Steve Lowther , August 10, 2005; 12:55 P.M.

I see some wonderful potential here. I am seeing some "maturing" in your images as you move into the realm of a serious photographer. Follow the passion.

As a teacher, I would have you research the composition principles of high key and low key. These are very powerful, and can even enhance your ability to "see". I left some comments on your flower picture that you might want to consider.

I hope I have been able to contribute to your growth here. Contact me by email if you have any other questions.

Spencer Jimmie Lee , August 16, 2005; 07:18 P.M.

Greeting from Singapore

Mark, Your words on my portfolio is very encouraging. Thanks for your visit and you got nice pictures here too. Keep coming and keep in touch. God Blessed. ;~}}

Mark,

Hey man thanks for the kind words you left. I see some really great images in here. I see your experimenting with various lighting and PS effects. Thats good. I can't give any advise because I myself am just an amature but I can say great work & keep posting! Keep in touch, I'd like to see what you do next.

Alex Ku , August 28, 2005; 03:05 P.M.

Hi Mark

Thank you for my very first critique!:) In turn I will be sending over my very first comment for photo.net to you. I was a bit hesitant setting up my pictures here with so many other great pictures to view. Your critique is very important to me as I continue on with my career in photography.

Massimo Santoni , September 19, 2005; 10:17 A.M.

Thanks for your comment. You have a nice portfolio. keep shooting. Regards

Christopher Appoldt , September 26, 2005; 07:01 P.M.

Mark, I was both flattered and delighted to read your comments on my portfolio - I'm glad you enjoyed!

Your work finds me enthralled, and more than a little envious of the beautiful country you live in...I'll be watching for more, inspired and intrigued.

Also, keep in mind that I'll name my next folder for you, keeping in mind your catch of my sometimes off-setting sense of humor - leave it to someone who went to school in the UK to catch it:)

Cheers from New York, friend.

Ben S , October 14, 2005; 04:35 P.M.

Hi Mark, your enthusiasm is catchy, and I like that you are taking your camera into the real world while trying to create artful pieces. for my taste, i like your more natural work (vs. photoshopped). one thing, with digital images, I find it very hard to deal with bright highlights, and I see here and there that your images can run a little hot -- i often add contrast and have to remember to do it selectively in photoshop to prevent blown-out highlights.

but that is just technical stuff -- the story, the illumination of the heart, that is what i think matters most. hope to see more of your work.

Satya Banga , October 25, 2005; 10:51 A.M.

Thank you very much for visiting my portfolio and commenting on so many of my photos... I must say you have some really great photos here and I will definitely keep an eye on your portfolio.

Tibor M , November 02, 2005; 04:23 P.M.

Your pictures have an air of creativity, and you seem to have a good grasp of techniques to show what you see. I like your "painting" exercises. It is encouraging for me since I was playing with that too. You also have some excellent portraits. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. Greetings from wonderland!

James Oluoch-Olunya , November 04, 2005; 06:07 P.M.

Keep up the good work!

Sema chief!

Thanks for stopping by and dropping a line. Such comments are always welcome. I found the photoshop rework of "Precision & control" very cool!

Your photography has matured tenfold from the last time I had a quick glance at your porfolio (sorry for not responding sooner). You are experimenting with a large variety of themes from people to cars, color to mono and post picture capture manipulation. That is indeed very refreshing to see. Forget the flashy kit (tho sometimes it helps), this is the only way one's photographic potential will increase. And you have embraced this ethos!

Looking forward to seeing more of your work and thanks for contributing!

James

Sorry for being a bit late getting back - there's no "alert" to me when those comments are left, and so I only find them by chance, long after :). Thanks for your comments!

I'll say, nice work with your people photography! Your photos capture character and emotion with a nice, sharp simplicity about them. I guess I can see you're real good at getting your subjects relaxed and comfortable for the camera. I just wish my own friends were half as cooperative. Asians are really camera-shy. Argh.

Debra Cloud , August 22, 2006; 08:49 A.M.

Hello Mark

Hello. Great portfolio you've got there really nice still life pictures great depth and colour in them. If you intend to do any sports photography don't buy the 350D. Other than that it is a really good camera. The only disadvantage that it is slightly slow, 2fps , whilst my field needs the bigger fps. However, this helped me significantly in improving my timing. Concerning the lenses the 50mm f1.8 is a great lens. (One of my current lens orders) The 70-200mm f4 is ok for many applications other than indoor sports (Gyms are Dark, i find it difficult with an f2.8 lens) or football stadiums at night. Wish i have been helpful.

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.

Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Ken

Thanks for the Comment

You have a great and varied portfolio. Keep up the excellent work. Thanks for the comment on my image of the bride coming up the spiral stairs. Pointing out the shoe isn't nit-picking at all. Get this; that photo is over a year old and I never saw the shoe there! So thanks for pointing it out. Oops!

hey Mark, thank you for your recent comment on one of my photos... i went through your protfolio and i have to say it's a good one... recently i shot some private jet (for the first time i was taking photos of any airplane) and i shot quite similar photos to your 777 - the only difference is that 777 is a lot bigger than the one that i shot :)

best regards. greg

btw i was thinking about going to Kenya, so if i'll be able to realise my plans i'll drop you a line...

Marta and everyone...

Thank you very much for your concern. The situation is not very good here in kenya at the moment (there has been widespread violence following the results of the presidential election) We are praying that things calm down and life returns to normal soon!

My sincere thanks in advance,

Thank God, Kenya is now back to normal. It was a trying time where many lost all they had, but things have now settled. Thank you to all my PN friends and other well-wishers who donated, sent messages...or prayed for peace to prevail

Hi Mark, just a quick note to say how much I have enjoyed looking at your photos, and I do like the style of your website. I'm not sure if I'll ever make the standard necessary to post my pieces on photo.net, but viewing work such as yours does spur me to improve. I especially admire your portraits.

Best wishes Lindsay

Mark,

In visiting your portfolio after seeing a beautiful portrait you posted yesterday, I was rewarded by finding a collection of absolutely stunning images. Your portraits are wonderful - they are exactly what a portrait should be. When they can draw in a viewer who does not know the person in the image, then they have to have something special to them. Shots such as the one titled "Sisters", the one of your grandfather (unbelievably good) or your collection "People" are the type of image that keep me up at night wishing I had taken them - they are quite extraordinary. I have added your portfolio to my collection of special work to review, and I look forward to seeing what you post next. Keep up the great work! Mark
