Soft Sunset

I would appreciate any comments on this my first submitted photo. It was taken from the waterfront park of Candiac in Quebec Canada and I was struck by the soft tones created by a haze. Light metering was done on the clouds excluding the sun.

Hi Tony

Hi Tony, thank you for your nice comment about my picture...this one was executed in 1983 in oil medium in my fifth solo exhibition...and my style at that time was built on idea of mixing realty or adopt the subject of realty whatever it is and accompany it with other shapes and elements of vivid color abstract to emphasis on the pastel realty colored elements and this method went further in my following exhibitions for about fifteen years of varied artworks and conception...and you my friend can follow my artwork if you wish at my website http://www.ayyadart.com Which each exhibition attached with the art critic that published during the show...best regards...Ayyad

Hi Tony

Hi my friend Tony, you asked me what is the significance of the horizontal lines in the upper portion of the painting? Okay my friend, if you look at my composition you will find that there are repeated horizontal bands of color that started from the bottom of the painting and move up to the top...and if you remove the horizontal line, the entire composition of the painting will fill apart...and also it gives depth to the pictures even it was built in abstract and realty combination...the color bands play essential role in my painting which it strength the meaning and the construction of the pictures at the same time...thank you my friend for your question...and have a nice weekend...Ayyad

Hi Tony

I am honoured that such a talented photographer should stop by my images to comment! Thank you so much - truly an honour. I am enjoying your portfolio very much. You show a great expertise and obviously in-bred talent for composition and light - these are some really gorgeous images - a remarkable eye! Again thank you for taking so much of your valuable time to help out a beginner - I have had my camera since November only and am enjoying it very much. Before my new SLR, I had only a point and shoot (the shooting did all the work for me!) Now I must learn all the nuts and bolts of photography and it is comments like yours that keep us newbies plugging away! Best Regards,Jan

Ross Yourth , March 19, 2007; 08:38 P.M.

Hi Tony

Have been flicking back & forth with your two images of "Winter Fog V" & must admit there are aspects that I like about both. But after viewing your portfolio again & your wonderful & unique eye for composition I came to the conclusion that you must of had a reason for including the upper branches. In a manner they do seem to protect & frame the smaller trees. Really like your basically black& white winter images, believe you have captured the essence of southern Ontario winters. Regards-Ross

Good to know you shot your pic in July _ I think I know the spot in Alaska where you took your fireweed photo. Many thanks for the positive comments on my portfolio. I use Photoshop software which is a bit pricey. A less pricey one is Photo Elements.

Adan Wong , April 11, 2007; 11:36 P.M.

Thanks

Tony, you are one of the best when it comes to nature photography. Your portfolio is full of amazing captures with intense colors and moods. The abstracts are quite creative as well. I appreciate your comments and I am flattered to take tips from such an expert.

Joe Konz , April 12, 2007; 08:31 A.M.

Tony, I enjoyed my tour of your work this morning. I wanted to deliberate far longer than I had time to spend, as I would at a formal gallery -- there is that much to appreciate. And I wanted to applaud many more individual pieces than I did. You have a fine eye in many subject areas, but I most appreciated your landscapes, sky/clouds, floras, seasonals (winter/autumn) and abstracts. And those abstracts ... so bold and such fine linear studies! Finally, thank you for giving me a peek at Alaska, a place I hope to visit in my lifetime.

Tony Hadley , April 12, 2007; 09:21 A.M.

Adan

You have some terrific shots covering places in Europe and the US that I would like to see in the future. Keep up the good work.

John

Thanks for dropping by my portfolio and for your vote of approval. It is humbly appreciated.

JeffS L , April 13, 2007; 11:05 P.M.

Fantastic

Tony, Exceptional work, all. You have a true gift for capturing color. But beyond taking merely pretty shots, your photos seem carefully studied and composed. There is something classical in the composition that is a real draw. All are knock-outs in their own way, but I'm really drawn to your more unadorned nature shots. The abstracts/creative pics are interesting as well. Really, really nice work.

