Thank you for taking your time to comment on my photo. The reason he is wearing earplugs is so that he can protect his hearing. The type of music his band plays is loud, and with consistent practices/shows he doesn't want to ruin his hearing.

Happy new year and thaks for your comment on 'mirror'. It is a very good idea to fit in another picture inside the mirror. Then we will have a totally different photo with different theme. I should say I like the idea.

beautiful portfolio. Especially enjoyed the Nosy Be photos. I notice you use the R1. I've been thinking about buying the same camera. What makes me doubt is the limited rotation of the swivelscreen. Any user experience you would like to share (hope you don't mind me asking) ?

This is all about photography!! Not masked by framing. Not masked by pretentions. Not masked by excuses about difficulties in sorts of subjects and scenes. This is intuitive, spontanious photographing from a very talented man who has nothing to be proud of. And the most impressive, his loving and respecting people. He is living in South Africa, just a coincidence..?!

Peter,
The feeling that I got most by scrolling your 'folio is humanity. I coudn't be more impressed by the simple way that you capture all these human beings and bring out of them their beauty. Well, I said simple but that is only achievable by a few, as yo, that have that gift.
Congrats for such an impressive work. Regards, ricardo
Sudha Sendgupta , July 27, 2007; 10:39 A.M.
Wow!
A creator in true sense. The photographs are the paintings in series which the artist has portrayed in his canvas in the form of a portfolio. Regards, Sudha.
Pascal Agneray, September 24, 2007; 06:33 A.M.
Your portfolio is that of a conscious and deep man Peter. Some portfolio read like a summer vacation, a trip at the mall, a study in textures or shapes or lights. Yours read like a deep journey in the human soul. Almost overpowering. Your bio statment about intelligent life is so dark, so funny and so true. Hey, by the way, what's with the weird rotating enlightened but creepy and fantastic looking 3 headed creature Leonid left on your portfolio. Man o man, talk about a present! Flashy enough for you? Some people don't get enough attention I guess. It's a weird world out there, and I know that you know about that.

interesting
your madagascar and nosy be sets are most interesting to me, and I am not sure why. Aesthetically they are beautiful images, but I am looking for a story. If there is none then that is fine too, but very interesting work, these people trusted you, you can tell.

Kedves Peterke,
See you are fond of photographing people. Your images of all these people and travels are a fascinating lot. The expressions, the very different world they represent, is intriguing.
Also you have many imaginative, creative images.
One reason that these captivates me, may be that I take the same kind of images. But not quite as exotic as yours.
Loved the tour of your portfolio. No doubt you are very talented.

From your excellent portfolio I deduce you are a very creative person always in need of searching for new ways of expressing yourself. I particularly liked In the Broken Time Factory, Old Car in the Bush, and In the Bedroom (2).

Peter,
Wow- your Madagascar work is exceptional - what a spectacular collection of portraits! Those are the type of images I lie awake at night wishing I could do. They make a very powerful collection - very inspiring - I am glad I came across your eye farm photo, which led me to your work - most excellent!

I couldn't pick my favourite pick from your portfolio, because they were all so amazing..especially those portraits of children. Did you know them well? It seems like you did. They dare to look at the camera and look like they're comfortable with it. With you. You have a good eye. I see you like the same kind of compositions than i do, at least what comes to portraits. I'd appreciate if you'd check my portfolio and tell me what you think..it would be an honour.

Hard to beat Madagascar, South Africa and Kolkata for honing one's photographic skills. You've certainly distilled the essence of each location. Magnificent street portraiture. Do you have a favorite lens that you use for your portraiture work? Do you mind sharing what it is? I look forward to seeing more. GJ

An arm and a leg
Thank you everybody!
Gungajim I always use the Canon 24-105 mm lens.It is the "standard" lens that is sold with the Canon 5D. I have many more lenses but I wish I never bought them coz I never use them and they cost an arm and a leg. I like to travel light and that lens plus maybe sometimes my wide angle (compact anyway) lens is all I need.

Photography makes me see the world rather than just look at it.
I love your bio quote, and your images show that you did more than just look at people and things and angles. There is a certain 'style' which I think you can call your own. This is something that I (and many other photographers) would be proud to have...or attain! I particularly enjoyed your Kolkatta images.
I wish I was taking photographs when I spent time there...(sigh!)
best wishes ~ mike

Peter, you have an amazing collection of well conceived and beautifully executed work. It is very impressive. You have a talent for creating a strong sense of isolation and despair in your portraits of impoverished people. Some of these are so moving that they make me feel guilty for having such an affluent life. I think you have done some very important work. Best wishes, Linda
