent photo appears.

Brooke, I really enjoyed your portfolio, and am interested in seeing where your art will go. And again, thank you for your comments.

Stunning

Your pics are amazing, particularly the Venice pics. They have such depth, such richness. You have definitely captured a sense of age and timelessness.

Thank you

Jeff,

Thank you; Venice was indeed the most incredible experience, and inspired me to push my photos into a new direction. Quite a beautiful muse.

Hey Glenwood, Thank you so much for your comments on my "top spinning" photo and for taking the time to look at my porfolio. I appreciate your encouragement. A book... well, we'll see. It's an intriguing idea. If I ever do one I'll make sure you get one of the early copies. I enjoyed going through your photos;I especially love your Venice photos. I was in Italy in February and regret not making it to Venice.

Jim Phelps , June 24, 2007; 08:48 A.M.

Glenwood,

Your comments are extremely insightful. I find that you help me to better understand and appreciate what I am viewing, even when viewing fotos that I took and processed. Thanks, Jim

Hi Glenwood.....Wow! I truly enjoyed your portfolio, especially the photos of Venice. I also wanted to thank you for your thoughts and kind words regarding one of my portraits. It means alot. Best of luck and I'll keep watching for your new photos!

Glenwood Sherry , June 30, 2007; 10:42 P.M.

Thanks

Jim,

Thank you for stopping by; I have always enjoyed your work. Many images can be seen for what they are, as they are. You have a gift of creating an image that goes beyond mearly capturing a subject, as they appear to be, and show the depth and the drama within, the theatricality of life.

Barry,

I, too, love the work you do. You bring such a fresh eye to all your work; combine that with the fact that you, it is plain to see, love your subjects, and have developed a remarkable trust with them, in order to get the amzing images that you create. Just like Jim.

Many thanks to you both.

Glenwood,

THank you for your comments on my recent photo "resting on goldenrod". I did go back to my original and cropped it and also sharpened it. WOW - what a difference it made. I appreciate the hints - I'm just starting out in photography and am learning new things everyday.

Glenwood,

Your "Faces of Courage" folder has one of the stongest narratives I have ever seen and it seems to get stronger as time passes. The emotional effect on the viewer is incredibly strong.
