paradise
You must live in Paradise. And it took brass b---s in the current medicolegal environment to take those ER panoramics. They make for compelling documentary images. I'm surprised they let you get away with it, but I salute you.
You have a great eye Mark.

thanks everyone.
michael s. - paradise it is. i live in a park (largest wilderness east of the mississippi) that is larger than the state of vermont. half of the park (public land) is protected by the new york state constitution as "forever wild". the other half (private land, villages and hamlets) is controlled by the Adirondack Park Agency which enforces very strict land use regulations, all of which are designed to protect the natural habitat.
the ER photos were taken as part of a "day in the life of an urban hospital" book project for the hospital itself so permission wasn't a problem.

Mark you are a master of recording the sublime.
Your understated style gives your photographs a certain power and presence. If that is not a contradiction of terms.
Great work.

What do you mean krappy kamera??
Hi there,
I love photography and i am always looking around at other peoples work to learn. I was looking at your folio, and i see you've titled one section of it, 'Krappy kamera'. Now when i look closer i realise you have used the one and only, glorious Holga camera. Am i right? Now why call this crappy? I know they are made of plastic and in reality they are just a cheap chinese toy but Holgas have so much artistic potential you dont know! Just go to this website http://www.lomography.com/ and look around, you will find holga camera shots, like the ones you've taken with a so called 'krappy kamera' can actually be works of masterpieces. I have one of these cameras myself, i just love what is possible. I also like what you've taken so far with the camera too. It has that surreal, mystical feel to it doesn't it?

krappy kamera
Simona, thanks for the feedback and comments.
The title "Krappy Kamera" actually is borrowed from the title of a well known annual photo competition. All photos must be made with a cheap FILM camera.
My KK pictures are actually made with a very cheap - no focus, no exposure control other than "auto", low res - digital camera. The results are very Holga-like.

Hi Mark, I discovered your photos after your blog. You have such a huge collection, I need to stop and watch. I have liked what I have seen, very personal and not closed to a fixed theme. Very interesting images. I will write you more on them.
