Richard Armstrong , January 24, 2009; 06:17 P.M.

Saad, my very warm greetings to you and thank you for the very nice hello on my portfolio! I am humbled by your very kind note and greetings! You have some beautiful images posted here. My sincere wish for you, your family, friends and all of the people of Iraq is for peace and prosperity now and in the future.

My country is not blameless in this terrible conflict. But, I believe that the majority of the American people wish nothing but the best for the people of Iraq.

I cannot imagine the hardships that you have endured. I'm very sorry for the political circumstances that led to this catastrophe for you and your people. Under the leadership of our new President and hopefully, your government, I am confident that progress toward a lasting peace will be made.

I think that this kind of contact, one at a time, person to person, is extremely valuable. We have many things in common. I hope to get to know you better through our mutual interest in photography. For it is this, one man to another, caring for each other and our world, that will give us lasting peace.

Peace be with you, always, my friend,

Dick

Saad, Thank you for your interest in my photos from the Graceland series. Your question "why is this one tilted?", I don’t have a definite answer for that, it may have been built that way or, it is possibly due to settling. The earth at this cemetery has a loose sandy composition, and this monument is also very near the edge of a small lake. I think it was intended to be this way. It is unique, as are many of the monuments at this cemetery. If you're interested you can view several more odd and beautiful monuments from this series at my portfolio. -- George PS. Congratulations on a fine portfolio and once again, Thank You.

I don't know when a portfolio has made me feel more like I have been somewhere that I never have, in fact, been. Thank you for its variety and clarify. I added "The Third Man" to my PN favorites.

John Kelly , November 22, 2010; 09:27 A.M.

Saad, I just came to your Portfolio by following a link from Ifti, who commented. Turns out you're both physicians. I'm struck by the differences in your work and wonder if there are similarities I'm missing.

It seems to me that you've contrasted conservative Islamic women with Western women, age with childhood, antiquity with high technology.  That is to say, I think you may have done that consciously and intentionally, either when photographing or when posting to your Gallery.  Does that seem valid?

I'm particularly amused by your photo of the National Geographics...which seem related to my "contrast" comment, above.

The photographs I most admire are your simple portraits.

Raid W. Amin , November 26, 2010; 11:01 A.M.

Well Done

Your portfolio looks very interesting, Saad.

Hello Mr. Salem

Thank you for your comments.  I recognized your  name  . I am a big fan of your work.My favorite artist is Rene Magritte, the Belgium Surrealist. I actually made a life long quest of visiting  Magrette's home city, Brussels, last year. I even visited the new Magritte Museum. Before I left I E-mailed Both Ben Gossens and Patrick Desmet. I was wanting to meet them, but could not meet them because of time issues. Thanks for your comments , keep doing the fine work , I love your Photos

Mosul House group...

It's painful to think about the ongoing disaster that's been imposed on the people of Iraq by outsiders and by themselves.  The Mosul House images remind me of the homes of Hispanic and Native American people (Indians) here in Southwestern US, people who are living relatively comfortably even when in poverty.  Here we also have restored historic displays, complete with elderly people representing appropriate cultures. Do you have that sort of thing in Iraq? Your Mosul House images remind me of those of another disaster, the aftermath of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Your Mosul House images would print beautifully.

Maria Kowalska , April 20, 2011; 03:38 P.M.

On Mosul photos

I love your photos of the old house in Iraq. It's like watching thousands years of culture now falling apart. What a pity!

Thanks for sharing! Maria Kowalska

Hello

Thank you for your comment on my photo "Three Men". It is surprising how many excellent photographers are there; yet we only come across them by chance. Your comment led me to your portfolio. I must confess that it is quite big and I have not seen most of your photos in detail. Having gone through a few in a bit of depth and others more casually, I have just been through a learning experience. Your love for your roots come through in your photos. We have similar professional backgrounds but I see you have been able to fine tune your photography so very well; certainly much more than I have been able to achieve. Hope to return soon and see the rest of your photos and learn further. Regards.

Stephen Penland , December 01, 2011; 01:09 A.M.

Saad, I've enjoyed your portfolio and the diversity of photographs immensely.  Too many of us Americans have only a one-dimensional view of Iraq fed to us by the evening news, and your photographs help us to overcome that limitation.  Wishing you, your family, and your neighbors the best in the coming year.

Rajnish Duara , December 08, 2011; 08:55 A.M.

Thanks

Thanks Saad for your comment in one of my photograph. You have a wonderful portfolio. Shall visit you often.

Educational Portfolio

Saad- Your portfolio is stunning. I think you have a wonderful eye. Not only are the images well composed, but for an American, they portray a life about which I know very little. I can only imagine that life is difficult with the military conflicts ever present. Nonetheless, you let beauty emerge from the conflict. I would truly appreciate your opinion of my portfolio.

Saad, thank you for your recent comment on my Dickie beach photo. You have a great body of work here, nicely arranged and very diverse. The word that comes to mind is skill, your skill as a photographer is evident in what is presented here. Best regards and all the best for 2012.

I had a stoke in feb 2007. At the moment I have no voice so cannot speak and as I only have use of one arm, writing is slow and difficult for me. But I love reading your messages, please keep them coming! :----]]

An incredible study of disillusioned and unhappy people Saad. Well done. Regards. Bob

Bachir Taouti , May 03, 2013; 08:41 A.M.

Saad,
What I like most about your photographical work is your sensibility and the purpose of the messages you try to convey. Through Mosul it's about the sadness of once upon a time a rich cultural patrimony today in ruins. The first monochrome portraits in your portfolio are very touching and quite tough. You also have so many photos on cultural diversities admirably and skillfully taken. Your work in all is technically excellent and really inspiring. Best Wishes,

Robert Semnic , May 04, 2013; 05:28 A.M.

fine portfolio, especially Mosul. Thanks for comments on my photo
