Hello Jeffrey, I love the "civil war" shots. It looks like you could be an excellent war photojournalist!

Thank you , As a matter of fact i am outfitting myself to look like mathew B brady who was a famous civil war photographer who had teams taking shots of battles all over , then i plan on taking some key on field battle scenes ,,,we'll see what i can do in the future but am considering the possibilty of publishing a book of reenactors at end of year ...

thanks for the compliment , I hope to go to gettysburg this year , (they have 40,000 reenactors largest event in country , and as a reenactor ill be able to shoot on the field as they march towards the norths lines ...

a superb collection of birds, i can see why it's in your best category

You were inquiring about my rating methods. I use several standards to rate images, but first I must say that I RATE THEM and CRITIQUE them. This site used to be very different than it is now. Everyone that submitted images rated the general box for at least a half hour a day, which meant that you had your ten ratings in less than an hour so you could see a general average, now I see noone rates, but everyone wants to submit to be rated. I rate based on several things, color accuracy or the use of it, composition, exposure, clarity meaning is it in focus, sharp in the details where it should be, and blurred in the right places. I also keep in mind if the image is marketable, is it something that after ten years you would throw out or have it on a wall or in a book as a cherished piece of work. Hope that helps.

Delightful, varied portfolio. As much as I like to see the setting in which a subject is found, I find your shots where the subject is isolated to be the most intriguing. Absolutely one the best photo study of birds on the internet. If I could rate your portfolio it would have to be a 7/7. The range of species you have covered is phenomenal. Thanks for your comments on my Tiger Shoot. I just joined a local photography club and this is a new experience for me. Thought I need to broaden my horizon and shoot something other than Egrets. The egret at my local park is so tame he will eat fish out of your hand, but I have lots of pictures of him as you know. It was good to shoot tigers this morning.

Thats quite a sequence you have for the GBHs Jeffery. I've seen them get in some pretty horrendous fights, but not to this degree. Quite impressive. I'm guessing its like a dominance duel or else they are fighting over a chick. You know a guy thing.

from what the guide told me , the older aggressive one believes he owns the fishing rights to the area near that dock ....the younger one got hurt real bad and had i not gone down next to water near end of clip ,bigger one would have killed the younger one , although he may be done for anyway as he was staggering and not looking very good afterwords , that least bittern looks very colorful so far I have not scene one but who knows ...with the new walking path being put in that will allow acces to areas not currently availble ....thanks for the tip ill keep an eye open

Amazing! GBHs are the T.Rex of the marshlands. I have seen them eat other birds, fish, snakes, rats, frogs, and now, each other. From the images, one is going to have a heck of a sore throat. The sequence is a great documentary and the image noise is understandable, considering the lighting. Nice work.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on "Wild Ginger." My wife took a shot of the sign in the parking lot, so we would remember. Wives think stuff like that is important. If you ever get up to St. Augustine, stop at the Alligator Farm. There is rookery there that allows you to get within a couple of feet of the nesting birds. We spent the whole day. I came accross your work a few times before and I was amased at the quality of the pictures, especially those of the birds. I even thoought the the scenes (birds on the beach) were prearranged and fake because of the quality of it. I was in disbelief of how you could actually capture shots like that.

This summer, I was in Daytona Beach in Florida for two weeks and I saw with my own eyes the seens that you ave been able to catch on photos. I knew then that your work was of superb quality. I even tried with my Canon Powershot S5IS to catch a few photos but I could'nt.

So I can say now that you truely have a talent and that you photos are absolutely great.

I have noticed most my photos you rate you rate as 6/6 and on you bio you say "6-6 means I believe it will and can be sold on a varity of products at a profit" do you mind telling me where I could sell these photos I just started this as a hobby but if I could actually sell a few of them I would be extremly happy about that.

Jeffery, Thank you for your interest in some of my photos. I have just recently become a member of PN, although I have viewed photos here for several years. I have viewed much of your work and marvel at your skill and experience. I am just an old timer who has enjoyed photography for many years, but, by no means an expert. I note that one of your favorite subjects is water fowl. I live on a golf course lake which is frequented by egrets, blue herons, geese, ducks and other species of water fowl and I enjoy photographing them. Again, thank you for your observations, I respect your expert evaluation of my photos.

First of all, i would like to congratulate you for your success on photo.net. Most of your photos are given high rates from other photographers. But i'm a little bit confused about some of your exhibited work. I'm fascinated by most of your work where you are very good in capturing birds. Well done. But i'm not so sure about other photos-specifically those where you literally cut and copy birds on sunset/sunrise scenes. They look very obvious that the pictures where not taken there and then but where edited. I feel that manipulating nature photography is not artistically and photographically good. Always in my opinion. I'm telling you this with no offense.I feel that we can learn from each other on PN.
