Hi. Cheers for your comment and also the tip re. using polarizing filter to get that perfect reflection in the quadrilateral pic. As a new member of photo.net I have found that reviewing the excellent pictures here, critiquing, and being critiqued has been a good excersise in discovering more what styles I actually like, what works, what doesn't etc. Abstract, semi-abstract, reflections, inversions,& architectural abstracts all appeal to me - and you have great examples in your portfolio of each! So I will keep an interested eye out for your work! Oh and yes, stop being 'lazy' as you say - get the technical details in! ;) I, for one, appreciate them. Regards, Drew.

Outstanding work ...
... just happened to find this portfolio and see that you are a serious photographer with serious skills. Thanks for a couple of things ... first, posting great shots, particularly those of Manchester, which I find very strong. Second, for posting technical data on the photos. It is great to be able to see the choices you made to secure the images ("Arches" for example, and others). Thanks, and I'll be back.

Hi
Thanks of your comment on my picture,I'm honored of your evaluation.
About lens distorsion, the 12-24 nikkor at 12 mm has a low distorsion, much less than the canon 12-22.The difference are that the nikkor it's a professional lens, developped for DX sensor, not a cunsumer lens like the 10-22 canon.
In general nikkor wide lens are well corrected with central and medium spaces, only at edge are evident loss of quality, correcting by closing diafragm (11 or more).
I' hope this comment can help your work

Very amazing and interesting portfolio, love your reflection photo (with lot of dimension). I prefer your aesthetic best rate and I accept that my picture is not very original but make with aesthetic as good i can. it's very difficult to do originality, there is the originality of the subject and the manner to treat it. Good shot

Hello Friend!
Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.
I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.
Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Dia dhuit Jamie, It's a long way down....at times I didn't think I would make it but here I am (at the bottom of your comments list!) Thank you so much Jamie for commenting on some of my photos....it's very encouraging! You have a very eclectic and interesting collection of photos. You are obviously an accomplished and meticulous photographer and I could really learn so much from your meticulous approach...I'm the opposite to meticulous, a bit lazy to tell the truth so, I really am going to have to knuckle down to some serious stuff....I think I'll leave it until next week to start though!! One more thing...My seagull is better than your seagull (I think!). SLAN.....FRANK.

a long gallery...... i needed two days!
well, after have seen this pics, i feel the willing of travelling. I think this means the pics are ok, this is photographie, at last, the capacity to move something inside.
i am not able to use colours. is this that i loved to understand, colour. iso i appreciate you capacity in giving to the colours the same meaning of the bw.
bw tells, colours describes. There is not yet an history of pics in colours that tell a story, so i'm glad to see that someone get this

Hi Jamie and thanks for evaluating my "Chromatic Shadows".
Since I am new to photography I sometimes get stuck with ingriguing shots which I feel I could do something more with but am not quite sure what?
If it wouldn't be much trouble I would be very greatful if you could give me an idea what you would do to improve the shot.
By the way you have a marvelous portfolio with soooo many fabulous shots and I will definetely return over and over again for ideas and inspiration!

Thanks again Jamie! Your tips are very helpful. The shot was taken with a macro ring which means not AF and Olympus has absolutely not manual focus help feature. Further this is a photo of a corner of my room wall (with a shade of my wifes vase) which is rough in the firs place. Ill try bluring it.
Thanks again!

opinion
Dear Friend,
i always follow your work, a great work, so i decided to ask you an opinion: you consider a shot as beautiful independently by photoshop?s operations? There is a limit to define a shot as a photograph?
Many of us look for the best moment, the best light, the best composition to take a real photo; we are wasting our time?
Please let me know.
I have added an example of retouching operated by an expert, Pam.R, in a perfect Rarindra Prakarsa style.
The magic light of Rarindra (Rarindra is only an example of photoshophotographers; one of many..)!
Thank you!
Jamie Kraft , February 13, 2008; 08:40 A.M.
Dear Alberto,
Thanks for thinking of me in asking your question.
Photography, whether based on silver or silicon, is never pure. The creative decisions that one makes inevitably affect the finished artistic product to a similar degree to the subject itself.
So I am not at all against using Photoshop...
..but in this case, I would say that if you want a picture that looks like the "after" version, you should buy a cheap point-and-shoot digital camera. The image suffers from many of the characteristic, overheated faults of this kind of camera. Better digital cameras allow you to capture the whole colour range. A little judicious use of curves on the original version wouldn't hurt, though.

Beautiful patterns
I like your serial of California! The patterns of the rocks are amazing.
I forgot to answer you why I changed and repost my self portrait. Well, it's a long story. First, I love that image of myself a lot. The light beautifully shone upon my body and the way I live is more pure. I believe the mind and the body are closely intertwined, whereas mind governs over the body. Body should be clean and spiritual so that one could feel like being in the most beautiful sacred place. Whether it is on a mountain, shrine or church. Person should feel comfortable in its own body, should feel pleasantly.

Hi Jamie
Thank you for your many visits and comments on my work, which in turn drew me here to your extraordinary porfolio. Looking at such a wealth of images, I'm first struck with the lively colors, sharpness, and very effective compositions. Your subject matter is so varied, which I like...even to the Anza-Borrega desert, where I once camped! So far, I've been drawn to your folders "Inverted Reflections" (where I particularly love "Inverted House with Tree"), "Urban Reflection" (great title with its double meaning), and "Light & Shadow".
Wonderful work. I will visit again. Thank you.

Hi Jamie
Hi Jamie,
This is Rachel Matthewson, Lois' granddaughter & David's daughter. How are you? I live in Southern California and have been trying to look for a job here, but I haven't had much luck with that. Lois suggested that I contact you about some suggestions. I have done some freelance photography work in the past couple of years and am really passionate about photography. I wanted to ask you for some suggestions on what I might be able to do to bring in some income with my photography. I am still a beginner and am eager to learn more.
Let me know if you can help. My email address is r.matthewson08@hotmail.com. I'll talk to you soon.
Thank you very much.
Rachel