Tony Hadley , April 15, 2007; 11:40 A.M.

Jeff

Thanks for the positive comments. My first love is the beauty in all natural elements but I intend to explore other areas while being inspired by other photographers and artists on PN. My latest abstracts were inspired by the work seen on PN.

Tony. Tony, Tony

At first I thought:" with all the hundreds of comments listed here and full of praise, Tony does not need my two cents worth." But then...Why not?? I have looked at your portfolio for at least an hour if not longer. It is truly difficult to pick a preference. This is simply put: "Great Stuff"

Tony Hadley , April 24, 2007; 02:32 A.M.

Bert

I am deeply moved that you would spend that amount of time on my portfolio. I do need your "two cents" because we throw our stuff out to a public forum for all to view, comment and rate and some of us are vulnerable. Because there is a wide spectrum of people, I find it difficult to judge what people like. I simply have to go with what 'moves me'. There is stuff that I put out that I really like but is met with luke warm reception. That is the nature of the 'art' world I suppose. I honestly feel that I have much to learn and to explore in the world of photography. Tonight I have deleted many images in an attempt to streamline my portfolio. Good luck in your photography and I will be stopping by your portfolio in the near future.

Dennis Aubrey , April 24, 2007; 10:58 A.M.

Great stuff, Tony ...

... particularly like the fractals and landscapes. Will be posting on individual pictures later. Do you know the fractal work of Pascal Agneray? He does some wonderful work as well, here is his URL: http://www.photo.net/shared/community-member?user_id=2137404.

Tony, just came off Pascal's site and saw that you know all about it already. Of course.

Tony Hadley , April 24, 2007; 06:20 P.M.

Thanks for contacting me and look forward to your comments on individual photos. Pascal was instrumental in me getting off the ground by inspiring me with his works and listing the software used.

Hello Tony,

Thank you for commenting on my photos, your portfolio is outstanding. Your eye for color and composition is superb. I mostly go for B&W shots, but your photos encourage me to try more color, which you?ve shown to capture phenomenally well. Thanks for the comments and inspiration.

Sincerely, Danny

Tony Hadley , April 28, 2007; 08:40 P.M.

Juan

Really appreciate your endorsement along with all of the others. I never really expected these comments and I am humbled by them. I am not sure how long you have been with PN but there are many ways to find the really good photographers here and I encourage you to find them (look at the top photos and who took them, etc) and be inspired and educated by them (something I do frequently). As I have mentioned previously, I visit other portfolios so that I can learn from them. If I can pass on what I know, I am just giving back.

Joseph Tury , April 30, 2007; 12:02 A.M.

Amazing Artist

Too much to take in with one visit. I must return many times for inspiration. A portfolio full of colours and artistic creativity. Great work.

Joe Baker , April 30, 2007; 06:02 P.M.

Tony you do wonders with color. a true artist. sincerly Joe B.

Rebecca Baker , April 30, 2007; 08:37 P.M.

Tony: While searching for a website which was more supportive of digital art and fractals, I came across this one: http://moca.virtual.museum It costs $19.00/year to join and the curator, Don Archer, will go to your website and choose the fractals which he thinks are appropriate for MOCA (Museum of Computer Art). He chose some of my abstracts and they are posted in the Guest Gallery. Don Archer has a link to his personal website which includes very interesting art and fractals. I think that all of your fractals are beautiful. I understand the addictive component of fractals; it is as if one loses tract of all time and space. I have some new photos under "Nature's Beauty" taken while on a hike with my family. They went fishing and I took photos. I too am trying to keep the balance between fantasy and reality. Rebekah

Naveed Malik , May 03, 2007; 02:40 P.M.

great stuff tony

i must say i am impressed, real good work and i mean it too. You got a perfect mix of photoshop-expertise and photography skills. The choice of the subjects is simple yet unique, Alaska folder is amazing, abstract i need time to digest it. But overall you are definately high on my list of favourite porfilo's on photo.net

Tony Hadley , May 03, 2007; 08:57 P.M.

