I really am impressed by your photography. When looking at your portfolio, it is quite clear that you prefer the portrait view rather than landscape ... is there a story here ... or is this coincidence?

Jim to answer your question..no story, I just love how a vertical shot can include more great foreground all the way to distant background whitout having to always lie on your stomach. But lately I have noticed that too so I am always trying to capture both now..I have to be more versatile.

How do you meter your shots? Is there some sort of calculation or is it just experience? I love your portfolio by the way!!!

Thank you all for the great comment, to answer your question Jarryd I guess it is experience there is no real calculation done apart from anaylsing the scene and taking a reading from different area to see the difference of exposure.

I don't know what to say here as these lanscapes are flawlessly done. One thing which is amazing to see is how you frame your vertical shots as composing the vertical lanscape is not only difficult but also the reults are not so aesthetically appealing. How did I never comment on this one?! WOW! Simply one of the very best images I've ever seen from anywhere! Even more special after standing there myself to witness the magic beauty. You did a great job pulling out the blues in that usually mudddy, carp infested river. The lush greens contrast the harsh desert sandstone beautifully. Flawless. Everything totally flawless!!!! 7/7

great idea, the BLACK frame thing, since americans are so used to seeing things framed in black, i.e. the TV box. thats the best way they can perceive things visual. We are predisposed to see things through the frame of a tv box, arent we ? we are pathetic, HA !!!!!!! :)

Some of the images are either too saturated or the split density is overdone( he embarkation line is too obvious or the top edges are vingetted), or both. That said, many of the pictures are excellent. Keep up the good work! Cheers!
