John: Thanks for posting such a nice group of pictures. You seem to get the best out of your models. All pictures have a nice liveliness to them. -Chris
I love your work! I'm starting out and am trying to improve my technique and shots and would really appreciate help from someone like you. Got a couple of questions if you don't mind...
Loction: Where do you normally prefer to shoot? I can see that you shoot at various locations but do you normally prefer to shoot in a studio or a "home studio" kinda setup?
Lights: Do you use any from of lighting set up to achieve your results? Or just shoot with whatever you happend to have with you at the moment and make the ambient light work for you.
Subject: How and where did you get your subjects to pose for you? Are they usually professional models or simply volunteers or friends? Do you direct them to exactly how you want them to pose or do you tend to give like "simulated situations/reactions"? kinda insrtuctions and shoot away and pick the best shots?
Oh John, you don't know what you have done. So many bodies with so many colours (forgive me say but even GOD failed to create) so many activites and moods. Enjoyed staying in your world. regards
I do like your nude portraits. They are interesting and well composed.
Sorry about the hard rating, about which photo, I can't remember. I guess I was in a bad mood, sorry again, David
John, me encanta lo que haces y como lo haces, tu forma de ver el desnudo me gusta mucho, el tratamiento que les das a tus fotos es impresionante, enhorabuena por tu trabajo.
I have just lost one hour of my life browsing your stunning collection.Only logged on to post a single image, found one of yours and realised I have so much to learn.
To comment on a single picture or even choose a favourite would be impossible.Have you considered a gallery?
Please also consider posting a series of tutorials or go off and write a book.
It goes without saying that you are now marked as "interesting"
good work. you should try to adventure in to professional films. you will get better color and exposure control. kodak 160 portra nc or vc fuji 160 npc or nps
I dont have to tell you that you have a great talent, well done sir. Old Max ZAPPA here is shortly going to be embarking on a series of nudes. I notice you use FP4 for much of your mono work, I a interested to know at what speed you rate the film, and also what are your experiences with the most excellent HP5 for nude work. If you use HP5 at all, then at what speed do you rate it.
Not only do you have an incredible amount of successful photographs but your views on the application of nudity in art form deserves the amount of positive feedback you've received and more!!
Thank you all and Sarah too. I am particularly pleased when a woman is so supportive, because it means that she understand the respect and admiration that I feel for my models. Sarah, I love your photos too by the way.
There are those who found beaty in life and those who can only give light to their eyes through naked bodies.Point is , once they made one and they can't progress they make millions of the same photo and to give happiness to their style they cut the photos or just explore photoshop options to find different solutions..girls are wonderful...but all this is so flat. Plus it is just my point of view...if you are so good you shouldn't even bother
Then there are those who work to find less meaning in others artists' portfolios to validate themselves as true critics.
I'm sorry but I disagree with Mauro Pelella. If an artist could capture the entire essence of a subject in one photo, without more exploration of emotion, p.o.v, subect matter, timing, etc. then this world would be much less beautiful. For it is the world's artists that create the neverending altering of ideas that make this world unique to all. To think that there is a limit to these possibilities is indeed a very sad affair...
Thank you very much Sarah. It's really nice to see a lady take that position, whereas someone like the gentleman above is implying that I am letting down women. There is an old saying in France to the effect that you cannot be more Royalist than the King ... or maybe I should say the Queen in this case!
I have been admiring your work since I first found PN. It's obvious why women are so comfortable with you. There are few who, in my opinion, manage to capture each woman's individual beauty as you do. I just wanted to say hello and let you know that your work inspires me. Thank you for sharing it with us. :)
Very Impressive portfolio. I was wondering though if you could give some advice on working with models. I always find it a difficult situation asking a model to pose a certain way or even bend a certain way! Do they pose for you or do you ask them pose in the way you want? I've just let the models I used do what they wanted....
John, that's pretty much my approach also. I just follow them around and we kind of work things out together. I never pressure them in any way. I don't think that one should force any model into a pose that doesn't come naturally.
It's just not right that one man should know so many beautiful women willing to take their clothes off in the name of art.
A bit tongue in cheek but none the less, it is remarkable. You are the envy of many photographers out here.
Keep up the wonderful work. Thank you for your contribution. Please tell your models how impressed we are by their beauty and comfort in front of the lense. A true testament to the artist.
Thank you Frank, that's very nicely said and I know how well you mean it, however, we all know these girls - not only me - and this is the one message that I feel I have not been able to convey very easily on PN. The only difference is that I smile and I ask them to pose for me and, very often, they take up the challenge, they smile back and they say ok.
Your entire portfolio is very inspirational. It is invigorating to see someone who has an unabashed love and dedication to nude photography and the beauty of the female form.
I love your portrait photography. As a rookie whos main interest is portraits/people and sports, I constantly check your portfolio for new stuff and ideas on how to improve my shots.I know you catch a lot of crap about some of them, but they are beautiful shots. When I grow up, I want to be like you!! HA HA! Anyway, WONDERFUL portfolio.
John, I don't know if anybody has told (this is the joke part) but quite an unbelievably impressive hobby you have and the results are even more so. You must be doing a very interesting well-paid daytime job if you insist leaving photography for the weekends. Den perase pote apo to mialo mu oti mpori na ise ellinas! Bravo; chapeau!
This is really great work and I appreciate your patience for taking 100's of pictures with excellent quality.
Anil kumar. Email: logonprash@yahoo.co.in
I loved every one of these shots. What gets me the most is that you don't appear to be repeating yourself. Every single one is different, even the ones that were used twice and modified in some way. Great job!
I'm in awe of your work here John! Exquisite! Not a mediocre shot in the bunch. You've captured the female form in all it's gloriousness. I cannot praise you enough. Thank you thank you for sharing these! You're a true inspiration! Surely you must teach, photography, or photoshop, no? If not, YOU SHOULD!
At communion:
Father while handing out wafers and wine:
"Corpo di dio, corpo di dio.." (body of Christ..)
Then he looks upon one of your models kneeling in line with the others and utters:
"Dio che corpo!" (Christ what a body!)
You have a beautiful collection of photographs which celebrate the beauty of the female form.
I really love your work.
I've never seen so many excellent photos of a single photographer. Congratulations.
Just a technical question: What kind of illumination (flashguns, etc..) do you use in your work?
I want to add myself to your legion of admirers. You have technique, good light, wonderful posing but above all you have style. STYLE.
(The thing my clients don't let me achieve)
So my friend, thanks. And keep inspiring us.
Hey, John, I find this original, too. I find this verry good but also I find a connection to your "Mother and daughter series". No ofense, for you or for mister Iorga.
Great portfolio with diverse collection of images. You do these nudes with class like no one else. All your pictures have a very thoughtful composition and you expose them to perfection. You are a real gifted artist. Thanks for sharing yoour work...