Sally

Many thanks for your comments. Along with other comments, it gives me a sense that I am going in the right direction in my journey of learning and exploration.

Tony Hadley , May 03, 2007; 09:02 P.M.

Naveed

Your comments are appreciated - my sunsets and Alaska folders are among my favorites. I can understand that the abstracts need more time to digest - and I hope you don't get indigestion when you study them. I would be happy to hear from you on individual photos or creations. It is only this year that I got started in the creations in the Abstract Mathematical folder and I have put that part temporarily on hold.

Have a great day,

Nicole York , May 05, 2007; 01:29 P.M.

Tony

I wanted to stop by and say thank you for taking the time to comment on some of my photos, they are appreciated especially coming from such a talented photographer to a beginner. Having said that, I think you have a little bit of a painter in your soul. You're use of color is especially painterly and many of your subjects as well. It makes for very interesting viewing and never gets old. I enjoyed your skies most of all and envy that you got to see such majesty in person :)

Thanks again for stopping by and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!

All the best!

Sad

Tony, I feel sad that you're leaving P.N. I hope all is well with you and that you'll come back to grace this site and community with your beaufiful, artful images and thoughtful comments. I will miss you. Denise

Tony Hadley , May 25, 2007; 12:54 A.M.

Denise

Thanks for the well wishes. It is truly a sabbatical with an intent to return. I was on a torrid pace of taking photos daily and looking through my files of photos taken in the past - had about 270 photos on the site, living and breathing PN. It was becoming an addiction and that was not good. I have cut my portfolio in half and left what i thought was representative of my image making and plan to continue image making on my time off. I am sure that ocassionally I will be back to look at the top photos and then check out a portfolio or two. Take care of yourself.

Thanks for commenting on my portfolio. It is appreciated.

Gino Alberico , June 19, 2007; 11:43 A.M.

Congratulations

Your portfolio is wonderful and when I read that you intend to reduce it with less pictures I was bit disappointed. Anyway if this your feeling you have all the rights to proceed this way (but please keep the Alaska e Water Reflections folders - they are so nice !). Regards. Gino

Tony Hadley , June 19, 2007; 11:21 P.M.

Thanks Gino

I have already made the reduction and I am now in the process of rebuilding the portfolio. I am on a bit of a sabbatical and hope to be more active on PN later in August. At the moment I upload a few images, do a couple of critiques and check out the top photos once in a while.

Hi Tony, First off got the chance to revisit your folio again. First time was on the " harbor house " Shot. Tony, your color is just really amazing! My wife was falling in love with the liquid filter section and me, I love the sunsets. But hey, stopped into to tell you thanks for the 2 comments on "Black and white" and the color version. oh and I like the b/w shot better too. its seems much more dramatic..Thanks again and keep on shooting because I will keep on looking..RAY

Tony,

Thanks so much for the critique on my "Spontaneous Laughter" photo. That's EXACTLY the kind of info I'd hoped to hear from more experienced members. :-)

Indeed, there was an incandescent light source above me at the time I took the shot. I tried to correct for it after the fact in Adobe LightRoom, but I obviously did not correct it enough.

Peace,

Your skills as a photograher have grown with leaps and bounds since the last time I commented on your portfolio. Hey Tony. Thank you for taking your time to comment on my picture "morning on Isle of Skye" I took your invitation to visit your portefolie and im very glad i did. Its so full of life and colour and it has inspired me to go look for more colours.

Best regards Charlotte

Esther Valentino , July 28, 2007; 08:21 A.M.

I am very impressed by your portfolio and very honored you decided to comment on mine. All of your images have a deep and sharp perception, emanate from the inside and find a moment on being in the outside almost as if cocreating reality. I see few images int he world that are more than a record of events and vanities, easily replaceable but yours do have that soul of what you see, feel and think that gives to the wrold something that it needed and was missing.I am delighted to see your vision of the world, thank you for sharing it and I look forwards to see more of it. Very inspiring more than by just techinical merit. Your abstracts are as full of life as your nature shots or portraits and that shows how much you give of yourself on your art.

