Don Farra , August 04, 2006; 12:24 A.M.

good work in progress

My overall impression of your work so far is good, and you show promise. You have a good eye and are able to isolate your subject well. There were two images in particular that caught my eye and demonstrate my point. The first is found in your #2 set, 3rd row, 2nd column, this image is dramatic and symbolic, and invites the viewers eye to see beyond the first layer and reach into the light. The second image is found in your Strawflower set, on the far left hand side, it is striking and carries enough impact to hold the attention of the viewer.

It appears to me that you like experimenting with symbolic imagery while employing variations of conventional composition techniques. This is not a bad thing. I have no doubt that over time you will define your personal style even better and maybe move into more images of people. I mention this since in the few images I saw a spark.

Great Portfolio

Thanks for your comments. Most of the blues you see that look oversaturated, you would have had to have been there. They were at high altitudes, and the sky is much deeper blue there (less air, less pollution). The two lakes I photographed were very deep which again brought about the deep blue while reflecting the sky. You can see the same thing in some of the shots where the water looks gold from the reflection of the rocks. There was some saturation added, but not much different from what I saw. Probably still a little over done, but I was going for that postcard look. Thanks again for your comments. I'm six months into my very first camera and I'm having so much fun. Eventually we get over a new toy and start using it properly.... but that's in the future I guess. Thanks again and an exellent portfolio. Bring us more!!!

Brett Brandon , August 23, 2006; 12:48 A.M.

Here's the pic as it came out of the camera before cropping and saturation and such. Plus the link to the final version. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=4731265 Not that much different. Still didn't catch really being there. Isn't Arizona supposed to be a desert??? Not Here.

Nicole York , April 12, 2007; 01:15 A.M.

Wow, what a diverse body of work! I like the b&w's the best. Thanks for your suggestion, I do actually have a much closer shot. Unfortunately for me I'm still working with my old junker and the lens is about as big around as the tip of an index finger so I would have lost much, if not all, of the composition if I'd gotten any closer. But that barn will be around for a long time so one day....

Great Portfolio, by the way :) Love the old house and trucks!

It enchants your portafolio to me, your style is very original, I like much the tonality that gives to the photos with metal like for example those of car or musical instruments.

Chuck, thanks for commenting on my image. I agreed with part of what you said and made a change. I finally got around to visiting your portfolio and am very impressed with your creativity and plethora of varying images. The corn stuff is presented like I've never seen corn before and everything from your classic car shots to your image alterations is very humbling but motivating.

Thank you, Kirk

jack vermillion , November 09, 2007; 10:03 P.M.

This is good stuff!

I like the way you see things and have taken the road less traveled to capture the other side of the traditional shot. It is a bit like riding a train. They always go a different way and to a different side of town than the roads and freeways. You see different things back on that side.

Keep it up!

Tony McBurney , November 21, 2007; 09:45 P.M.

great

I like the way you see light and use it to capture form and drama.

Hello Friend!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.

Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Ken

These are surely some outstanding photos. I like the angles you use. I think you make some of these subjects just a little more interesting by the angles you choose to shoot them from.

Like your diverse portfolio that is well done and presented. Like your images of the old trucks, by coincidence before I go to your portfolio I was thinking about an image I have of an old pickup I should be working on. Take care.

El Porte-Bonheur , July 10, 2008; 09:05 A.M.

Hello Chuck,

First and for all, thank you for your visit and kind comment on my portofolio which in fact gave me the opportunity to discover your works. I follow your postings to the 'critique forum' since quite a while - and generally speaking, they always attract my attention. I now took a good look at your exhibition and want to summarize in one sentence: It's impossible to favoritize the one or other work because every individual folder has extraordinary content and is a true representative for the artistic variety in your works.I can only congratulate - this is a high class exhibition of moods, colors and sceneries. See you around, Chuck, with best regards, El

Alex Elias , July 19, 2008; 03:37 P.M.

Very nice portfolio. Truly an inspiration with all kind of great subjects. Congratulations. Alex

El Porte-Bonheur , July 30, 2008; 07:34 A.M.

Hello Chuck,

Thank your for your improvement proposal on my recent submission. Indeed, your sky adjustment makes the picture 'brighter' - which in fact I wanted to avoid, because for my interpretation I needed a more 'dull' sky. However, I am not very familiar with post-processing - maybe I use the wrong programme and in addition,I am still in a learning curve. I appreciate your constructive criticism and wonder if I could fall back on you with questions on processing because the images in your folders are the measure of quality I intend to achieve in future. Thanks again, Chuck and best regards, El

Carlos Rodriguez , August 08, 2008; 03:26 A.M.

Hi

Amazing aesthetic perception, congrats...

Giuseppe Pasquali , August 13, 2008; 02:36 P.M.

Dear Chuck,

I have browsed with great interest and pleasure your portfolio where I have found some very good shots made by an intelligent photographer. I thank you for sharing these beauties and for another particular reason: almost one year ago, it was august the 4th 2007, you were the first non anonymous rater to note, rate and comment one of my photos (that blurry "hat"): thank you, ciao, Giuseppe

Kurt Kramer , September 04, 2008; 11:37 A.M.

I like your Things with Wheels set. Junked cars are fertile material for good photos. Many people use them poorly, but you've done a nice job. In what part of the country are you finding these beauties?

Ioan Alexandru Chiru , December 06, 2008; 03:45 P.M.

Hi !

You have a diversified portfolio with nice shots, nice colors and great B&W photos, congratulations ! Alex.

Bela L. Molnar , January 02, 2009; 09:28 A.M.

Then, I went over your portfolio, image after images, a good one our, and decided, to leave a comment on you portfolio instead of some of the images. You has an incredible portfolio, fantastic images, . . . . images with a story to tell, most of them. The barn, rusty cars, factories etc., etc., etc, . . . all of them master pieces. Congratulation for your work. Bravo.

Cheers; Bela