Maybe I imagined commenting on portfolio before. For some reason tonight I scanned your portfolio looking for an image that stood out for me to comment on - after I hit the number 20 I gave up. While I'm not sure I am with you on your colored multiple image compositions - even those I am following and seeing where you are going. Some of your portraits and nudes are just simply stunning - seeming immediate, spontaneous, and yet well-composed, balanced and dynamic. Great portfolio to study and think through possibilities.
i would like to thank you for the fantastic comment you gave me. it is much appreciated as you are such a prolific photographer. i have to admit that nudes & portraiture just isn't 'my thing' but you have an eye for beauty and composition and an extra ordinary talent as a photographer. best wishes for 2005
Fantastic photos, its like a fantasy, and when i look at your work it makes me dream, I am like I want to explore more of it and travel inside each photos here. Just a lovely place.
John, You really have a style all your own. You have an extensive portfolio of beautiful women. Though I must say, enough is enough! Of your portfolio what I like the best is your "Anything But Glamour" collection, because those images are more a view of real life. Like SO many others who have commented on your work, I am in awe and somewhat-- no, QUITE envious of your relationship with all of these beautiful nude women..... Where was I.... Oh yeah, I ah... well, Nice work John! Regards, TK
Sr. Peri : I like your job very much, is excellente and brilliant ... The way you select each angule and form , and colors whit the beatiful girls , it is magnific.
On the other hand, the medium tones and gray pictures, in personal opinion, is your better one job.
I would like to ask you, if had you think about black and white difuminate photos whith hard and softe light. It?s just an opinion.
I like to stop by a couple of times a week just to get inspired and see what I might have missed the last time. Always so inspiring, I am just knocked out with the breadth of your mind's eye in your choice of models and settings. I've even started to play with film again after noticing a lot of your Nikon F90 images. Thanks for all you give. Take care.
Many thanks for your nice words about my pictures. I do appreciate them as a matter of fact I do appreciate them very much as I regard you as a very skilled photographer, working in a totally different style from mine.
In some pretty important ways, your pictures have helped redefine my perception of women. That, my friend, is what art's all about. Thank you for sharing them. In my opinion, this site is deeply in your debt for your participation.
Dear John, when I want put my step on fashion and nude fields, your portfolio will be a big university for me. I save 90% of your beautiful and teachfull photos. thanks for sharing. hope in future u'll be here as always to show u my works.
John, I have just returned from a 6 month hiatus (both storage drive and backup drive failed the same day!) and I started by looking at your portfolio. You are a remarkable photographer! Perhaps too bad you are stuck photographing one subject! :)
Jerry Matchett
Hands down, the best portfolio of female figure shots I've seen outside of Peter Gowland and he's not a member of photo.net. And your choice of models is much more wide ranging than his is. Most of the shots are tasteful, elegant, sensual and artistic, all at the same time!
My only wish is that you had provided a choice of higher rez pictures for those of us with large hi-rez monitors, but I can see that would have entailed much more work and disk space.
OMG, John. You're up to 636 images! And every one -- with the exception of Tony Perkins -- seems more beautiful that the last. To say I've studied the all would be a gross exageration. In fact, I don't think my cache can hold that many images. What else can I say, except that more than any other portfolio I've ever seen, your work is a testament to a life well lived... and we're all green with envy! Magnificent, John, magnificent! --jim
Life is a circle. You can go around and around ... and you find: you need to know youself. Not only the name or the body, but true You! After that life leads you where you need to go. You are free.
Looking your work from young days to present moment shows it so well. Take your freedom! Change. Live like a child! They see everything for the first time every single day. I recommend that style. You understand more, you see more, you live more.
My family and shots of three sister you have, have incommon one thing - ability to be here and now with open heart. I wish you have that ability always with you. And I am sure there is always something to come back on this page. I recommend to look it deeper. Like you John. I recomend that everyone would see here something else then naked women - there is life here. All the emotions that you have (no matter who yoy are or where you live as we all share the same emotions), are also here. And this is what makes it great. Your work reflects in everyone who dares to look a little deeper.
What a nice way to put it, thank you very much. Indeed, this portofolio has little to do with nudity and the majority of people, alike yourself, thankfully understand it.
Thank you Edouard, I know you mean it kindly. I don't think however that I have argued with you in any way. I simply asked you once to please comment on the photos and not only the anatomy of the models, which is not the purpose of this site. I think that we owe that respect to the models that grace our pages.
In order to do what you not only do it is necessary to know how of technique, of lights or shades... to do what you to make Mr. Peri it is really necessary to be an artist. Congratulations. Luck. Respect.
You have a phenomenal eye, John. I love your passion for people, and especially for the most elevated created being and their beauty, feminility and tenderness.
John you are my favorite photographer, see the list of people that are interested in my gallery, you are the first.
For me, you are a my target, I make some attempt but I can't reach your ability to shot a glamour and fashion pictures.
I appreciate aslo your comment on my last picture, but unfortunately I deleted because the rating was too low and and I don't accept rating that the sum is below 9.5 value.
If you like live your comment on my gallery, I appreciate a lot comments and suggentions by a master of photography like you.
Thank you
Antonio
I saw your most recent posts in nudes and remembered why your listed in my favorites. Can I ask a favor. Please look at my portfolio and give me your impression of the photos under the title kel. These are raw scans from the film so I'm looking for processing tips to get the most from the photos when I go into the darkroom to print. Also any tips on my lighting or issues with my posing would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry John, I didn't mean to offend its just that I didn't feel qualified to make a comment on your wonderful pictures. I've added you as a favorite because I enjoy viewing and being inspired by your work. I find as you say your are excellent at capturing the moment. generally I'm not a fan of extensive PS work however I find that I truely enjoy what you do with it as you capture and enhance a moment without over doing it. The picture is still a great shot. I find my favorite section to be portraits. I find myself spending much of my photo.net time here. If you ever find yourself in the NJ/Philly area I would love to assist you on a shoot.
and it shows in your work. You are amazingly talented and your portfolio is bulging with your art. I am so glad you decided to share your visions with us. Thank you!
Thank you John for visiting my portfolio! I am realy surprised that artist like you can se my poor works. It is dificult for me to coment your pictures... i like ALL, thats it :o) (sorry for my poor english) Thanks once again for your coments and ratings.
Laila
Hi, I've only been here on this web site for nano seconds and seen some tremendous works of art, yours is by far the best I've ever seen anywhere. Exceptional work and your models really look like that they enjoy what they are doing. I would only dream of doing something like this! Good night i'm off to dream again. Well done.
Oh, dear John,
you have such a various photographs where the main subject is the WOMAN and you presented them so well, even your NUDES are very natural and even poetic!
Love your PORTRAITS too and me too I need several hours to go through your immense Portofolio daer John.
I will be back :D
My best to you and warmest regards,
Biliana
P.S.
Thank YOU, daer John for your wonderful words on my Photography! You put it so well in WORDS, that I am speachless...
Cannot say enough about your gallery, Having read your Bio I am amzed that you get such wonderful shots with just natural light and a flash, but like you I find that a simple one light set up makes the models more relaxed. Envious of you for finding so many beautiful women to photograph. Congrats to you and to them for the wonderful body of work that you have presented here. I look forward to seeing more.