Julie Cain , July 29, 2007; 12:43 A.M.

Very colorful portfolio. I was amazed at all the different techniques you use. I can certainly learn a thing or two from you. Take care, love the images!

Tony,

Thanks for your comments. You have some excellent fotos here, and I expect we will probably see more. Regarding your symmetry comment. For me, perfect symmetry is boring, I like to see it broken somewhere in the image (much like the weak force and the electromagnetic force).

Thank you for your comment. You have some great images in your portfolio, I think I like the sunsets the best. :)

Fantastic.

A fantastic portfoloio Tony, the richness of the colours is amazing, yet not in an over saturated way. I have to say i love the landscapes first and foremost, but the macro flower shots also standout. All in all a very well shot series of images. Well done and all the best, Dave.

J.K. York , August 13, 2007; 04:14 P.M.

if i had to sum up your work in as few words as possible, they would be: vibrant, color richness, balanced, and beautiful. i'm not a big effect filter person, but some of your liquid alterations are very cool. amazing work my friend. regards, J.K.

Hi Tony. Thank you for your kind compliment on my gallery; I try to post one photo a day. I was at the carifete in Montreal this year too. We have shots of the same dancer in green. Your shots of the dancers are great--well many of your shots are great--the sunsets are beautiful.

Full of Life

Tony, thanks for your review of my latest work. I'm so enraptured at looking through the lens that I'm not taking enough time to advance my technical skills. I love the seeing of photography. I agree with the background being as important as the main subject. Lots to think about and say. I would love to meet you and some of the members of this site over coffee to discuss issues of art. Tony, your work is so rich and full of life. You truly have a gift of seeing and sharing your vision. I'm moving to Ottawa for a year in September, if you're ever there please let me know. Cheers. Thanks for the comment on Maroon Bells. The red filter would definitely given me a more dramatic sky but I was also interested in making the yellow aspens trees stand out; hence the yellow filter. Your portfolio is magnificent; we have a lot of common subject matter. I especially like the flower pictures that you used the liquefy filter on. Absolutely beautiful photographs.

Neville Hammond , October 17, 2007; 08:15 P.M.

Thank you for your kind comments on my recent photograph, "Sunset Glow". They are most encouraging and appreciated. Your comments have led me to your portfolio which, to say the least, is most impressive and I enjoyed it very much. Your talent, enthusiam and enjoyment for your photography and your art really shines through. I am a newcomer to digital photography and while I have always enjoyed taking nice photos it has only developed into a more serious hobby since I have retired. I enjoy this site and am learning heaps from people like yourself who take the time to provide comments and encouragement. Kind regards, Neville H.

THANKS

Tony, quick thanks for your constructive comments on the stream photo. it was actually a quick point and shoot. And you are right 1/10 sec. and a tripod would have really made it. deeper depth of field and a really cool stream. Will try again at a future date THANKS!...RAY

Maine 2007

Hi Tony, I was viewing your portfolio checking out your Maine 2007 shots. I was in Acadia Oct 9 - 15 myself. I have not had time to work on my images and post them yet. You got some really good shots yourself. From the looks of the foliage you may have been there shortly afterwards as the foliage was not at peak yet when I was there and yours are showing more color.

Great work!

Tony Hadley , November 08, 2007; 10:25 P.M.

Frank

I was there on the week-end of Oct 13th - perhaps you see a bit more color on mine is because i traveled from Quebec, Canada, dipped into Vermont, traversed the kancamagus highway through the White mountains of New Hampshire and then south to Acadia national park. I started with conditions where leaves were past their peak and then travelled into areas where they were at peak and then not as much when we were in Acadia. I have some NH images in the folder which I have recently renamed to Maine-New Hampshire" - I look forward to your images - maybe our paths crossed and we don't even know it.

