Thank you for you comments on my pic...I agree with the centering of the flare, but that was PS'd into the shot, and it lands where it lands. It was actually shot at 8am on an overcast day. Your portfolio is wonderful...keep up the fine work and Happy New Year! Bill

I have just spent half an hour or so going through your folder "in the wake of the Potawatomi". I understand that this is just one of your sides. but commenting just on this particular collection of work, I think it's some of the finest I have seen on photo.net. It is photography of the highest order and I am in awe. Best Regards, Jack

Hi Steve

Thank you for your kind words about regarding my portfolio.I especially enjoyed your series "The Street as a Graphic Novel".

j d.wood , August 08, 2010; 03:38 P.M.

Hi Steve. I am so taken in by your work that sometimes I stop by just to wander through your images and remember why I started on this photographic journey. You are one of the few online photographers that I would enjoy meeting face to face. Your images tell me that. You are a strong visual communicator. and you put out some good reads in words.

Trisha Jean-Angela , August 11, 2010; 11:09 P.M.

I have really enjoyed browsing through your work and I will be back time and time again I know. Wonderful portfolio! Thank you for sharing. :)

John Kelly , January 30, 2011; 01:43 P.M.

Steve, I've visited a few times...usually when we post on the same thread.  Don't know why I've not said anything earlier.  The coherence of your work, themes (!) that seem related even when superficially quite different, stands out for me.  You do seem to be engaged in essays or novels (as you pointed out) or similar extended performances. I enjoy the distinctive overall look you've chosen...your post-processed color isn't totally unlike your naturalistic blurs or your technically conventional portraits.

John Kelly , June 04, 2011; 11:40 P.M.

A lot of you work would benefit by audio. Music, background chatter, ambient sound.

I think writing would distract unless it was very concise, just a few lines, like haiku without the Japanese pretense. Longer writing might be good too, if it was allowed to dominate...no more than one or two images keeping it company...as in New Yorker articles.

Beata Bieniak , January 15, 2012; 02:09 A.M.

Great portfolio.

Best regards...

Steve,

your comments to my photos made me curious - your portfolio here (and on your homepage) is truly unique. You have both an "eye" and a "vision" for creating real art.
Best regards, Wolfgang

Drew Bayless , December 12, 2012; 09:24 P.M.

I'm trying to respond in a poetic but in very hard for me because I've had a stoke and a speak or express myself as I would to. But the love your messages, so please keep them coming !!

Sid Sidney , October 12, 2013; 12:26 P.M.

I really enjoyed your Chicago area photo's, I recognize many of the areas. I didn't realize that Bensenville was so depressed. I haven't been through there for a while. I used to drive down Irving Park past Bensenville on my way to work - many years ago. Excellent street photos.

Steve Gubin , October 21, 2013; 07:57 P.M.

Thank you Landrum and Sid. It does mean something, and is very much appreciated, when someone takes the time to comment. Landrum -- We're in the same league and it's called photography. Thanks, Sid. I'm sure Chicago has changed a lot over the years, yet part of its beauty is that it still seems to retain much of its past, as well as that unique feeling that only Chicago can give.

Diane Hooper , November 21, 2013; 09:34 P.M.

Steve, thanks so much for commenting on my fog and cloud shots. The clouds you have in your Chicago portfolio are wonderful and your processing puts mine to shame! :)

Boris Bugan , June 01, 2014; 04:42 A.M.

Mr Gubin

this is indeed one of best work here on photo.net.
You are in my line of sight.

Drew Bayless , November 14, 2014; 07:59 A.M.

I had a stoke in feb 2007. At the moment I have no voice so cannot speak and as I only have use of one arm, writing is slow and difficult for me.
