Thanks!
Thanks a lot for your comments. I was not very sure about the results for the two pictures I've asked for critique. I think the second one its a very difficult subject and you've to be very sure to give it for critique. Thanks a lot, Regards George.

Hi darius... i expecially loved your approach to the aestetical of ugliness.. i think you have a brilliant inside view into the subject and you can grow up more and more... so keep it up... as for me - i have been in romania many many many times, i deeply falled in love with your country and its contrasts... in the future i will be there again, always on the road, always talking with people, always taking new pictures... take care.

Darius you are a skilled photographer. However, after having read what you had to say to Fredy. M. (Baby Love) I can only assume that you have not cultivated your mind to the same level as your photographic skills. A little kindness to those whom have not as yet aquired the same skills will not take anything away from you. We often reveal our true beings by the things we say. Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent. Cheers.

ISO lated words

Ti rispondo volentieri!!!
Caro Dario ti rispondo in Italiano in quanto vedo che lo conosci molto bene! Apprezzo quanto hai scritto sulla mia...in my mind...! 蠵na provocazione! Ciao, Maurizio.

I really love your portfolio, especially the portraits and landscapes. Your landscapes are not typical which makes them very interesting. I am just a beginner but find your work inspirational.

I will defenitely bookmark this portfolio because I like to spend some time to enjoy it..
about you quetsion for "smena8" yes it worth for making long exposures (sooting stars and so), dramatic artistic film efects, in very cold/hot weather(it is mechanic and can outperform the electronic camera simply because the electronic parts will not work) ...but for low light you better find camera equpment with wider aperture...

Portfolio & Ratings
Darius, Excellent portfolio: I have just picked up you views on ratings. I am new to the site and of course have already come across the 3/3 raters. This has got to stop. As an old pro of 50 years I am immune to criticizm however, the young up-and-coming photographers take it very much to heart. Two of the leading lights on the site Birte Ragland and Professor FranciscoRobeiro do Vale are on the same wavelength (see their sites). We all agree that until ALL ratings are public and the raters can be identified the rating system is pointless. I have tried to get through to the site management without success. If nothing is done the best people will not put up with it and leave. Any suggestions on how we get through to the Site Management? How did you manage to find fault with Leif's fine photography to upset him ? John

Darius. Your portfolio shows an immense wealth of talent. Even at such a young age and having only picked up a camera a few years ago, your artistry is apparent and your vision is dominating in the images you take. Keep at it. Darius, thanks for your inspiring comment, it's so nice to read critiques from artists as you are that couple thought and light-painting.
p.s.: I've read some of your threads regarding the problematization of aesthetics (classic reading) and originality and it's refreshing to know that photo.net fellows thematize conventional (popular) normatives of beauty. Regards, Darius, be well;)

I have always tried to take in my photos the estetica and the beauty of a woman, nothing that to see with the woman object that your you say,
the woman is the source of where we come, and is necessary to admire her, by its beauty and intelligence,
The woman is one of the beautiful beings whom God has created,
and for my it is a pleasure to be able to show it to its explendor and beauty yet
remembers that the dirt this in that watches, and that one image never must happen unnoticed,it can like or not, but if it does not happen as I say unnoticed, the fulfilled objective

a bit surprized
For someone who left such a harsh and un-helpful critique on one of my photos, i find your "portraits" to be quite uniteresting, boring and lacking any originality what so ever. maybe you should stop learning photoshop, and start learning photography !.... and stop giving out advice to others until you achieve a higher level of photographic skills yourself.

OK, Darius, after you made me laugh so much (recent posts in "Just thinking about buying a subscription makes me laugh!" thread) I am taking a closer look. Do I like everything in your portfolio - I do not think so, but about 80% is very agreable :)
What I like most - is the fact that you are not afraid of turning some of your images into almost "paintings", that you experiment with color tones, posterization, color shifting etc. Some would say "it is not photography" - me, I long ago stopped paying attention to how an image is produced - it is the final effect that counts. And the final effect is most certainly very satisfactory in most cases.
One other thing - Powershots are good little cameras, but it appears that you managed to master small digicams better than most (in fact, much better). Congratulations - quite honestly, it is one of more interesting portfolios I have seen so far.
On the final note - you may need to take my (honest) impression with a grain of salt if you feel so inclined. Cheers !
Floris Andrea , June 11, 2007; 09:42 A.M.
A grain of Salt...
Dear Darius.
My compliments about your portfolio. The things you show are all very sweet, harmless and aesthetic. A personal choise and you are pretty consequently preoccupied with it.
The way you visit others portfolio's is a bit more unclear to me; it shows you feel the urge to visit nudes and complain about it... Why? Are you searching for the scandal, a lucid source of inspiration?
Will we witness some work of yours, in the future, with some grains of salt and pepper in it?
In my humble opinion that would be an improvement.