ML M , November 11, 2007; 12:49 A.M.

Tony...

Thanks for your comment on my "Smoky Mountain Sunrise". As it turns out, it is my favorite of all the images from our annual Fall trip to the Smokies; and is, in fact, my desktop at work. I am many times either amazed, incredulous, bemused or surprised by which posted image will generate comments, and which doesn't. Your comment was welcome relief that at least one other person thought it special.

That said, I will admit to a little practice that I have. When I go to a member portfolio for the first time, I scan all the images rather quickly and try to honestly determine which image makes my scrolling finger pause. It's not always the most beautiful, or the most technical image, but is usually (even after detailed inspection) the most pleasant to me. Your image "Juneau - low lying clouds" caught and held my attention, even after reviewing all your other images in detail. I guess it's one of those - wish I could be there right now pictures :-)

Well, not usually this verbose; must be the hangover from my favorite college team getting the snot beat out of them today :-(... makes you back up and think about what is really important (and it ain't football).

You have a very diverse and excellent portfolio... keep clickin'.

Eduard Fron , November 17, 2007; 05:21 A.M.

Hi Tony

What a portfolio! I feel so proud you stopped for a while at my pics. You are certainly gifted in extracting and mixing the most beautiful colours. Some say "the sky is the limit" but in your eyes the sky is just a starting point. Best regards, Eduard

Hello Friend!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.

Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Thanks Tony

Just got back from San Francisco and Redwoods and saw your comment on my snow photo. Really appreciated it! As I said in my bio page the really great thing about PN is the constructive critiques. Having never shot snow before I agree with you, it is a tough subject. I'm going to keep that shot and see what I can improve on. Hey, your folio is looking great. Always interesting to check out. Thanks again and appreciate your help...RAY

Stunning

Hi Tony, you've been busy since I last visited your site and your work is truly exceptional. All your images are amazing. Thank you for taking time to critique a few of my images. Encouragement is wonderful but one of the reasons I joined PN was to learn from looking and critiques. I am always most appreciative when someone takes the time to give honest, helpful advice. Cheers. Denise

many thanks for commenting on my 'Spiky Tractor' - little did I know that you're a fan of the Liquify tool - its an awesome technique, and you have used it really well.

Best regards for 2008, and thanks again!

Hi Tony, I had to scroll through your site to leave you a response to your message. I never cease to be amazed by your work. Your images are truly joyous. I appreciate your taking time to really look at my photo and provide a different way to see the scene. I never considered removing the cars but realize that it focuses the image more on the smallness of man and the majesty of the landscape. Thank you.

Hi Tony, has it really

been 5 months since I visited your portfolio?....I am sure I meant to come back sooner....what a delight. I could get "lost" in your images.....and would need hours to do them justice (view each one carefully). Where abouts are you in Canada, I'm in Victoria (also lived in Quebec and Ontario)and have never seen skies like yours before. Do tell....it's worth a voyage to where ever you are just to see such beauty. Please keep "at it".....I want to see many, many more....Helga

Comments

I don't check my portfolio comments very often and PN does not notify you when there are new ones. My apologies for not replying to each one individually but all the comments are really appreciated. I feel as though I am growing as a photographer over the last year and this is both from inspiration and knowledge gained from PN. There also frustrations that also drive me to be better - Ying and yang I suppose. Best regards to everyone as we strive to be better photographers and artists.

Harry Joseph , January 19, 2008; 08:49 A.M.

Hi Tony, I have marked your portofolio to learn from you. You are most creative and your photos show great thought. I commented on a few of yours before I read that you had looked at my Alaska ones. Thanks for viewing.

Tony Hadley , February 03, 2008; 09:36 P.M.

Diana

Thanks for your kind comments. Just keep in mind that there are photographers who have much better images than me so keep on looking. There are many ways to find them but one that I use is to view PN's "Top Photos". When you find an image you like, click on their portfolio to see if it was a fluke or it is a portfolio to keep on watching. You will find very few of my photos in that category and that just gives me motivation to keep on growing.

