A point and shoot camera you say? Well, you certainly get a lot out of it. I particularly like your 'blue' series. You certainly have the eye for photography.

Very interesting portfolio, Hugo. I like the way you present your photos, grouped under the main colours. I also like your vision of the worthy details around you and, specially, that beautiful folder named "small landscapes"
Your B&W folder has impacted on my soul and stirred up emotions. I do thanks ytou for it.
As for the street photography, go! Be discreet, interact with people, ask their permission (either before or after the shot), talk with them, don't be shy, be selfassured summoning strength from within you since you have loads of it.
Go! Shoot!

Thanks, Hugh, for visiting my portfolio and taking the time to look at my pictures. I am glad you left your comment so I could come across your impressive work. Your pictures have a language of their own and are calm and silent and speak volumes at the same time. You stay and do not want to stop looking and listening. Best wishes, Alexandra

Excellent images of Nature
As vulcanologist it seems natural that images of nature dominate your portfolio and those are impressive excellent photos. The UK is an excellent place for photography.

Excellent portfolio! You have some outstanding original images here, be they
B & W, colour, landscape or abstract.I would be interested to know a little more about your camera equipment, camera setting at shot etc but you're on my 'interesting' list and I hope a little of your skill at making these compositions rubs off! Regards, Drew.

I just saw the piece featuring you in New Scientist 28/10/06. Interesting job you have!

Thanks everybody for visiting my photos and for all your kind comments!
Hey Drew, well spotted - ironically this profile appeared in the New Scientist Graduate Careers Special the same week that my research contract ran out and I became unemployed...at least that means more time for photography in the coming months...!

Textural
The tactile experience I get from viewing your work is great. The thought of me rubbing my fingers together as I look at the pictures is silly but accurate. The sharp edge abstract nature of many of your photographs shows what can be achieved. I think there are many shooters posting pictures, it nice to see photographers posting images. Cheers.

answer for - "static and dynamic"
Thanks for your visit and your comments. Any critics are welcomed - indeed, I have seen on another screen that the right corner looks a bit strange :(. I have to fix that. And now a few words about your portfolio - I like it :). Greetings, Veronica.

Hi Hugo. Thanks for rating my photo. I remember visiting your portfolio a while ago. I lived in Lancashire for many years and I recognised some of the scenes but they appear prettier than they seemed at the time ... its always the best photographers who can portray the mood better than seen by casual onlookers. My sincere compliments. Regards. Taha

thanks steve! it's definitely not work though, it's a hobby!
Kent Draper , May 26, 2007; 11:16 P.M.
Wow
First, thanks for comment on my pic. You are correct about the sharpness of the
dirt. I was in a hurry and the traffic was horrible and I had to be somewhere and didn't have time to really set things up. Just took a snap and ran back to the car. Second, you have some great work here. I can't believe it's just a hobby. You are good enough to turn it into something more. When I have a bit more time I will return and spend more time on your individual photo's.
Thanks again
Kent

Hugo, Thanks for visiting. It's entirely possible the lady had indigestion, but I like to think she was having serious second thoughts about her marital situation. By the way, your work is totally awesome! Greetings, Jane

Hi Hugo, been a while since I visited your portfolio and I have to say it has really come on a huge amount! Lots of great stuff in here - some really original pictures. Keep shooting!
Sergey Afanasyev , July 20, 2007; 03:55 A.M.
Hi!
Well, it's me again. I found your B&W photos really attractive to me, especially "oil plate two". You did this abstract photo really fascinating. I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to leave a comment only on that photo, because the others are also worth of comments. So keep going! More than 14000 views of the photo is really unachievable to me for now.

Man of Mountains, Nature
and other great beauties, it has been a while since I came here around 2 years I guess?
I am very pleased that you stopped by & commented my work back than otherwise I may not have had this opportunity to see your work.
Thank you for both

Colors
Really difficult, Hugo, to make monochromatic photo files with their own personality each. Usually photos are a multichrome mess where we can find dominating color and tones but converting into monochrome, except for B&W, it is something hard and you "take it easy".
Good portfolio and creative photos. I enter to it by Anboto tree (creative perspective to move the floor to an angle) because I am really linked to this mountain 50 kms. from home). See you.

Hello again Photo.netters
Back again after a 3-year break due to the birth of my two sons and to volcanoes. I hope you like the three images from this month's trip to Chile to study the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcano in action.