Dear John, Your images are nothing short of exquisite! Something to aspire to for sure. I am indeed flattered that you rated one of my images so highly - thank you. Its great to have your comments for a hobbyist like me. Your portfolio is like a breathe of fresh air, its inspirational and one can keep viewing it forever. I consider it as one of the finest in the PN. My best Regards.
Dear John, I say this with the best of intentions. You seem to have quite a few nice photos in your portfolio, but also many that are nothing special (we all do), unfortunatly I feel the good ones just get lost in the sheer volume of photos. I find myself scrolling faster and faster as I go down. I think your portfolio would greatly benefit from a much narrower selection. And I wouldn't mind larger sizes either, some are really hard to admire when they're that small. JMHO. Regards /antonio
Antonio, many thanks for this comment. I appreciate it and you are right of course. However there are several reasons why I post pictures of lesser quality. One is to receive criticism (which is very helpful) and not only praise, the second is to gain knowledge of what is widely acceptable or not. I have interestingly found that many of the photos that I like remain totally ignored, whereas I am at other times astonished to discover the commercial acceptance of some others. This is very interesting when vying for publication. That being said, I do remove large quantities from time to time. Regarding the posting of small images, this is to protect the models by reducing the chances of the photos being copied and circulated on the net out of context. The more vulnerable the picture, the smaller I post it. I understand the frustration that it causes but I really feel that I have no other alternative. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to point this out.
Mr. Peri, thanks to visit and comment some shots of my portfolio. I admire your work and respect the dedication that you apply to each frame. Congratulations!
Jon, Your portfolio could be reduced by at least 75% and suffer no loss what so ever. Your themes are sorely repetitive, predictable informing us of absolutely nothing about you, your models or ourselves.
Mr Katz, the time that you have spent on composing this tirade on the futility of my portfolio 3 weeks after joining PN appears to me a little strange, particularly since my work is of so little interest to you and there is so much more to discover on this site, if it is new to you. On reading it furthermore, I am not sure whether it is me that you are more critical of or what you refer to as my work's supposed popularity among other members, in which case they appear to be as much if not more accused than me. That being said, I do not regret having this negative assessment added to this page, though I do believe that you could have expressed your thoughts more effectively by adopting a less personal and offensive manner, but let others be the judge of that. Should you wish to enlarge on this subject, I would ask you nevertheless to do so in private over the mail. I have replied to your comment but do not think that this is the place to debate the matter any further. Thank you. To the others that have spent more time on PN, they will know by now that there are two reasons why I frequently post my work of lesser quality (actually, I would put it at a higher ratio than does Mr Katz). The first is that in accordance with the purpose of PN, I am not searching for praise but for critiques which allow me to improve my photos, and I do so regularly thanks to the comments received, the second is that I do not possess a personal Web
Page and I use this as a mirror for selection by editors for my publications. That bring said, I removed at least 100 photos again in 2005 (including the entire Mother and Daughter series), as I have also done frequently before that in the past. ........ POSTCRIPTUM: this comment is a response to the remark above that has been censored by the administrators since I wrote it, thus rendering my reply a little strange in parts.
I do see gratuitous work in the photo.net nudes section. None of it is yours. As with any artist, not 100% of your work is appealing to me though all of it is tastefull and well done. I thank you for sharing in the photo.net way. I find your portfolio beautiful and a fine resource in the pursuit of my photographic studies. This is what photo.net is all about... right? Cheers.
Hey John, seems the comments from the unfortunate Mr Katz have been somewhat
reduced in size from the version I saw yesterday. Hope that was done by him
rather than at your behest. His criticism was harsh and badly worded. However,
if you go to his page and follow his trail you will discover you got off lightly.
This man, who as far as i can make out shows no evidence of having taken a photo
himself, felt free to vent his spleen on several portfolios in a spiteful and
entirely unconstructive way.
It's a shame that such a careless post raised the issues it did with you because
it is an interesting point. Are your pictures studies of women who 'decided
to express pride in who they are,' or are you (and by extension those who admire
your work) simply a bit of an old pervert, taking artless snaps of young flesh
for others to drool over?
Quite a bit of 'clean-up' on the Katz page. Last night I was looking at his page and he had rated about 20 photos - 19 of them from an 'Albany Katz' - all at scores of 6 and 7. Now, those ratings are gone. Hmmmmmmmm........
Ignore the idoitic Mr Katz! I'd have to say that anybody who can take the above pictures is either very lucky or very good .... nobody can be that lucky so it follows that you are very, very good indeed!
a great portfolio ... I am an amateur ... liked ur portfolio very much ... great art ... greetings from Kolkata, India ... nice meeting u ... there r many things to learn from u ...
The Original image is taken by Mr.Jean-Sebastien Monzani, his gallery address is : http://www.photo.net/photodb/member-photos?user_id=405463&include=all .And the original photo address is : http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo photo_id=2681252 . Here is Mr.Monazni permission for sharing this image: "Hello, You can maybe change it to just wish everyone a Happy Valentine if you want :) As you like. Cheers. JS" If you dislike have this photo on your portfolio, can disapproved my comment or tell me to delete it. But I send this image only for Lovers, like you. For whom that always has rainy day, but not water, letters or hearts, whom always get beautiful models from sky!!! :) " Cheers " ;P
John: If the figures in your images are "the girl next door" I would love to know where you live. I'll do some serious sidewalk sitting. Wonderful work.
I am so much inspired!!Thanx John, absolutely magnificent portfolio. And to think that I 'm trying so hard to get my friends to take their clothes off and pose...
WOW WHAT MORE CAN I SAY THIS ONE OF THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST! PORTFOLIO I HAVE SEEN UP TO NOW BUT I HAVE A LOT OF PICS TO GET THUR? BUT AS FAR AS UP TO THIS DATE WELL DONE LOVELY AND VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE THANKS A LOT ALLAN
What an exquisite porfolio you have. Many of the photos such as those in the shower or a model preparing her hair remind me of the daily poses in which I would accidentally catch my wife. Those ordinary, shared moments that are fleeting and yet precious because they make up one's intimate memories. Beauty is different for different ages and I guess we are touched by it because beauty is, lamentably, always ephemeral...be it the pudginess on the back of an infant's hands and fingers, the lankiness of a teenager, the elegance of young women that you do so well to capture, the fruitfulness of a pregnancy, the character lines on an elderly person; it is our universal endeavour to try and captured it precisely because we instinctively know it will all changed in all too short a time.
You should be proud of doing that work so well, in fact, I am proud to be a member of a group that includes such technically accomplished and sensitive a person. I also happen to think your comments on the size of the photos, and the note that your models do follow comments made about the photos demonstrate that you are a very well-thought-out person who cares and respects your models and your craft. You probably would not need to refute some of the poorly thought remarks that some people make as they reflected mostly on the writer and not on your art. Kindest of regards
Thank you Hung. Among the beauty that impress me the most is the generosity that some people like yourself are able to express towards others, it is also by far the most touching.
It is less a matter of flattery than of compassion towards other people's integrity in their way of seeing things, when compared to
their own.