You have a wonderful captures in your portfolio. I can't imagine that you took these photos through your A410. I believe now that it really depends to the one who's handling the camera and not the camera itself :) Well, same here. I only have FE 190 Olympus. Dear Darius
, Thanks for commenting my picture "In The Moonlight". It is not a mistake, I wanted to focus on the background in order to give emphasys to the running child.... I tried to create one of those "really old looking" images where you could often see out-of-focus subjects......i care a lot about your opinion, please let me know more if you wish. Thanks, and congratulations for your portfolio.
Marcus Down , September 05, 2007; 09:39 A.M.
Darius, you left a comment on one of my photos which was so caustic i decided to delete it immediately. I looked at other comments you have made and see that rather than give constructive advice your preference runs towards the glib. I think it would be kinder if in the future you gave a little pause for thought before leaving comments. Ask yourself what motivates you to do so-is it from a real desire to aid the photographer or are you trying to fulfill some need in yourself that perhaps you don't fully understand?......... Your works display some competence. The pictures are nice enough, although, but for a few exceptions which court controversy, there is little original here. I think you could improve greatly by becoming genuinely obsessed by photography. Judging by your forum posts you are currently obsessed by becoming a 'personality' on PN. This is not a great way forward. Think, my friend. Ask questions of yourself and questions of the answers you give yourself. If your aim is to become the best photographer you possibly can be you will need to walk a completely different path than the one you are currently strolling so belligerantly down. Art is a state of mind. Where's yours at?

Hello Friend!
Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.
I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.
Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Darius,
You have a very interesting portfolio here. It almost seems as though you have a concept already in mind before you shoot, and you strive to have a certain feel about your photos, whether mysterious, curious or fun-loving. It is your curiosity that is intriguing, since you are not afraid to experiment where many would not or can not. This is the stuff of life. Keep moving ahead. You're on a unique and intriguing path. P.S. Thanks very much for your supportive comment on my Remembering Summer Winds. I posted a response to that. Again, nice work here.

Dear friend, Saturday night, the 8th of December, my wife and I, had a big incident with our car (head-on collision), and we are alive for miracle: anyway, these not good moments, become also good moments! indeed, in these occasions, we can understand that life is so breakable, for not being happy every day to awaken, drink a coffee, to smile, to make love and other simple things, to meet people and, why not, to do photographs!
For doing these things we don?t need a lot of money and power: we need only our life and the capacity for surprise of simple things.
I have had a big gift, for this Xmas and the New Year, that is to say, I?m alive! and now, I know, I?ll love more life!
My dear friend! I wish to you the same thing, namely, the ability to transform the accidents of life in happiness to live better and to give the proper value to your life and to that of other!
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!....Ciaomau!

Thank you Darius,
I put my DSLR down a few weeks ago, my partner bought me a Holga for christmas, and haven't looked back.
I'm still doing lots of experimenting, I currently have a roll of expired 35mm being developed, but Holga has taught me many things. It's important to have fun with your camera, it should be a passion of yours, and one should never expect two images to be exactly the same.
I'll pick up my Nikon again one day soon, but Lomography is the way to go for now.
Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

Thank you Darius for your comment. About your question, my last camera (Ricoh rx100) makes a great job expecially with good colours and white balance. Other cameras were great with colours, for exemple Pana lx1 that I have put becouse too much noisy. Obviously Photoshop is also necessary. Bye and congratulations for your beautiful portfolio.

Darius; Thank you for the comment on the Image "What a Black Eye". I felt it was very unkind. Not that I am a critic in that respect. If I had explained the image more it might have made a difference. I do not "Gussie up" any of the images that I display. To my way of thinking this ruins the image that is taken. All I ever do is Crop and Resize. In reading the comments that some has written I tend to agree. The Caustic remarks you make is a sign of immaturity. I did like some of your Images and thought they were great. Others to be frank was not my cup ot tea.
