When i opened this portfolio , i kinda doubted the integrity of PN. What was this man doing in the featured portfolio page ? My God !! did i get my answer. i m kicking my back now, for even having doubted Daniels work. Each photo is a class of its own. i have seen very few portfolios with such variety. i feel blessed and humbled.

Jeremy Preece , April 10, 2005; 05:31 P.M.

Freakin' Amazing

Daniel, you are an incredible photog! I have looked at a lot of photos in my life, and your's just blow me away. You really know how to use a camera. I love the fact that most of your photos are not manipulated. I'm a purist, of sorts, in that I think a lot of skill is required to take a photo that doesn't require "fixing" after it's printed. You're photos stand as a testament that one doesn't need Adobe to be a good photographer!

I commend you again on your wonderful work. I've learned a lot in the past 30 mins just looking at your portfolio!

chris rolling , April 11, 2005; 06:43 P.M.

Life

You work is not only full of life, but a world of emotions where the cameras used disappear in the fusion between you and our world. That's how close your work is to life and no words can describe the beauty in it. I'm learning a lot by looking at the tech details, thank you so much for sharing.

Daniel Bayer , May 13, 2005; 05:13 P.M.

Thank you everyone

I hope that what I have shown you is that we are all an infinite possiblity. We are all our own dream come true. For what you see before you is not about me, it is all around us. It is the next demension of perception. As we reach what some might say is a critical mass, others think we are reaching a "Super consciousness". I believe this, for I receive this light every day. I have often fought it in fear. There are days when I weigh nothing because I am pure energy and possibility. There are days when these visions bring me to tears and send chills up my spine. When I was a child, I was beaten and berated. I turned inward and thought that I was day dreaming, when in fact I was being guided to a place that is in all of us but social perceptions at large have discounted it as being idealistic or holistic. When I was 6 years old, I stood in a field and felt something immensely powerful yet gentle come over me. It told me that there is far more to this life than meets the eye. That everything has something on the "Other" side. To fight this only hurt me. I truly believe in the following:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.

It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Taken from the 1994 Inaugural Speech of Nelson Mandela

I have not been on here much for I have been hurting really badly at losing a relationship I was sure would result in life partnership. I hurt deeply and have sometimes felt that I have nearly died because of this loss. Please forgive me for my absence, I need to heal and grow. When the time is right, I will post again. But for now, I need to take care of my self.

Don't go out and "Take" pictures. Instead, allow images that come from inside to be "Made.

Thank you all for all the kind comments,

Daniel Bayer

Cezanne

I have recently read about Cezanne and perspectives, your monks photograph resembles the sort of perspective created where the figure comes out of the image plane. Great work to learn from.

Amazing Image Composer

First off, I had the priviledge and honor of having Dan be my housemate in ZG before he embarked on his Australian "adventure" (Dan knows why it's in "quotes". It has been a long time since I have seen his images, from his images aboard the aircraft carrier he was serving on, to shots of "Hale-Bopp", the images in the local paper, Aspen Times, which were THE daily occurence on the front page. I am glad to see that his talent has only increased drastically , and have to comment his images/compositions are more focused and dramatic than ever. Cheers Dan, M

the best?

Dan, you have to be the best, then. Everyone above you on the interesting people list on PN take mostly nudes. This obviously says a few things (which we might comment on elsewhere) but simply means that you must be the best. Well done.

Chris Hanessian , November 11, 2006; 12:14 A.M.

I think that Stuart is correct. You have a wonderfully diverse portfolio of excellent photographs. Well done!

Awesome photography. As opposed to many of the flashy portfolios that seem derived from the latest and greatest imaging techniques, your's seems deeply rooted in personal vision and sheer talent. Good luck with the Kodachrome project. I look forward to seeing the final result!

Amazing portfolio!

I'm finally done gaping at the sight of your portfolio... You have so many gems in your gallery! You master so many styles, be it travel photography , emotive portraits or action pics... I'll be keeping an eye on your work!

A master of DOF and the wonders of character

Like people that are charcter actors you bring out the characters in people and things. Oh, I could spend a day looking at everything. Hmmm I just might do that. Consider everything in here my favorite. BUT, Jane's picture my JOY! ~ micki

Still Impressed!

Howdy,

I had stepped away from this site for a number of years and am just checking in to see how it has evolved. Back when I was perusing the site daily, your talent impressed me immensely. Today I was looking at the list of the "400 Most Interesting People on photo.net" and couldn't help but notice you are the "most interesting photographer" without any nudes or partial nudes in your portfolio. That speaks volumes TO ME.

Thanks for sharing your photos with all of us. They are truly inspirational,

Patrick

BTW: This is not a commentary about the validity of nudes or the other photographers abilities. It's about your photos vs human nature :-)

PS: I hope you don't add one just to spite me! LOL

Daniel

On this portfolio I have seen some of the BEST images on PN. The way you anticipate events about to happen and the timing you have capturing them is what mostly impressed me about your work. A true photographer!

To Aron Ralston

I am curious if the photo credit that I see (in the photo album of the Colorado Rockies by John Fielder), is you, the same Aron Ralston? Ironic. I am not very adept at searching photo.net. The onlly chance that I have of knowing that I have connected two dots would be if you would let me know directly. stevenlthompson@sbcglobal.net The reason for my inquiry is for the advancment of my photography. I would love to know of some of your inner leanings. thanks.

Hi Daniel. After you give me some lesson, what to learn and how to learn, what to use and when to use, an honest good advise, I get very curious of your work, and had a look at your portfolio. "?"

Thank you one more time for your advise; Nice Leicas you have.

Best regards; Bela

...

your No artificial colors folder is superb, well done.

Shiva Charles , July 16, 2009; 10:24 A.M.

I see so many great pictures to comment that I decided to leave the comment on the portfolio instead of each picture. Overall I like how things don't appear "set up" and it looks as though you just pick up the camera and snapped away in the best timing right true. Great job.

Thanks for sharing

Daniel,

I really appreciate your special perspective on these images. I refer to the unique talent that sees the unconventional, and captures the emotion of the human experience. This is what separates the artist working with photography, from the "snap-shooter" (with all due respect to Shiva). In any case, please keep treating the PN community with your wonderful work.