Beauty is indeed ephemeral and short lived, but it is also something that leaves an indelible image in our minds, and we should capture and cherish it whenever we can. The most vivid memory that I retain of my models is their acceptance to show who they and to share this with us for a few precious moments. It is the act of communication that transpires at that moment that to me is the most unforgetable of all.
You have a unique style in your photos, and I think its great I have read some of your answers to comments and you appears like a sympathetic and intelligent person as well as a good photographer.
Thanks John for your comment on my picture. Was really an HONOUR to see you have visited my portfolio and lost time commenting and rating one shot!
Thanks again.
You have a brilliant portfolio here and i'm sure the best shots are at home in your private collection.
;-)
John, you have a fantastic portfolio! I just saw a part of it... I must stay for hours here... Congrats! By the way... I did not know (of course) that your model ...was Greek! Keep shooting.
not only on your remarkable portfolio (b&w nudes are my favourites) but also on you being able to put the exact right words on your motives and on your photography. I noticed they precisely matched my feelings despite the fact that I would have been unable to phrase them. I share your p.o.v. that nudity is not an end but a means to an end: bring out more of the model true self, put her "in danger" or "on an edge", let her do something extra-odinary which will lead to drop momentarily the mask(s) we all wear in our daily lives. I also share with you this gratitude towards the model for sharing these precious moments of intamacy with the photographer and the viewers. Thank you so much for sharing these photos with us. Keep up the good work.
.... am amorous in your models (they are truly relaxed and beautiful in all meaning of that word ) and i love your work ! You have wonderful presentation and you should be very proud on yourself.
I am very happy to have found your gallery.
I am sure that what I am going to say has already been said, before, but I have to say it myself, because otherwise I will not be comfortable.
1. I admire your skill, and wish someday I can take such good photos.
2. I also admire your ability to build rapport with your subjects. And your ability to transmit that atmosphere trough your images.
3. I specially enjoyed your portraits section, because many of them seem to reveal more of the personality of the women you photograph.
4. To me your work is a grat inspration and I believe that have leraned and keep on learning from it for years to come.
...and you have held those beautiful, intimate, vunerable moments forever in your photographs. Dear John, looking through your porfolio, you are well-deserved to be the most celebrated photographer in PN. I admire how you create comfortable, trusting relationships with your models to pose for you effectlessly in their very private ways. May the creative force be always with a talented photographer like you. What a blessing for the women to have met and photographed by you in such splendid ways. Of course, it's also quite a delight for us to encouter your artwork. Warm regards, tanya.
BTW,thanks for giving comment on my "legs & roses" photograph. I am also very fascinated by nude photography. As a novice, i've got a looooong way to go:-(. Hope i will catch up with your art some time :-). warmly, tanya.
In my experience the more that you show of your portfolio the better. I believe that there has to be a balance of work, which I think your portfolio demonstrates.
I think we too often get caught up in what others think is good or bad. I truly do not believe that there is really a bad shot. Each indiviudal photographers grows in different levels.
Your portfolio, stands out as one of the more refreshing and inspirational within this site.
I applaud you for your uniquness in each image. You've captured what we love in women and have taken it much further with throwing a twist in here and there.
While this is in no way to disqualify the work of others, it is apparent that you have a gift for capturing the beauty of women. Your shots are natural and from the looks of these photos, you have a splendid eye for quality. I'm sure for every photo that you post there are countless others that you do not as they do not turn out as well (speaking from experience). Keep up the great work and continue to show us that beauty is not always found in the editing or the professional models, but in the typical women that surround us every day.
Michael
(NOTE: Many have asked where you find such beautiful models. I would say to them, they only need to start using the eyes they were given and they would see beauty surrounds them.)
Dear John... i not have idea, for explain my sensation for your work. Sorry for this, but sometimes, the words are not sufficent for some things.... My "light experiments" is nothing....
Greetings dear John Peri!
I saw all of your photographs. They are so experience for me you know...I will start studying photography with my lovely Child. I'll hope you will see them someday and give me your hints. Thee models you have are very nice, some are beautyful, but not such as my ;)
Your portfolio is very exploring for me, I enjoyed every work of yours in some way. You've done great job, so interesting for me.
Hope to seeing some coments on my comming in few days photos.
I have no idea what I would write more, one more thing - thank you for addiction and any one more word on my portfolio.
sorry for my bad english ( i'm italian )
your work is a mix of full sensuality
the models, or a big part of them , are really special
compliment
your pics are really nice
Seb
the women know their sensuality
and they love to show the ability of their seduction
with their parternses to reach the mutual pleasure
But also for game and for the happiness to feel himself/herself/themselves beautiful and desirable them they love to show of if
the powerful female sensuality
Yours is a sensual playful harvest that will sip happiness
The pleasure to show and the pleasure to look
You are able of to be the accomplice of their exhibitionism
You have an elegant taste and you are as us men a little voyeur
But your page is marvelous
You with the Nikons have a good time and we with you enjoy of your job
compliments
gino
John...What can I say that you have'nt heard already? Your portfolio is fabulous. You have mastered a difficult type of photography and have turned it into an art form. The use of lighting, computer art and tha ability to portray the models in a new and refreshing light sets you above the crowd. Your work somehow reminds me in a way of Slastyonoff...excellent! Thanks for sharing.
Just because you want to capture as more genuine photos I've listed the
most genuine and great to my opinion. Few in your great portfolio but
true. Many would be in the list below but had either heels on the models
or an untrue set like the pillow missing or the pillow was 30 cm ahead of
the head that was on the air!

well I hope I contributed something. Carry on with your great work.
John...I offer sincere thanks for your kind words concerning my body of work from about a month ago. I sincerely appreciate accolades from the master that you are.
your words give me confidence. you couldnt imagine how much it means to me. i wanted to talk to you about a school that i was thinking about going to...do you know anything about the Academy of Arts University in Cali? But anyways, i wish i could literally give you a hug for your words, truly. internet hug: *hugs* :D
I'm sure one more comment of congratulations on some really great photographs is not required. I am here to do that though. Yours was one of the early portfolios that I ran across when I first joined PN. I always enjoy stopping back by. Such beauty exhibited here and to think that just a little over a hundred years ago few would know of the beauty seen from your eyes. You do a great job and I really enjoy seeing your additions to the fantasy folder. Perhaps because of my own love of the art format of photography. The trememdous body of work that remains has so many wonderful images as well that I look forward to seeing them all as time allows. Thanks for your contribution and kind personality and oh yes, congratulations on some really great photos. Regards, ~Sky
How much more better can you get its the best set off photos ive seen and they just get better....great thanks for this look at your art...THANKS ALOT..ALLAN
...a talented photographer. But it is your subject matter, not your skill, that has made you the most 'interesting' artist on photo.net.
http://www.photo.net/pvt/most-interesting
I would love to see you take your mastery of light and form and apply it to something else. Stretch your horizons, Mr. Peri. You will be amazed at how far they can go.
Robert, I have ceased to be amazed long ago and continue to stretch my horizons since early chilhood (I was 13, 14 years old when I took some of the earlier photos posted here). To assume the opposite is rather presumptious and derogatory.