Diana Webb , February 05, 2008; 02:48 P.M.

That is a great suggestion to expand on viewing the best! I will do it. You are too modest. Your photos I think are tops!

Hy Tony, Thaks for your kind comments. Your portfolio is great. The fall and sunsets gallery are realy fantastique ! My fall shots are made in Quebec, near Montreal.

Dave Barstow , February 08, 2008; 01:49 A.M.

Superb Portfolio!

It was with great pleasure, a touch of awe and a large dose of inspiration that I browsed through your portfolio. There are not many photographers that exhibit the wide range of subject matter, creative eye for design and technical mastery that that you clearly possess.

Thank you for participating so fully in photo.net. Work like yours, involvement in the community and helpful commentary made this site 'home' to many of us.

Thank You,

Dave Barstow

Romeo Calin , February 12, 2008; 12:47 P.M.

i believe that....

... you will need another page for more comments to come Tony! you are the 'master of polarized filter' it seems. it makes me want to have one and let me understand that landscape needs that type of filter and not only. everything you shoot looks 'beautiful' with some small exceptions where to me there is to much color. Canada is a beautiful country to run around and get lost in photography and you are showing it to the world to see. and i think there is a lot more to your 'eye' if you let it 'diversify'. cheers!

Barry F - Oklahoma , February 14, 2008; 10:52 A.M.

Hi, Tony,

I came here after you left a comment on one of my photos. You have some terrific stuff here. I like the landscapes and sunsets. You also obviously are good with software for presenting the images. That's definitely one of my shortfalls.

Anyway, nice to make your aquaintance, and love your stuff. I notice you have a Maine and NH folder. I grew up in Maine and still have a place there - we go up every summer. Best Regards,

Barry

Hallo there Tony, Firstly....I came to your site to say thank you very much for your lovely comment on my portfolio...Thank you kindly.. Secondly... Oh my goodness, I do not know which folder to start mentioning first as the most inspiring one....made me feel very small...as small as a todler that has just started crawling for the first time...Your sunsets are just what I hope to capture one day...the clouds...wow!Well, Tony, I can only say one word "Fantastic"& may God keep on blessing you with your sight of beauty. Warmest Regards Johanna from SouthAfrica

John Wright , February 29, 2008; 02:00 P.M.

You have quite a diverse portfolio... I don't often see so much diversity of subjects in one place. You have very keen eye. I enjoy viewing your images, and plan to return often.

Derek Thornton , March 13, 2008; 12:39 P.M.

Hey Tony,

Very nice work!

Tony Hadley , March 14, 2008; 08:47 A.M.

Many Thanks

I don't usually get to the portfolio comments as often as i should but I really do appreciate all of the comments. They help to reassure me that I may be on the right track in my continued effort to be a better photographer. Have a blessed day.

Mauno Vanttaja , March 15, 2008; 04:47 A.M.

Your honourable gentleman,

Dear Tony, Many thanks for Your comments on my Sunset. Your entry just prompted me to check your work and WOW....your sunsets are fantastic, just for example. Your entire portfolio is great stuff, quality work indeed. I really wish that you will get some returns for your efforts and numerous hours invested in your "lab". But I must say your time has not been wasted. In so many of your images I sense that your way of seeing things with open mind is very much similar to mine. It is just that as a newcomer I am a bit cautious to open up and throw all of my goods on the table. After seeing yours gives me some encouragement. I quess, it is a natural part of the whole process. Your portfolio will be on my list of regular visits.

Tony Hadley , March 17, 2008; 02:03 A.M.

mauno

Thanks for the encouragement! Caution: some of my images are about life which is not always pleasant.

Denise L , March 20, 2008; 12:55 P.M.

