your mermaids don,t appear very relaxed out of water,an so not very suductive. i would think a sharper focus and lower light with a more relaxed pose might work better. i do like the consept, and i think it can work well. you might try a lower angle at sunset. just my opion,i have no experance with mermaids.

Ivan Dzo , December 10, 2006; 08:31 A.M.

Great mermaids. Realistically done and those without eye contact work really well for me.

Sylvie Bélanger , December 15, 2006; 01:35 A.M.

You have a very nice portfolio .. very sensual too ... I love many of your photos but more specifically the one with the couple.. we can feel their desire for each other .. continue your nice work. Sylvie

Hi Shane

Whenever someone comments (bad or good) on my photos, I try to go to their portfolio to get a sense of what their aesthetic is and their level of artistic merit (of course, that's always IMHO). So I've been crusing through your portfolio and enjoying myself. I will comment on several individual efforts as time permits, but I have a couple of quick and general impressions. First, I enjoy the less glamorous work more than the glamor. Having seen my work, I'm sure you will understand that. The more candid and private is more interesting to me. But, if you make your living selling your work, then you must emphasize what looks good. I'm living proof that ugly doesn't lead to renown or riches. I think your couples is really good work because most of them have an air of reality and not posture to them. I also feel that your black and white work speaks with more emotion. Have a great year, and I'll be back for more looks.

Hi Shane,

Thank you so much for commenting on my portfolio, means a lot. :) I decided to head over to yours and take a look and I just have to echo what everyone above me has said. Truly talented work. I love the idea of the mermaids shoots, very original and almost whimsical. I also really like your first b&w set, is there anything special you do in photoshop to achieve that quality? And hats off to you in your couples series, my favorite is 'Perfect Fit'... beautiful, beautiful capture. Thanks again, and I will definitely be visiting your page as you update it! :)

Shane, I have really enjoyed looking through your work, and have left comments on several individual images. great to see the work of someone who has such a passion for the creativity of the medium - great stuff!

Paul Chamberlain , January 23, 2007; 05:25 P.M.

Interesting!

Cruising through the site there are loads of people experimenting with Photoshop and playing with hue and saturation altering the sky etc etc.

Its good to come across someone experimenting with some of the other things PS can do.

I love it, being a newbie and learner looking at all this energy and excitment is just wonderful.

Thank you for the comment on my pic. Your portraits are very provocative and sexy but never vulgar. Your photography in general has a great elegance to it that really strikes the cords (however you say it...). Excellent work Shane, for what it's worth coming from a non-professional like me...

Meir Samel , April 14, 2008; 04:20 A.M.

my photo

Shane, Yesterday I posted 'Woman Looking At Jewelry Salesman ' in the first folder. You are good with digital. Please Read my own critique on the foto and offer a suggestion if you have one.

Meir Samel , April 14, 2008; 04:24 A.M.

Shane, not too long ago you commented on my photos and made a wrong comparison. I have not seen much of this kind of art but still I know that you are quite gifted in this area and especially with ideas (gifted is the only term I can think of when it comes to originality).Much if not most of your work I rate as 7/7, 7/7; it is pretty amazing.

Hi Shane

Shane, thank you so much for looking at my gallery and commenting. I really appreciate it, it means a lot to me. I'm very honoured, and glad to know that you'll keep visiting my gallery from times to times. I'll do the same with yours. Your portfolio is amazing.

I love your photos! I wish I had your skill with photoshop. (Between you and me, often I like photoshopping my pictures even more than shooting them.) Maybe with practice I can learn to make cool special effects like you make for your photos. I like your angel photos the best. They're beautiful. I also love your nude photos. Some of your shots remind me of David Lachapelle, or Helmut Newton....on a psychedelic drug trip! You have a very creative, surrealistic and unique style, which I love. Regards, Evelyne

Just passing through

John Peri , June 26, 2008; 02:21 P.M.

What a wonderfully inspired portfolio, filled with the passion of a visionary's eye, sometimes recording reality, other replacing it with a joyful and humorous reshaping of the world that at times can look fighteningly real.

One feels that the artist may want not to be taken too seriously, but then his perception of people is such that his images cannot be discarded so lightly. He juggles with colours and shapes, and mixes them with human expression and emotions .. it is more then a portfolio, it is a passage through time and the realisation that what we perceive as being true may sometimes have different interpetations, depending on how we look at our surroundings.