I continue to photograph all kinds of things but do not see the interest in posting them here alongside with glamour, particularly my pictures of children which remains one of my favourite themes.
I am also flattered and amused when I read of mastery of light. I use a flash attached to the camera.
Lastly, I have not requested any distinction in showing my work on PN, whose sole purpose for me is to receive feedback and improve my output. It works, since I have things brought to light regularly that I would never have imagined on my own. For an artist, it is also interesting to see what has popular appeal or not. Personally, my own taste differs frequently.
John I looked at the folio and I find it really great. I read your comments and I find them very sincere. Master of medium, light, subject is a matter of taste. Some photos hit MY taste to maximum - I find them really good. You'll never make Playboy photos without some 20+ lights and momentarily dimming lights in your town:).
I am amazed with the size and quality of your folio and I admire you greatly even though you use just an overhead flash. I received comments about the "next level" too, but have no idea what that means. Progress takes time. I am nowhere near your league, probably I never will be, but am trying to make my work progressively better.
Even though I am not qualified about criticizing your work and telling you what to do, I am your fan (if it means anything to you) and am anticipating your new (or old) photos.
Hi John, I added you as an interested artist in my list...I looked to your artwork as a slideshow I am very impressed about your talent and I invite you to visit my homepage if you have time...many thanks and best wishes...Ayyad
Hi John, thank you for your nice comment about my work...thanks for being my friend, it is an honor and pleasure for me. Thank you for your kindness, I shall return soon to see more of your beautiful albums. One word can?t express my feeling about this stunning art photography you presented here in your portfolios, each of your shots are piece of art gallery display I love your work, and the way you are shooting nude women. They are really beautiful subjects to shoot, draw, and paint...it is a wonderful approach and trend. I have to admit that you have a remarkable eye for beauty and composition. You portrayed your models with passion and profound light. Not only that but I like your play with color and your motives in your photography. Thank you so much for sharing these photos with us...I had a great pleasure reviewing your amazing artwork of photography...best wishes...Ayyad
Hello John! Firstly thank you for your time and kind words in regards to some of my work, i am truly honoured! Secondly, the body of work you present here for us to view is unique and inspirational. I believe art reflects the soul and heart of the artist/composer. You are in a league of your own and your beautiful work desrves to be hung on walls where the eyes of the world can fully appreciate your gift! All the best!
John, If a picture tells a story, this picture evokes a steamy novel.
Excellent lighting that moulds a perfect setting.
Can't say this is the best of your portfolio because there are just to many excellent presentations so for whatever my opinion as a viewer is worth... 7/7
Thanx for the comment!
I don't have my art posted anywhere just yet, but I will have a professional website up and running within a month or two, and then I'll post it on photo.net;)
your pictures are looking beautiful by the way, but that's no surprise;)
take care John,
John, just to say that you have an amazing portfolio. This is a very comun and easy thing to say. But for me the most impresive thing is how you work with bodies. I can appreciate your imagination to create a new poses in order to cach the most sensual thing in a beautifoul model. Because one thing in the fact, I mean, to be beautifoul, ant other thing is to know how to capture this beauty. Like the, teachers, one thing is to know, other different and more difficcoult thing is to know how to transmit the things you know.
The models seams to be like plastic dolls. Another question is the light, also impossible to control at all, but on your pictures it seams it is possible. Congratulations.
Your portfolio is amazing... Your photos are always a pleasure to view, and many thanks for your comments and ratings on my photos.....
I do have a question for you... do you use Personal Release Forms for all your models? Would I need to use one if I'm shooting people off the street?... I would like to know how to word a Personal Release Form, so I'm ready should I ever need one... any ideas?.. Thanks John...If you are ever in Bangkok....Give me a shout !!
Cheers...Jeff
Dear John, thank you for your comments that give me courage to continue shooting. Sometimes looking all the pictures of brilliant talents like yours, I feel that I must stop shooting. But I go on just from an inner feeling to express my self. You have a great idea about the nude model and I will try to follow your advise. I admire your work and the way you approach your models. Hello from Greece.
After reading ALL the comments posted, I'm not sure what other praise I can commend to you, and each model, except that your work (and others at PN) has inspired me to sign as a member early 2007. It's obvious that you would be competent photographing any theme, but as a master of the nude genre you have truely captured my attention. Personally, I shoot 99.9% outdoor natural locations, but found your indoor work so rewarding. Your personality as a photographer reflects thru the models who appear so relaxed and trusting in your presence, and it's that combination that produces such a good image that you have captured in such a special moment of their lives.
I would like to wish you and your family Happy Holidays and a Good New Year! And say thank you for your support with your ratings and comments on my work over the last year. We are hoping to post some good weather photos this year. We start shooting sky photos in April thanks again for supporting my work.
thank you john, and the same to you:)
I haven't been able to update my photos in a little while, as I've been diligently working on an art show here in London, Ontario...
soon I'll be back;)
until then, your photos are looking great! as always;)
The world of photography is so wide and varied. What you shoot is worlds away from what I do. Each of us has our own unique skills, viewpoint and talent. At the nude, I've seen few who could do what you do and do so beautifully. Your talent is amazing. I'll continue to study your work. Thank you for sharing.
John you have mastered how to get the most of the ambient light and your models on almost every single photo on your portfolio. Beautiful girls looking at your camera very calm and natural, and sexy poses without crossing the lines are also very important and you have just done that perfect as well. Congratulations. PS. I have a photo in the portraits section on my portfolio with title "Inspired from PN members". I make the collage about 3 years ago after looking into your portfolio.
Your stuff is definately way above average. I need to spent more time on your pictures when I have time, and am not in Dunkin Donuts InternetNet cafe in Berlin where everyone can peer over my shoulder and report me to the guy with the baseball cap with "Frstuck, dat kan man" on it.
Hi John. I think you really have very good eye for compositions and beauty - but i can`t help wondering this: does that eye work with any other subject than with a female body? After rolling down your portfolio i was almost out of breath because of the amount of nude-shots. The amount was so big and the amount of any other shots was so small that very soon i couldn`t see much of a beauty or uniqueness in any single shot. It also created very strong impression of woman`s beauty and body as her only worth in your eyes. I don`t claim it is so, i don`t know you, but...it just don`t feel right that someone uses womans body so lavishly, as if woman would be same thing as some object - though this is "only" about photographs. It just feels wrong. Don`t mind, these are only my opinions and feelings. I`d really like to see other subjects by you, for example nature and abstract things. I think your eye would probably work well with them also:)
I'd like to add a comment to my friend Johanna's remark. To a degree, I've thought about this. With erotic pictures, in a way, the attraction is obvious, which questions the aesthetics of the work. Its like, guns, in a manner. It is beautiful, the glimmer on the steel, but it is also questionable. There are a huge market for pornography, and erotic stuff, perhaps on multiple levels. But still, I dont think beauty should be questioned. Usually it is questioned because of the restrains the pathetic society embedded on our minds. So if I can convinced some of my lady friends to shed there clothes for pictures, I would be delighted, and my only remark to them would be "Hey, right now, the only thing I have on my mind is what is beautiful. It is about nothing else." I think John's stuff is like that. But I agree with you that pornography, in a particular mindsetting or abuse, is vulger.
