Hi Ellen, Sorry it took so long for me to comment on your beautiful pictures...

I like the insects very much. For instance the ladybug on the white plant. The colour contrast really grabs me. The brightness of the plant in the upper left quadrant is a little distracting though, maybe burning that in a little could help.

There are a lot of centered subjects amongst these examples. IMHO, centered subjects often tend to lack a sense of direction or purpose.

Your use of light, colour and contrast is excellent IMO. Some of the smaller subjects I would like to see up much closer though, but that?s my personal preference of course.

The message your portfolio conveys to me is a quest to reveal the beauty that is so often overlooked in insects. Being able to see this is a rare gift and not many people take the time to cultivate it. I hope some will take an example from you.

Thanks for your comments on my recent upload; it's one of many variations I have began rendering in Adobe Photoshop CS3 Beta (and don't have time to upload) on "Embracing the Cross." I don't at this juncture see the work as particularly creative because thematically I am searching for a nexus that will enable me to bridge metaphor with the reality of the supreme sacrifice of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

There is an ora of peace and spiritual tranquillity throughout most of your portfolio; you have a very special photographic eye.

Most of your photos have a greeting card quality.

I suggest you have cards made for wholesale costs and resell them.

You could then retire from you full-time job if you have the marketing skills.

I have no doubt that you need to apply for the photographer's job when you get to heaven... You have the knack... Not many can say that...

Let me first state up front that I truly like your portfolio. It is put together with great care, attention to detail and, obviously, first rate photography. But, dare I say it? It is almost too much of a good thing. i could look at 5 or 10 pictures of a flower and a lady bug and say: "This one is my favourite, and those are the reasons..." But when I am confronted with 80 flowers and 80 ladybugs, my mind seems too small to absorb them all....You may well say: "Bert, that's your problem" and in saying so, you would be absolutely right. I love the variety in your "single fotos" (although there too I spotted 2 ladybugs) It is after midnight and I fear I will be dreaming of those little cute critters....I had a wonderful time perusing your entire portfolio....Bert

Ellen, I noticed you commented about Myrtle Ba. on someone's posting. If it's been that long since you went there, you wouldn't recognize it now, the way it has grown and commercialized. I grew up going to Myrt. Ba. and I don't hardly recognize it. I live about 1 1/2 hrs. from there. db

There are so many small communities like roebuck, I haven't heard of it. You got to see some beautiful sites in NC and SC. db

Ellen, I was looking through your folio, "Chritian Things" and was inspired to place a quote I cut out of a local newspaper years ago, and have kept; on one of my pics. I have made many Bible page markers for freinds using the words and when I saw your images I decided it was time to place it on a nice pic. If you get a chance take a look. Ook merk ik op dat de "vrouwelijkheid" schreeuwd vanuit je werk en dat vind ik zo heerlijk om te zien... Hi Ellen: What brought me to your portfolio was the comment you left on that wonderful photo of the seal by Biliana Rakocevic. You and I had the same thought, that we wished we'd taken the photo. Now and then, a photo comes along and I do wish I'd taken it and I mean that with great respect. Whitch brings me to your portfolio. What a great body of work you have. You make lady bugs proud! Like one of the other viewers said, I wish I could leave a comment on each and every one of your images. Great humor, composition, color, technique, and thought put into each image. I even admire that you've given that age old "pest" the fly, his minute of fame. You're a much greater person than I am for that alone. Your photos of the mouse are so full of personality as well. Hello Friend!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. i do so agree with you Ellen...! Orissa is a magnificent animal....i havent been able to see much of her, since i have been able to go to the zoo regularly.. ..they resodded the tigers enclosure.....the 3 cubs....Orissa and her 2 pals, kept tearing the sod out ,so.. they had to stay in til it took root... and the 2 siberians have been out.....i am looking forward to many more photo shoots with her and her marmalade sib...! the other sib is regular colored, not to say he isnt beautiful, too...lol.. no such thing as a ugly tiger.... ;-)

when can we expect some more great shots of your little baretailed friends...?!?!

Oh my goodness me, just totally wonderful, only one moue missing, one with a sewing machine quilting lol. I run a yahoo group called 'quiltingmice" and katiemouse is my nick name, I love all these photo's, what heaps of patience you must have. there are many galleries in this site that stand out. some in their gory montage of reality bites, others in evocative poses of the naked human flesh and many others, through a search for glorious light in some melancholy landscape. you are differenent. your pictures seem to celebrate the beauty of being in small creatures. what you achieve is no mean testament to the glory of creation. i like what you do. long may you find pleasure in interacting with the little creatures because that pleasure spreads many an hours of happiness to many. well done madam.
