It is a privilege to be the first to comment on your portfolio. Great pictures - I think the PN community would benefit to see some more of the very good work you have already uploaded on your personal website. cheers !

Good stuff
I admire your work. I especially like the strong use of line and pattern, this has really inspired me to take more attention of these factors in my own photography. One small criticism if I may - the height of your work makes the display of the images in their entirity difficult. These images should not be spoiled by the need to use a scroll bar to view them (viewed on a 17inch LCD monitor with 1280x1024 resolution)

Thank's to all
For many years, I've been shy about showing my work. Too personal I tought.
It's sometimes difficult to open up to others, and photography can be a sort of safe heaven.
I know it's a strange paradoxe, as photography is my work and life, but I'm starting to get this changed and try to communicate better.
The dark side will be to have some people who won't understand my personal views about photography, but I'll try to play the game, and not be bitter about it.
What matters anyway is what I find to be right when I am behind the viewfinder, just alone with myself...
Alfredo Muñoz de Oliveira , May 11, 2007; 06:13 A.M.
Hi Jean
To show our work in public is a kind of our self portrait, the way we see the life around us and the proper instrument is the camera that will capture our look. The problem many times and, in this kind of places as sites, we can't give much attention to rates unless we give a look to the work of the rater and see what is his photographic culture. The digital technique, the software available today created many new images producers and not photographers and here it remains the confusion of many people that any image that is posted is considered as a photography and the majority are graphic images, digital manipulations, good or bad, doesn't matter.
As I told you, you have a humanist work as a photojournalist and I see photography in your portfolio. To be a great photographer is not only the work we do but also the human side from who does it.
my best regards.

Agree
Hi Alfredo.
I totally agree with you.
Nowadays, especialy with digital photography and computeurs, it's not that difficult to produce fairly good graphic images.
The real point is to have a purpose, on a long term basis. Not just try to please ourselves once in a while. The apprentissage of light takes time and will. The work on perspective is also another topic. The emotion also. If there is not feelings from the photographer at the time he shoots, you can't expect to find it afterwords on the pics.
Cheers
JB

Salut
all has to do with light, composition and a full intuition with 10% of training. Sometimes the esthetic side is not understantable in conjunction with the theme and story. One day I went to an exhibit of one of the most important portuguese photographers of today, Paulo Nozolino...the name of the work is "far Cry"...many photos from beirute, to The Sates, Bosnia..and quite dark photos qith some light points and parts that leads you to the rest of the story but if you look to the photo only with a glance then you won't like it...and I went to taht exhibit with a guy from a site...those "masters" that we sometimes find around here...(master of photoshop and manipulation) and he didn't like, just said..(tipically) to dark...!by that moment..I just met the guy...I knew what was is photographic culture...! Paulo Nozolino had a polemic exhibit in the south of France about the life of gypsis..!

Your portfolio is one of the most moving I've seen on here. Thank you for sharing your photos. You are the best kind of photographer...you make us see through your eyes, the stories unsaid, but told by you through film.

Your body of work, as a whole, is very striking. The architectural shots are so clean and stark, creating, in my mind, a precisely manufactured backdrop from which the suffering of humanity in the next groups leaps out. You make a very poignant statement.
Stefano Perez Tonella , May 20, 2007; 07:56 A.M.
bravo
nice portfolio, which reveals a fine eye and a strong (and coherent) style. Thanks for sharing it in the photo.net community. In some photos, I feel somehow the german expressionism.

Thank's to all for your compliments!
I have just noticed that among all the pictures I submitted for request, the only one"nude" has attracted so far about 2000 viewer in three days. Far more than any reportage, architecture or fine arts...
Perhaps I should consider a twist in my career :))

It is funny (or sad) your comment about your nude picture attracting so many viewers. It is true indeed. But don't consider a twist in your career, just take more nudes, receive more publicity for that and continue with the beautiful and moving human images you produce as well.
Congratulations on your work, Ron

This is apsolutely my favourite portofolio in here. You are true photographer, and you make me think about myself, and my approach to photography. You capture life itself, thru your eyes, from the heart. So nice to feel that finally on PN :)

thank you for the comment. I got a chance o look through your work and it is absolutely beautiful, but in a way that is not so concerned with popular beauty, in the way that considers raw emotion to over take current ideas of it.

First class photography
Some of the best photojournalistic and documentary photographs I have seen. The architecture section is of no minor value. Some of them are in my opinion real masterpieces. I am very happy to be able to look at your work. Please visit my portfolio and give me your honest opinion (I don't usually ask that). All the best.

Amazing pictures. I loved both the reportage and the architecture. The pictures of the karen brought memories back. The uncovered grave in Sarajevo is very touching and much more impressive and expressive than most of the images I've seen of the balkans. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