What could I possible add to all these comments? Your portfolio is amazing. It is fun, beautiful, sexy, and playful. The photographs are technically superb, and more importantly full of life. Thank you so much for sharing your photos with us. Dan
Johanna Julia Vilja/Louis Botha:
Thank you for your comments. I do not usually reply on this page, because I think it should focus primarily on what others think and not oneself, and I am glad when these comments turn out to be so varied. However, I will do so briefly on this occasion, because what is questioned here primarily is the raison d'etre for this portfolio.
As I already mention on my front page, my premise, contrary to what Johanna implies above, is that these images are a means for women to express their confidence and independence. I have tried to search beyond the plastic, inanimated beauty that represents women in so many people's view. Women, understand this, and I imagine that is largely why they pose for me. The overwhelming majority of models in my portfolio are friends and others that I meet. They are very largely well educated, self assertive and independent young women. The portfolio is filled with students, graduate students, young doctors, lawyers, economists and other succesful young women that represent our society today. I wonder if it is the photographer or the models that you underestimate Johanna. If they are stupid or fear being perceived as such, would they be on these pages? On the contrary, I believe it is their way of asserting their independence and maturity, and their freedom from prejudice and dogmas as regards women's beauty. Also a way of demonstrating that a woman's beauty can be represented otherwise than through exploitation.
Interestingly, a large number of my supporters on PN are women. More importantly, I have the support of my models. This is the page they look at when they decide to work with me or not.
I have stated elsewhere on this page that I do not only photograph glamour. However, apart from some early work that I have posted here taken primarily in schooldays, I do not find it appropriate to mix together other subjects, expecially not photographs of children which is another primary focus in my work.
Beyond the showcase for my pictures, which has served me well with regards to contacts outside of photonet, it is also my means of classifying my work and seeing it dated on one page. I will thus continue to add to it perdiocally.
Thank you for your comments and for giving the opportunity to reply.
Hey John, after having looked around for a while i must say you are by far the most interesting nude photographer i've seen on PN (do correct me if i'm wrong). Keep it up.
As I went through your portfolio, I was taken to a wonderful place ... life through your eyes. I had such a great time travelling through your photos. You bring to life the incredible beauty and personality of these women. It was a gift to be on the other end of your lens.
you did say (you did quote ofcourse): "Any photographer who says he's not a voyeur is either stupid or a liar"
You are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo right and thankssssssssssssssssss making woman so beautifull, because they are, whatever forms they have
with love Els ( and I love your strange fantasies in portfolio ;D, I think that's the most important thing(k) in live........ fantasie)
Truly an excellent portfolio that I keep coming back to. You manage to establish an excellent rapport with the models and using the light to your advantage, composition and exposure is good all the way, it is the artistic quality that makes me return to your port. keep posting:)
Kind regardd
Stig, Oslo-Norway
. . . about many of your nudes is that the models have pubic hair, and not trimmed back to look like a Hitler mustache. Bare pubises always say "little girl" to me and, I suspect to a great many men who would like to imagine the models as being younger than they really are.
Lovely portfolio, though. I certainly envy you your circle of willing-to-pose friends, not to mention your eye and sense of lighting.
John, your "favourite little muse, model, friend and accomplice ... all in one" is a stunningly beautiful young woman. Please let her know that from me.
Your work is of the talent.....that, of a master. I praise your work and your sense of beauty. Thank you for sharing such magnificence.
Amazing portfolio and beautiful black and white nude portrait, they are really great. You are doing a very interesting work and your pictures are fine and well done. Best regards.
Alessandro
John,
Thanks for your beautiful essay about your work. I've only been a semi-serious photographer (too much else going on...) for 5-6 years and never really got nude photography. Well, thanks to your essay, I at least understand the basics of yours. Love it. I love the feminine side of the human spirit you capture. The nudity is superfluous. Now that I see that, I'm like... of course! Thanks.
I see an obvious progression in your work...and the results are wonderful. keep going...give us more art...and give those women a visual voice.....i can only dream of doing work like this....my profession would never allow it....seeing your wonderful work will at least allow me to see what can be done in this genre.
I think it's incredibly weak that an opinion that differs from all of these is automatically removed from this long list of accolades. That opinion was short and to the point...and it was just an observation. It was not insulting. It's just one opinion John...why so threatened by an opinion? Your personal email to me, demanding that I remove it was strange and a bit Orwellian. Many men and women happen to enjoy "genuine"(read:explicit) pornography. That's OK with me. I just don't like the pretension that your work is anything but the same, hiding behind the title "art". Or "helping women achieve confidence". You CANNOT be serious. Only in your case, let's call it "porno-lite". A few others above made note of this as well. Perhaps the only difference is I'm being a little more direct about it. It is no coincidence that you are listed(by about 1000) as the most "interesting" photographer on this forum.
Once again...just an observation. Nothing personal. I believe you asked us to critique your work.
Adam, I did not remove your statement. If I do that, there remains a sign that says so. It was removed by the administrators of this site that considered you were gratuitously rude and aggressive in your formulation, which you were.
Though you insist in attacking me personally in addition to giving your opinion on my work, I will chose personally to leave you remark which is now more carefully worded. Indeed, as you point out, it contrasts well with the majority of opinions above which, unlike yours, are often well documented and written by people that are able to distinugish between feminine beauty, sensuality and porn.
My opinion which is shared by many on this site is that an art critique says as much about it's author as the work. Now you have given your opinion, and I presume that I have the right to one too ? I have replied with equal candour. That should suffice.
The "personal" email I sent you that you refer to was an appeal to reason, in order to evade conflict. Once again, your original message was rude, it had no place here, hence it's removal by PN. The accusation now and the unfriendly, self righteous manner in which you formulate it is once again gratuitous. For you to apologize of course would assume that you possess the self confidence that you appear to expect of others.
John, you definitely show your love for beautiful women in your photograph. I do appreciate the beauty and the edgeness of your portfolio. Excellent work.
I will say that your nude images show and give a mood that I have seen in no other work; all your models have a look of natural seductive beauty that is captured in good taste; to achieve this as a photographer is your ability to be placed above and apart from many. In all your work there is a vibe of fun, boldness and beauty revealed seductively in good taste.
Thank you Jonathan, that is very flattering, I am honoured.
Some people, albeit few, call me all kinds of funny names above, but I do insist on the profound affection and respect in which I hold my models. I would like to believe that it is the reason why they chose to work with me. Thank you once again.
