You asked for another comment - here it is. I've seen your portfolio and you have some interesting photos there. You do have a lot more photos of the model in the photo that I left a comment on. That one photo is still my favourite from that session and that's why I said I'd have liked to see a little of her face in the light coming from the window. Good work! Mi piace molto la tua passione per il fotografare, tante cose e tanti particolari interessanti. Questa, secondo me e' la vera passione per la foto: fare tante foto diverse senza l'ossessione di bloccarsi su una in particolare che ti fa perdere l'essenza della foto stessa, cioe' l'attimo. Io, ad esempio, non ci riesco :) Complimenti.

Maurizio, what a thought provoking comment on "Stength and Beauty." I would have answered you earlier, but I only read your beautiful and thoughtful comment today. I agree with you. We are each connected in the great weave of existence; we are not just local, or even global citizens, but reside in the Universe as celestial beings. You are in Italy, I live near New Orleans, in Covington, Louisiana -- if we look up, it is possible to gaze upon the same star. Existing in such a small contextual frame does not diminish individuality, nor how we frame an image or any sensory perception a little differently, or sometimes perhaps VERY differently. We examine life from as many perspectives as there are snowflakes falling to earth in unique patterns.

Perhaps our eyes do not capture an image, but the image takes possession of the eye. My eye will be drawn to what I perceive in a particular way, not better, or worse, just different. We recognize one another spiritually when we are drawn to the same images, and this brings joy, as to strangers having just recognized a long lost friend. A reunion of spiritual selves. Perhaps manifestations of the great Phoenix bird, meeting once again. Have you read Joseph Campbell, a genius of mythology?

The paths of spiritual beings sometimes intersect at shared points of view, or diverge at others, but always travel on a parallel course in search of shared recognition. Our eyes become trained to the horizon in search of what is at once oddly old and familiar, and freshly new as well. I believe these experiences are connections of a spiritual nature.

Perhaps the camera is a variation of morse code, clicking out messages to those of a like eye. There is bliss in shared visions. Our spiritual selves are expressed in our pictures. Photography is a joy because it is creative. If we are creative, we must also grow spiritually. We live in the world, but I do not want to be so much in the external world that my feet become trapped in the miles of concrete we cover the earth with everyday, imprisoning the nature of external environment, and by complicity, our internal landscapes are trapped as well. Photography is one key to freedom from the ugly landscapes of war and lost humanity. Having a heart of wisdom, and the curious eyes of a child, and a camera -- this is a good life. ho effettivamente qualche problema con alcune foto. Sul mio PC le vedo come le vorrei, (saturazione/contrasto) ma una volta caricate perdono molto smalto. Proprio ieri sera ero alle prese con una terrazza sul mare e una foto fatta al concorso ippico di piazza di siena: entrambe, una volta sul web, erano ai miei occhi quasi irriconoscibili! Conosco teoricamente la causa, mi sto informando, ma non conosco ancora il modo per evitare questo problema. Ogni consiglio e' ben accetto! Detto questo, ti voglio veramente ringraziare per l'attenzione che hai dedicato alla mia foto e ai suggerimenti. Visitando il tuo portfolio ho ricevuto un sacco di input preziosi: e' quello che cerco. Continuero' a seguire i tuoi lavori!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night 11-7-07 and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. Maurizio: ho imparato a leggere i segni del destino, ad interpretarli. Non che io sia fatalista, anzi. Per� talvolta la nostra vita porta senza dubbio a dover "ringraziare" o "maledire" il destino, che diventa sinonimo di fortuna o sfortuna, a seconda del caso. I arrived at your portfolio because of a high rating you put on one of my images. I thank you :) I am glad I found my way here :) As I checked out your images, I discovered, through your comments, that only a few days ago you survived a serious auto accident! Life is ever so fragile. Normally, we live each day unaware of just exactly how fragile life truly is. For those that are fortunate enough to have that reality thrust upon us, life is never quite the same. Somehow, life becomes brighter & more curious. We appreciate not only the joy of life, but it's sadness more intensely. We become alive. Fasten your seat belt, you are in for the ride of your life :) From my heart: My wish for you is joy & happiness always :) My wish for everyone is that all could experience a brush with death first hand. I have no doubt that then there would be true peace on our earth :) Life is so quickly placed in it's proper perspective, a wondrously, fragile gift!

Life leads us through differnet pathes but all are for our own benefit. Some hardnesses may seem terrible at first, but turn out for the best in the long run... It's all the matter of how we perceive those... Sometimes we find ourselves in situations like that and it's a chance for us to reflect on what life really IS and HOW we are living it... You and your wife have been blessed with this gift of reflection and realization. I am glad that this whole accident thing hasn't led to a tragic ending and that you've been given the sencond chance! Purtroppo la vita ci riserva spesso delle sorprese, e non esiste prudenza che ce le possa evitare. Tanto si lotta e ci si affatica per poter raggiungere degli scopi, per poi accorgersi che un attimo, una distrazione possono vanificare tutto.

Penso che siate stati fortunati in un evento tanto cruento e catastrofico, e me ne felicito, umanamente come ci si dovrebbe felicitare per la vita di ogni essere umano, per la gioia di un sorriso o per l'istante fissato sulla pellicola....questa e' la vita, tanto bella quanto fragile, e come dici tu sta a noi riuscire a coglierne quegli istanti che la trasformano in qualcosa che val la pena di esser vissuta.

