Thanks so much for the advice on PS. I have just started doing more portraits, mostly for family and friends. Unfortunatley there is a terrible background everywhere you look. Some are easier to work with than others. Your help has made my work much easier. I took quite a bit of time looking at your work and find it fascinating. I particularly like the "midwest" group. I really liked the sepia tones. And as I suspected from your comment on my portrait, you are way ahead of me on the use of PS.

Thanks again, and I will be returning to see more of your impressive work in the future.

I like your "Winter" series the best. There is the capturing of an essance in the photographs. I have never been a Galen Rowell (sp.) fan because his were only about golden hour light on mountains and he missed the mountain for it. Your winter pictures are a portrait of the Snow Queens eyes.

You have a portfoli of very creative and poetic images very well realized. Brava Rachel!

It was very nice of you to leave me your comments. I will mask the border and add effect only to the inside and see how it will look. For a beginner you have incredible portfolio. I love your shots. you sure are on the right path and I hope you stick with photography.

Your bio states that you're a beginner to photography. I will say this as simply as I can. Many photographers who have years of experience behind the camera will never attain the level of skill and creativity that you've already shown in this fine portfolio. I don't know if photography is your profession... or a profession that your aspire to...or none of the above. But I firmly believe that the only limitations you will face in regard to this craft would be the ones that you place on yourself...and/or those that the unforseen and uncontrollable circumstances of life that sometimes inflict themselves upon us. So, I would (perhaps selfishly)hope that you do pursue photography as a profession. Just remember... if you become famous someday... will you sell me a print at a discount? ;) best regards, john

Rachel, I don't know if you'd remember me...but I recall your name and your great photographs from years past. I've been away from Pnet for over a year...but I'm back to stay, and wanted to say hello!

I just commented on a shot of yours in the critique forum which then lead me to your portfolio, and All I can say is WOW! You have some very unique and beautiful work. Your San Diego folder with sky and water shots is wonderful. I think it would be fun to put four of them together in one mat and frame them.