John. I have learned from your work and always find that your images have such an intimate feel to them, they are wonderful. Thank you for your very flattering comment on my work, coming from you I am really appreciative. My compliments, Bill
Well John I have ended up here by following your comments to your bio and portfolio. Your portfolio is far to large for me to digest in one setting. So I have made it to the " Nudes in black and white" gallery and shall return later to see the rest. Your comment about what I should do with my flowers is pretty much what I do . The nudes in my portfolio are all from another period in my life. I had an exhibition last year and mixed some of what you see here with my flowers of today. I worked in nudes for a 5 or 6 year period in the early 70's. I split my time than between the island of Crete and the Swiss alps. I really enjoyed working in nude. The problem was I sold very little, I was continualy being asked to make my images more sensual or erotic. Something I see you do very well. What I find intriging about your visit is that for about a week now I have been contempulating doing some more nude work and Bingo, Mr nude himself visits my site. Are the gods trying to tell me something!! Anyway John I have enjoyed your site and shall return...............all the best..............roger
Very good portofolio. With images of beaty like in daily life. I love the way you play with interiors and manage to stay on the edge of beauty and sexuality. That is an art on itself. Not to make the viewer get arroused, but to let them experience the beauty of it.
...looking at one of your photographs = looking at all of your photographs. Your work is very repetitive.
A radical editing down to maybe 50 photographs would really help to look at your portfolio.
You're too kind John, you've always left such nice comments in and around my portfolio:)
There is always a possibility, there are just 2 obstacles I foresee, the first is getting there;) and the second is my own insecurities.
Your models are beautiful, I fear I would pale in comparison.
but there is a chance...
Dear John, it was a lot of time we don't meet us each other!...but I'm very happy you have looked and appreciated my...TRUMPETS...from my folder on Arezzo's Giostra del Saracino!...I should like to know your opinion on all the folder! Thanks for your ATTENTION, John!...Ciaomau!
It's incredible to think how many photos you've added, even just since I've been a member... I'm not sure I'll ever have that many posted! I adore you John...
I've re-added the Dorothy series, as I got eager and added them before some necessary touch ups;) I got some terrible ratings, of course;) So we'll see now; doesn't bother me all that much, there are quite a few people on this site that rate without reason...
That being said, It's a beautiful stormy day outside, I think I'll have a tea and sit on the balcony!
Hi! I consider your pics some of the best example of nudes that can be sexy, glamour AND clean at the same time. Even funny, if we think about the sequence with girls and Andy Warhol-style paintings. They can only be considered as a tribute to women beautiness. If I was a woman, I'd be glad to see images like them. Nowhere I saw a object woman or a provocative scope: I think it's very difficult with nudes! Really, I'm not interested to became a nudes photograph (actually, I'm an absolute beginner with every subject) but I'm always glad to see that in photo.net there are many people who can teach something with their shots...
I finally took a look at your nude figure studies folder again and I rapidly realized that I should have looked at (and studied) it in detail much earlier. There are some great fotos and great poses there!
Wandered up and down your portfolio again tonight. Simply enjoyable. You seem to draw so much personality from your subjects in settings simple and mundane (that's a compliment:-).
A subsantial body of work with great variation of technique. My favourite section is the Nude figure studies, I was immediately struck by what I see as a fresh approach to a well "worn" theme. As I said, its fresh its new and to my eyes novel and very welcome. I'd be quite happy to see some of these pictures mounted and displayed on my walls...
Hi John....A delayed thank you for your extensive comments on one of my photos recently. I certainly do appreciate it. What a wonderful collection of photos you have. You maintain quite a variety yet your style always shines through. I keep an eye on you often and seem to learn something.Cheers!
I just love the effort put into this portofolio, I also like many of the poses & models. Very expresive thinking and impresive shooting. A straight 10+ from me. Andi
Hey John,
Time after time a find myself clicking on your thumbnails in various collections and ratings. I want to congratulate you on a very impressive and beautiful portfolio. I definitely will keep on clicking and admiring your work!
Cheers,
Rob
When one considers that many of your models have little or no experience, you always manage to come up with a compelling image.
The lighting, pose, cropping and whole ambience of all your shots is right on the mark, and I must confess, that I have used you for my inspiration in some of my own work.
John,
I am delighted to have received your comment on my shot!! And I agree all ur remarks ... thank you very much!! You are one of mine preferred Photographer ... and I watch ur shoots with admiration.
Best regards
Fabio
Hi John! Iam over thrilled by your work.Women in your portofolio are very beatyfull and they look having a good time. They seem trusting you, by the same time i think that they are trully respected by you, Your photos are sensual dynamic, erotic and very very beatyfull. Congrats , keep upp the good work / 7/7
Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.
I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.
John, it has been just over two years since I have joined photo.net and it has taken me that long to comment on your work. Since I no longer desire to befriend the "most popular" photographer on this site or have comments reciprocated on my portfolio, I believe that my thoughts regarding your work are worth writing. After shooting predominantly women for the past three years and studying the photographs of the greats who photographed predominantly women as well - Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, Jeanloup Sieff, Gilles Bensimon, Herb Ritts and Bruce Weber - it is now clear that your talent is exceptional. You photograph women in a fresh, spontaneous, beautiful and timeless manner, with immaculate attention to the proportions - the legs and arms are never foreshortened, the light on the face is never harsh. I have been privately critical of the seeming lack of variety in your lighting in the past, but have come to the conclusion that the light really does not matter - as long as the woman is photographed beautifully. Photographing a woman beautifully is your genius and your photographic legacy. I have not consciously tried to emmulate your work, but it is quickly becoming clear to me that you have reached a place in the practice of your art that I am only now beginning to approach. I will forever be preoccupied with lighting - it is my fate in this life - but with the knowledge that it need not be a focus to excel in this particular type of photography. After all, one can always recognise a "John Peri Photo" from a mile away, and THAT is the hallmark of a great photographer's work. Congratulations on a remarkable body of work, John. Sincerely, Kelvin.
Extensive portfolio of good nude images and glamour, in which is reflected your great domain in this topic and that you try with good pleasure. Greetings John
Hi John,
Love your work.
You said you liked my work a couple of years ago...
I agree that we have a similar conception of using digital for glamour pieces.
Would love to correspond and maybe trade.
Best

Hi John... women are beautiful creatures... true... but we needed someone like you remind us just how beautiful they are... a true tribute to beauty of the fairer sex... Well done John! Please visit and critique at leisure. Cheers!
No, it's not one of those dear John letters, I just dropped in to thank you for the critique on my picture "COLOURS" and what I saw was some excellent photography. Congratulations on your work and thanks for sharing it. I am not a registered member yet but as soon as I put my work in order I will be posting some more photos myself. Merry Xmas and a better new year.
Dear Mr Peri, I live in Paris and I would like to become your neighbour. Would you be kind enough to warn me in case an apartment (even very small) would be for rent in your building...My only requirement would be: no elevator but a narrow stair. Best regards, Eric
....and of course, thank you for sharing such a good work.
Great and extraordinary work and what a great amount of good pictures. I can see some influence of the photographer Dahmane, isn?t it so? Congrats! Burak
after more than a minute of scrolling down all comments!!!!! it will be nice to know if you will find it anyway! but that its not the reason i am here. the only way i could express my critique towards your work is by saying that i would gladly take my close off for you and not be ashamed or shy of my nakedness. one question thou: are you get them (girls) with chocolate?!!!!!
