I believe that there are some north east of me. Spring is coming and it will be a perfect time to explore. Stand by!

New to photography, you say? I really envy you. I've been pressing a shutter release button for eons and truly wish I had your keen eye when starting out.

You have some excellent series: your winter images, the children and some of the architectural shots are extremely good. You are on the right track. If anything, I would advice you to look for a softer light scheme, and experiment with monochrome to hone your touch for tonality and form.

Thanks for the comment on the Bryce Pick. It has also been my opinion that my piks have not held their sharpness. I am not sure if it is the upload or Photoshop doing this. I use "Save for Web" in PS and keep the photo's below 100k. This sometimes takes the quality slider below 1/2 depending on the type of input (digital, scanned slide, etc). Perhaps I should go to the forums for this one. Any suggestions from you anyone else reading this would be appreciated.

How do you upload for Photo.net?

Thank you! I upload by saving it in photoshop and then converting it through another photo editing software, in that program I just shrink the size of the image. I have noticed that I am always losing the sharpness/quality in my image so when I edit it to post I just add a little more sharpness.

To be completely honest I didnt like the portrait photos that you put up for critique. SO I came over to your portfolio not knowing what to expect. In the end I was presently blown away bye the rest of your portfolio. You have a huge talent for photographing animals. Your landscape are marvelous as well. It was a very pleasent suprise to look at your portfolio and I must say my hat is off to you!

Thank you William! I don't have any other shots of Iosepa...unfortunately this was the last real part standing. I do have a few mediocre shots of the cemetary there though. I'll have to get them and post them. I have really taken an interest in ghost towns, but have found that as I get around to them, Utah is not the best at conserving them. Utah has so many other points of interest that I think ghost towns are just not a priority to them. Thank you so much for your kind compliments. I know I still have such a long way to go though!

Firstly, thank you for your kind comments of my photo, after which I looked through your portfolio. You have a rare talent for photographing people, capturing the very essence of the moment as in "Momma's boy" and "Fathers Kiss" etc to name but 2, you seem to able to capture that raw emotion, a talent that as yet I have been unable develop within my own work with people, but one that I shall strive become equally proficient. I also love many other aspects of your work, too numerous to mention but briefly the Balloon Photo's and the Flowers are brilliant! Look forward to seeing more in the future!

Many people already left a comment before me, I agree with all of them, namely that you are a great photographer, but above all I want to say that I highly like the natural, yet special way in which you photograph people and the way you combine vivid but not overdone colors. You have a great own style!
Often one can see that professional photographers get "tired" and always make the same pictures, just with different people, but you keep very fresh!