On a cruise around Europe in our yacht from 2005 to 2006 we ended up in Naples and stayed there for a few months and I can assure, the moment of departure was one of sadness.

But we'll go back. June this year we take off on a circumnavigation and the plan is to be back in Naples in next year. Our base will probably be the small town of Massa Lubrenze, just south of Sorrento, where my 7 year old daughter will start school.

As for your portfolio I can see you are very productive, so productive that it'll take me quite some time to go trough it. An amazingly large collection of very good quality shots which I'll come back to later when I have more time. For now I'll just point out the portfolio on Tiziana, your series on hands, the Rome collection and actually, your shots from Norway.

Until later, stay well and keep up the good work! And maybe we'll meet in Naples in a couple of years time? Who knows?

Devo ammettere, sono rimasto impressionato. Immagini stupendi. Un grande collezione in quasi tutte gli campi di photografia. E tutti eseguiti molto bene. Colori, composizione, soggetti interessanti.. Mi piace in particole le ritratti e gli photo della gente. Forse perche questo sono soggetti e motivi che anche io cerco di photografare. Ma anche le immagine della natura e di viaggio, sono molto belle e affascinante. Ed in particole dalla Norvegia - dove vivo io. Quando sei stato qui?

Ho anche letto la tua biografia. Come tu, anche io mi sono laureato in Medicina, a Genova in 1982. Questo spiega l'uso della lingua italiana - nonostante le numerosi errori. Il tuo viaggio dentro le varie parte della scienza e l'arte e letture molto interessante. Mi sembra di avere avuto molto delle stesse esperienze. E come te, sono un motociclista. Avevo in Italia un Moto Guzzi Falcone. Ora e un Royal Enfield Clipper, 1955.

Comunque, mi ha fatto immenso piacere sia leggere la tua biografia che attraversare il tuo mondo photografico.

Grazie per il bel commento sulla mia foto della cattedrale di Assisi. Sono andato a suonare il concerto di Natale che facciamo ogni anno con la RAI e che trasmettono il 25 a mezzogiorno e devo dirti che sono stati tre giorni magici. La neve e' caduta e tutta la citta' era avvolta nel silenzio e immersa nei riflessi del ghiaccio formatosi ovunque. Mi hai beccato, sono decisamente un amante dell'immagine sin da bambino e sto iniziando un processo di conoscenza di me stesso molto profondo grazie alla fotografia. Il nostro stile e' molto diverso e la scelta dei soggetti anche ma cio' che ci accomuna e' la passione pura che porta all'approfondimento. Leggendo la tua biografia ho visto che sei un uomo di grande cultura e ricco di interessi e questo e' raro da trovare oggigiorno. Visto il tuo approfondimento sulle relazioni tra immagine ed animo umano, vorrei chiederti di esaminare la mia cartella "In progress..." e vedere se riesci a tirar fuori un collegamento con le altre foto e capire quale e' secondo te il motivo umano dietro di esse. Te lo chiedo perche' mi sono ritrovato attratto da quel tipo di soggetti ma non conosco il motivo di questa scelta; e' uno stile che mi lascia pieno di domande... Saluti e a presto

Rispondendo alla tua domanda riguardo al tempio: sì l'ho lasciato di proposito perchè senza avrei tolto un dettaglio molto importante che mi aveva colpito al momento dello scatto.Personalmente lo trovo lievemente ironico,ma poi ognuno può vedere ciò che preferisce..

volevo semplicemente rigraziarla per le emozioni che mi ha dato con queste foto stupende, ne guardavo una e dicevo "è la mia preferita" poi passavo a quella successiva e "no, no, è questa la mia preferita!". Lei ha un dono, dico davvero. Ora capisco perché vuole dedicarsi interamente a questa passione! E così ora mi sento fortunato ad averla incontrata in un supermercato a Cogolo qualche giorno fa, ci accomunano le origini napoletane..ricorda? Buon lavoro, anche se capisco poco di fotografia le faccio i miei complimenti per le belle sensazioni che riesce a comunicare.

Se desideri che io faccia parte dei tuoi migliori amici di PN, beh mi fa molto piacere....ho letto la presentazione sulla tua pagina, ci sono molte cose interessanti fra quelle che hai studiato, sperimentato, avremo modo di parlarne con calma. Mi interessa anche molto il significato psicologico della fotografia.....mi sto confrontando proprio in questo senso con le mie immagini.... a presto e grazie di tutto paola

Ciao, Ciaomau! grazie per la tua visita e il tuo commento alla mia ultima, i riflessi sono una mia patologia, mi rendo perfettamente conto, ora però vorrei iniziare a fare anche altre cose, non ho ancora le idee molto chiare ma ci arriverò... ho dovuto fare un lavoro certosino di scansione, in quanto sono figlia dell'analogico, solo da un annetto sono passata al digitale ma la mia prima reflex la possiedo da una decina di giorni soltanto. Non ho quindi un archivio digitale così significativo, per cui ho approfittato di questi mesi di "transizione" per catalogare le pellicole. Fra poco farò la stessa operazione con le diapositive...un lavoraccio...ma qualcosa di interessante dai cassetti è saltato fuori eh...a presto presto. Ciao, Paola
