Leo, just a fabulous portfolio. I first noticed the Michigan barn photo- it's only a couple hrs from my home. I am really impressed with your tonal range, especially through water as in your creek shot. Did you utilize an editing program or get this straight out of the box? Excellent work, mmwhite

Hi Leo, Thanks for the great comments on the rural Nevada shots. On your question, how did I get the clouds so low. I chased them. Seriously for 5 hours and 160 miles round-trip. Started off on 95N and made a complete loop around Mt. Charleston. Lotta fun actually..Thanks again for your great comments...RAY

Hey Leo, thanks for all your comments and suggestions on my San Diego weekend photos. they are much appreciated. can't wait to get back there to see the grandkids and do some more shooting. Going to try that b/w shot of downtown San Diego again in color.But next time with a tripod and from land (not a moving ship). Its a beautiful city with lots of photo opps. Told my grandkids next time I come down we will head for the zoo and seaworld. should be some interesting shots there...RAY

Beautiful, super quality, breath-taking images, not only you have the eyes but you seem to be a master in post-edition. In short, first/world class portfolio. You are also one of the best (if not the best) ambassadors of US National Parks, your work is a real inviation to travel around SW states. The way you manage to turn naturally colored landscape into B&W is just a lesson in art. I will come and visit often. Thanks for sharing. (PS : it think it will take me a few days before I dare to submit my own photos for critique... I feel so small !!)

Leo, if I was a gallery owner I would put all of your colored photographs on one side of the gallery and then to compliment them, put all your B/W photographs opposite them on the other wall. You have to find a local gallery out there to display your work. Way to much talent for PN only...RAY

I have always loved computers and build my own, so switching to digital has combined two of my interests, photography and computers. I also enjoy all the challenges and possibilities that Photoshop brings to the table.

Hi Leo. To respond to your question about HDR. I am using Photomatix Pro 2.5.4. And I too seem to have issues with the outcome on images, A lot of tweeking and some will work rather well but, I still need more pratice. Thanks for the comment on the image. Warm regards, Scott.

Well, here it is, October 28th, just a matter of a couple of weeks before meeting you and Ray for several days of shooting in Joshua Tree National Park, and I have just spent yet another 45 minutes looking at some of your superb photographs. Your talent for creating such a magnificent portfolio is really exceptional, I am sure that this is one of the best portfolios which I have seen in PN. Nature is in your blood and your are a real artist who can convert these beauties to a photographic documents . Regarding your question about my submitted photo ,Its from north west Iran near Tabriz in Azerbaijan province.The Iranian nature and landscapes are very similar to the American nature and I have seen many pictures from US which are exactly like this kind of hills. thank you very much for commenting on my "Rossio" (Lisbon series) photo. I am very impressed with your portfolio. Especially the White Sands, Tumacacori and (my B/W fav.) the San Javier del Bac series are breathtaking (wonderful Arizona sky + polarizer + red filter(B/W) ?? = I like that very much). But the remaining portfolio pretty much falls into the same category. I got very curious to see what comes next...so I'll keep coming back visiting your site.

Sorry it took so long to answer your question but I forgot about checking this page. I didn't use any filters at all. As quite often is the case with a bright white dominating the scene, it will reduce all other values especially the sky. I also find this to be the case at White Sands National Monument. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your kind words.

The greatest gift I have ever given myself is my membership to Photo.net. Not only am I learning more about photography (and hopefully becoming a better photographer), but it has allowed me to meet such a wonderful community of people.
