Hi Jacqueline
Thanks for your comment in my serie of Paris. yes I did try to get the day by day feling during the long walks we did through the streets and quartiers in paris and tried not to make postcards but to show the multicultural city that it is with the known problems. Yes I still have more photos and will post them.

Thank you for your kind words. You have a wonderful portfolio, I look forward to seeing more. I think some people are in such a hurry to rate and move to next pic., they don't stop and take in the scene what ever it is. Technical perfection does not always produce the most poinant photograph, at least not for me. This format has it's pluses and minus sides. I am certainly learning alot, and wish I could do better as I continue. I really only meant to take some shots to use for drawing and watercolor. I guess I caught the bug. I don't remember my grandfather without a camera in his hand, or a fishing pole. Thanks again.db

Hello Friend!
Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.
I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.
Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Jacqueline: I was just looking at work work again, and have admired it for some time..There is an ethereal quality, a fantastic color story, and imaginative compositions, that make your work very special. Your images of children are incredibly unique. You're at the top of my list of present day artists I admire. I've only been shooting for a couple of months, trying to develope a style, and figure things out. I hope to photograph people soon-it's a little scary, frankly...Still lifes don't complain, have to go to the bathroom, or refuse to cooperate. And if they do, you can stick them back in the cupboard. But, your work inspires me to do great things, and make my own footprint, as you have. lauren partida

If...
I don't like photographs of kids, because I don't like kids (I was actually 33 years-old when I was born, before anybody tries to pull me up on that one).
If, however, I did like photographs of kids, yours would certainly be the kinds of photographs that I would like.
You clearly have a great affinity with them and that connection comes through in your work. Great stuff.

If I were to have a portrait done, you would be the one of all the Pnet photographers that I would choose to do it. There is a depth to your images of people that is most difficult to attain, and you seem to be able to do it with consistency. Tremendous talent there.

Beauty Survives
Viewing these images brings to mind something I read: the reason God/Nature made children so cute is because they are totally dependent on adults and their beauty endears them to us, which helps insure their survival. Your images give credence to this theory.

Saddness
Jacqueline,
You are no doubt a great photographer but as I was looking through your portfolio I noticed two themes...saddness and darkness. Out of 142 photographs only 3 have a smile. I guess everyone has gifts and yours is to capture and/or create saddness and darkness. I would love to see you channel such talent to happy themes as well. Don't you want to look back and have beautiful photos capturing happy memories of your children. Some of the photos seem like the child is just living a sad life. I know photographers often project out what comes from within themselves. Photos are often a looking glass into the one taking the picture. I just don't feel good after looking at sooo many sad or dark themed photos. A break in between with some happy type photos would be nice. I have noticed other photographers doing the same thing and I was honest with them as well. On a positve note...it's unreal that you have only been doing this a year. You truly are an artist. They say to give honest opinions so I hope I haven't crossed the line with my honesty.
Jacqueline Roberts

Debra, thank you for your honest comment and I appreciate your concern. Do not fear I have many happy memories that I keep in my heart (and in my family album)... besides
I'm not too keen on children smiling for the camera, that doesn't make them happy.
On the other hand I was hoping that my photographs reflected emotions other than sadness and darkness, at least that is my intention, to dig a bit deeper and explore the whole range of feelings and attitudes a child goes through, such as confidence, insecurity, curiosity, boredom, rebelliousness, day-dreaming, mischief, frustration, vivacity, imagination, etc. That's what I will keep trying to reflect.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio, for reacting and taking the time to tell me about it. It's important to me.

Hi Jacqueline
I have no words for this portfolio
very very good
Debra Kimzey , June 04, 2008; 01:06 P.M.
I'm sorry.
Hi Jacqueline, I read your comments and wanted to look again with keeping in mind what you said. And you no what, you are right! There is a lot of emotions there like innocense, sweetness, etc. as well as just pure beauty in the eyes and faces of many of the children's photos. I think my initial reaction came from the "falling" photo (looks like the child is bleeding), the evil doll photo and I think some of the darker backgrounds aren't my taste (giving me the "darkness" feeling). With that said, "Who am I to judge?!" You have created art work that MANY people absolutely love! I think Photo.net can be confusing...do we just critique the actual photo...sharpness, lighting etc. or do we put are thoughts in about "what" the subject is as well. Anyway, I hope I didn't hurt your feelings...you are a gifted photographer and you do great work! And upon a second look I realized I was wrong. I hope you can forgive me?

I mispelled "no" in my comment above...I meant to write the word "know".

Hi
Wondeful work. The light in every pciture is different and very original. The colors you obtrain in post process look amazing, very retro... something in the 60s and 70s. Also, you added some blurred mask and they uplift the quality of your picutres to wonderful. Keep it up, I will be hunting your pictures all day....

what a gift you have
Jacqueline,
Tremendous portraits you shoot. Not only the kids!
And the imagination you have to process everyone of them in a different direction, completely in harmony with the expressed feeling.
I'm sorry not to be a photographer with great reputation, or a real friend from you; this would alow me to discus all the artworks with you. don't take this as a rude free expression of me, it's ment very seriously and respectfully.
But I"m just an unknown man, a beginner in this forum.
anyway, your work is a well of inspiration for many people I'm sure.
Continue amazing usI've learned a lot from this visit, and wil be back many time in search of developping my vision and skills.
