Hi Francisco.....You have a great portfolio here,I have browsed through them and the ratings you have got on many.Its ridiculous, you are right in everything you say.I can,t figure it, I have had over 40 million hits on my shots this year,and I still also get many 3/3,s, usually the first day,even on shots that are in digital photography magazines and text books.I am quite sure I will not be renewing my subscribtion.If you look carefully you will see that a lot of the very good photographers have gone from this site.I have had many emails from others who are very dissastified with the rating system on the site.You should try PHOTOGRAPHYBLOG.COM or P-Base and flicker.Anyway I really like your work and as I said the ratings on many of them are just ridiculous.

Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
I have non photographic question to ask you. 2 days ago I received an orchid that needs saving. It looks like it was over watered for some time. I replanted in orchid mix and put next to south window. It has 3 or 4 blooms, but the petals are wilted and droopy, the leaves are soft as well. I love to photograph orchids, but never had one at home. Any suggestions and what should I do with my sad flower? Any idea for how long it will stay this way looking? I cannot wait for it to get better so I can take some shots.

Thanks Ruta for posting your question on my portifolio. Concerning that, I would say that is difficult to say what happened with your Phalaenopsis just looking the wilt flowers, but I would say that the problem occured exactly because you did the transplant to another mix, just at the time of flowering. We can'nt do that when the plant is flowering. The flowers that are already wilt they will not recovery. I hope the new blooming will come beautiful. With this type of orchid you don't need to put to much water, but just twice a week and just check if the mix is not to dry. These type of flowers (Phalaenopsis) they remain beautiful for months. It is a pit that yours are already wilt. I hope the plant will survive and new blooming will come, next year. Cheers.

Thank you for your answer to my questions. I had to replant the orchid as I got it without any soil or pot. Right now it has 4 blooms, but there are 5 or 6 buds - I hope at least they will be fine. Thank you for the name of the orchid, I had no idea what it was :)

I could see in your diverse portfolio, a collection of orchids.They have been my passion too and i grow them in funny climate of mumbai, which is a rare experiement. I had half a dozen blooms.not bad.

Reading the columnaire on PS - Juan Santana and friends - Digital and classic are miles apart with a clear difference in who accept the responsibility for doing what. In India its becoming day by day to get films and good labs to process. The prowess of computers cant be stopped and digital, be it photo, printing or otherwise will keep progressing and we will be the chooser as in music ,,,between high end ditial setup or old classic valve amps and long plays.

Interestingly I did my company's calendar titled"Obsession with orchids" 2007. Some of the images are on my page and it would be a pleasure to welcome you there!

Hello Friend!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night 11-7-07 and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. Francisco, yes I do live in New Zealand, in the Marlborough Sounds, have been here for close to 30 years now. Have a look at where we live if you like, www.ngaiobay.co.nz, have had a look at some of your flowers and your images of New Zealand. You were lucky with the weather in Fiordland, I know people that have gone there 3 or 4 times trying to get decent weather and never have. I shall come back here again, in fact I shall mark you as one of my interesting people, still have not quite figured out what that means, but to me it means when I forget your name, all I have to do is hit my interesting people folder and there you are. I second it. The folio is incredible. I am drawn very much to the black and whites and and a little dismayed that you do them better than I. In college 50 years ago I studied South America Orchids and their special symbiotic relationship to bee species. If the bee goes so goes the orchid (that is what we were taught), So your ochids also attract me very much. All of the photography is excellent.You have the ability to get beautiful tones in your black and white that most including me cannot get. My thoughts in particular (and others) is that you have taken some photos with only one or two gray scale tones, zones IV- V and produced beautiful images. . I have seen photos like "Bugio" on the cover of Black and White Magazine -one of the top photo magazines.

Thank you for stopping by my portfolio. Until recently many of the flowers were from my garden, but I have expanded the site to other gardens and flower spots. You have an exquisite portfolio of shots. I don't know where to begin so I will basically say magnificent. Orchids are obviously more than a hobby, they are a passion and you truely understand their beauty. I really liked the one that looked like a spanish dancer in red. The butterflies are beautiful.
