Andrew, Have fun with the D50. I have a number of old MF AIS lenses that I love so I will use them with the D50. The flower and leaf shots were both taken with AIS lenses. I did just buy the Tokina 12-24 so when I have some spare time I'll get a few shots and let you know how I like it.

Yes I have traveled a little. (o.k. - actually quite a bit). It looks like you are in some nice locals as well. I like the Architecture shots. Happy Holidays!

Andrew, I *really* enjoyed looking at your portfolio, thanks for finding me which is how I found you! Docmentaries, especially nice. Are the portraits your wife and daughter?

When I look at your pictures, try catch what I "see" and "hear", its rhythm. You seem to catch patterns & their rythym. This might make some sense to the musician in you?! I wonder if you also paint colors with your music? :-).

Hard on the heels of that, is color. Your colors are just gorgeous, like a golden mist, yet the images are sharp and approachable for me. Beautifully considered pictures. Someone else commented "calm", I would go as far as to say serene. It feels to me that there is an inner, meditative balance to them. Thank you for sharing your work, I appreciate it.

facinating portfolio -somany flowers in one place - very very beautiful!
I also have a flower folder - check it out when you have time.
I feelthat there is no point in converting flower shots into B&W - cause... the main beauty of a flower is in it's unique coloring (althogh shape also matters). IMHO...
Maybe you can come to Mayapur one day - we have lots of flowers and nature staf for you o photograph.

I always try to respond to those people who are good enough to critique my photos, but the more photos I post, the more people I have to respond to(it grows almost exponentially) and I'm a worse typist than I am a photographer, hence my tardy response. But, didn't I just save the very best wine for last! I have experienced some excellent photographers on P.NET. but seldom ,if ever, have I been stopped in my tracks(ambushed you might say) by a portfolio of such outstanding excellence! And this after only a fairly cursory viewing! Andrew, your work is quite outstanding and a real inspiration to 'plodders' like me. I love the outdoors and live in an area which, in the Spring especially, just abounds with wonderful plantlife........and every year I intend to get serious about my plant photography...and every year I DON'T. But I retired last May and for certain, next year Andrew, I'm 'a comin' ta get ya' with my flower shots! I can't think of enough superlatives to address your work with , suffice to say I have been well and truly GOBSMACKED! Dia dhuit Andrew, I can't thank you enough for taking the trouble to demonstrate how my photo could be improved ....and it certainly is improved in your expert hands. The thing that I love about your work Andrew, is that everything in your photos seems to be so well considered. I don't know if this is something which you do instinctively, or if you actually spend some time contemplating each photo , but however you do it Andrew, you do it beautifully. I, on the other hand, am too lazy and impetuous. I couldnt be bothered using a tri-pod when I know well that I should, and then wonder that my images are not as sharp as they could be! Then I bang it up on the site and see what happens . Not a great way to go about things so I am going to have to learn to walk before I can run! The 'flower and fly' photo is a perfect example...I noticed the lower flower was out of focus, but I didn't give this photo the attention it deserved.....you did, and the improvements are only too obvious. I will try to be more mindful in future and just spend some time looking with my brain as well as my eyes. Thank you so much Andrew. Slan.....FRANK.

Hello Friend!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night 11-7-07 and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace.