Mr. Peri; Your work is as you are aware simply incredable. I had not thought much of portrait photography until recently becoming involed with photo.net. I will use your work as a mark to acheive. Kudos jef
I've been enjoying your photos for a few years now, didn't think I'd have much to add to what everyone else has already said but i'll say it anyways. Awesome photos, excellent compositions. Thanks for sharing with us.
John,
Even more than your photos, I enjoyed mauro pelella's critique. Even more than mauro's critique I enjoyed the comments on his page. Also I just saw what I think are your lastest two submissions. -meir
"Anything but glamour" should be renamed to "Everything in photo". I feel too small photographer to say anything else than admiration for your work, glamour or not. I thank you for sharing these pictures with all of us.
John,
You are a genuinely great photographer. I have been watching your work for some time now and you are consistently creative. Bravo!. I wish I had your creative eye.
jim
Hello dear John, how r u? I missed my friends here too much, I missed your photo too. but I never comeback till the policy of this site is wrong! I invite you to visit my new photos at: http://shadpay.multiply.com
John your work is brilliant. I am a fan!
this is the photographer I wanna be when I grow up. lol.
gorgeous models. where do you find them?
Love it. great work.
John ; for years now i have been a big fan of yours; your work ; i keep reading a lot of negative comments about your nudes here and on Flickr. i,am sure you must be aware of them. i applaud your willingness to turn the other cheek and keep doing the work you do. the most beautiful and brilliant nude photography.
sincerly Joe Baker
Life is Beautiful photography inc.
No artist expects approval to be unanimous, nor should it be so either. Critique is an essential component of the creative process.
Thankfully however, the people I suspect you refer to that may express their dislike in an irrational way are a small percentage of the whole, as are their comments, and without doubt they are considered so proportionately, both by others and myself.
I have to admire your work , for every portrait tells me the character and mood of the model. Their eyes reflect their souls and make me part of their being. I feel privileged to be part of that moment in time and being able to share that. Thank you John for portraying their feelings and beauty at the same time. It is hard to say what portrait struck me most, they are all excellent , I narrowed them down to five but in the end this one I found the best. Its all about her , nothing to distracts me from her beauty and above all, her spirit
Thank you Adrian, I appreciate that very much. A couple of people go on occasionally about how evident it is that "nudes" should get attention. But in fact, if one looks at "all times views" on the charts , the portfolio that is placed at the top of my files, immediately after glamour (and sometimes overtaking it) is "portraits". Love doing these, glad you noticed it.
Just looking over the portfolio John. I have always marveled at your ability to photographic your models in a way that captures their unique personalities and sensuality so very well. Congratulations.
Bill
hi john, i looked at your portfolio and you hav a great variety of images. its great to see, you know how to take a good photo, and use the human body well in doing so. I like the way you use the nude body as the sujbect matter of most of your photographs, but its not a sickening naked body matter, its an interesting and good one. keep up the good work.
Hello John, your work is excellent, a unique perspective that shows great sensitivity and respect. Truly artistic pictures!
Congratulations is the least to say.
Have a great summer and hope to meet you again.
There are hundreds of comments here about how great your photography is. Those are my sentiments exactly and I cannot improve or expound anymore than has been done. I would like to add that your comments on other people's photos are thoughtful and appreciated. You exemplify what I believe photo.net is meant to be: a place to display one's creations and learn to improve one's skills through presentation to and response from a community of thoughtful artists.
I enjoyed so much your precious gallery... especially the location in this kind of villa...the red stairs, the window...the brick wall , the open spaces/lofts...some of the accessories weared by the models including some of the shoes...also poses are real glamourous and elegant even if sexy...that's ALLURE ! Thanks for the "show".

So, a little more face John??? This reminds me of a scene from a Hungarian movie I saw years ago in which two friends were driving along and after spying a lovely lass moving away from them, one of the men made some kind of comment about her looking better going than coming after they pass her... His friend replied... 'I didn't turn around, she'll always be beautiful to me'. I always remember this when seeing a woman walking along the road and now I too never turn around...
Cheers, r.
particularly in nude segment which you have prepared in order as well as your presentation it's absolutely professional way. presently I'm working as chief cameraman in satellite tv channel in India. which lights r u used for the photo session. I will touch with you.
As I have said before, you have a fantastic portfolio. I greatly appreciate your critiques on my work, especially on the images where "the rules" are ignored.
thanks John, for your beautiful words about the comment on my pict..
I apreciate very well your comment because I recognize in you a real artist of photography.
It's true, what you write on my wall, about the half light, but I tell you that I choose this solution to create most atmosphera and less anatomic studio.
also becasue the model don't had a beautiful and perfect legs.
However I tell you that I like so much your way to do photography.
wishes
Maurizio
Many thanks Nuno. It's all there actually on my front page. I have two digital Nikon cameras, D70 and D80, each with a flash attached. I don't use any other equipment. Thanks for your visit.
Your work is great and I admire what you are able to do with simply a camera and a flash. But this gallery really speaks to me. The expressions on the kids faces, capturing the joy and the youth, the expression on the guard/soldier's face... You have to know how to capture that, it doesn't happen by accident. Very well done, and inspires me to try more. I'm a bit shy walking around with a camera on the street, but hoping I can get over it and capture things like this.
Thanks for sharing your work, of all types, with those of us trying to step up our game!
Dear friends, the problem if Jesus was God or not, it’s not for me. Only a thing is sure, his word of love and his example of life are good for all, without differences of religion, even for the atheists. All you know, from many centuries, in a lot of old cultures, in this period of the hear, people celebrated festivities and propitiatory rites: in the moment in which Sun was on the most law point of the horizon and was for starting again, slowly, to go up. This thing was also in the old Roman calendar. Christianity didn’t make other thing that “to transplant” the presumed anniversary of Christ’s birthday in the day devoted to the Sun. And this is just the rebirth of the Sun of Love that I wish to all you, my dear friends of PN, to you, to me who, loving photography, we need in our soul, in our passion, for our art,…LIGHT!
We all, all over the world, are crossing a very difficult moment. Like many other persons, I think, considering the way without return mankind was undertaking, it’s necessary a big act of love towards ourselves, all, one towards the other and, towards this our big…”spaceship” named Earth! Warm Regads, my friends, from…Ciaomau!
I hope this Christmas enriches your life; May each day be happy and bright, Overflowing with pleasure and love;
May your Christmas be filled with delight and may all your dreams come true...
Marry x.mas and a happy new photo year from

John, Thank you for taking the time to comment on my photograph of Jasmin. She is a terrific model who has fabulous birth marks that make her quite unique. Your work is always great. I especially like the entire Backstage series because everything looks so unposed. Mark
It is interesting given the spectra of images of women relaxing on a sofa or bed, that even though many appear similar, it seems that each woman has her own interpretation of relaxing.
Did you pose these, or were the models given room to express? I think it is also interesting how some seem at ease with their bodies and some appear a little rigid.
Anyway, you have an impressive gallery. Thank you.
Hello Jim. The models are given lots of latitude to express themselves, as you rightly say. but the interpretation depends not only on the model but the viewer also. Thanks, John
