Romania 1991

Whilst working for a local newspaper I was lucky enough to travel to Romania for the first time in August 1991, accompanying a lorry full of aid organised by FAB - Feed the Aids Babies, a charity in Gloucestershire.

We drove 1,700 miles across Europe to Breaza - through France, Germany Austria and Hungary, and unloaded the goods at a childrens home there.

The drivers were Mike Harney and Richard Arnold, and the trip had a profound impact on me - I have visited Romania many times since.