Smiling

Tony, your nice comment about my progressing in my photographic journey put a big smile on my face. We all need that kind of encouragement. My image Blue Sky IS one of my paintings- I'd meant to take it off my site. Your work is joyful and masterful. All your images show your artistry and careful intent. Cheers. Denise

Hi Tony, Well, I stopped in again to view more of your portfolio. I found more beautiful photos you have taken in the past month. I am not disapointment. They are lovely. The beach scenes are outstanding. I will visit again soon. Great portfolio!

Denise & Diane

Thanks for your nice comments. Happy Easter!

Dave Barstow , March 27, 2008; 09:20 P.M.

Beautiful work Tony!

This is the finest portfolio of abstract images that I have seen here on p.net.

You have employed a wonderful range of style, technique and source subjects to produce some truly masterful works.

Thanks again for inspiring...

John Plott , March 28, 2008; 01:12 P.M.

Hello

Hi Tony, When I visit photonet I always visit your port, Im always amazed at the beauty you have the ability to produce and create...As I said before I wish I had a 2/4 of your talent, if so I would be a great photographer.

Tony Hadley , March 29, 2008; 03:09 P.M.

Thanks

Dave: thanks for your very positive endorsement - much appreciated. Folks have a look at dave's abstracts - they are quite impressive.

John: Thanks for your kind words. I won't forget your willingness to share the Liquify filter with me. I believe that I have grown since participating with PN less than two years ago. I drop by your images once in a while to see if I can render any assistance. Don't forget to get busy with your camera and post-processing - "practice makes perfect". Will drop by soon.

A.K. Sircar , March 31, 2008; 08:44 A.M.

Tony, many thanks for making comment on one of my image. It made me to view your portfolio. You are an artist, who knows how to use colours and light, for achieving aesthetic beauty. For sheer variety of subjects & your technical competence, I offer my heartiest congratulations.

Tony Hadley , March 31, 2008; 08:04 P.M.

A.K.

Thank you for visiting and saying such kind things. I am driven to become a better photographer because as you probably know, there are many more talented photographers at PN than myself.

El Porte-Bonheur , April 02, 2008; 05:24 A.M.

Good morning, Tony

Thank you for stopping by at my portofolio which gave me - in fact - the opportunity to discover and digest your works. Well, it took me quite a while to stroll through your folders but it's absolutely worthwhile! In summary, you present a fine selection of fully fledged photographic art ( forget the 'baby step' you mentioned). I am very impressed how you capture the scenes and moods and how you present them in a quasi narrative manner. Big compliments, Tony, and kind regards from ' warm and sunny' Italy, El.

June Ferrol , April 05, 2008; 06:00 A.M.

Tony,

Your portfolio is full of wonderful images, I can't decide which folder I prefer, I think all of them, so many amazing colours and compositions, I'm glad I found you here and I shall be back for more.

Kind regards

June

Many Thanks and my apologies

I don't get to my portfolio comments very often and now I see that there are many new comments. I really do appreciate the time you have taken to leave your kind words. I have been very busy on a couple of projects and I steal time to be here on PN where I would love to spend more time. Folks, in my early stages here at PN John Plott produced an abstract and he was willing to share his technique and his use of the Liquify filter so I dedicate my Liquify folder to him. John, long vacations are pleasant but now I look forward to some new work. Beautiful images, Good health and Blessings to everyone,

Hi Tony,

Many thanks for your kind words about my Sunset at Sommerton Park. I realy liked what you did with it in Photoshop. As I'm still new to photography (and just moved from the UK to Australia) I havent had much time to get into Photoshop yet. It takes all my time just trying to get a few shots that I'm realy proud of at the moment.

I have been looking at your Portfolio and I must say that it is fantastic. I particularly enjoyed your 'sunset section' . You can be sure that I will be a regular visitor as I think your work is very inspiring.

Many thanks once again,

I really enjoyed my stroll through your gallery today and your landscape work is very beautiful. Your eye for color and shapes within a piece amaze me. Beautiful works!

Peter Blum , August 25, 2008; 02:51 A.M.

Hello Tony,

Thanks for your comments on several of my pictures as well as your kind words on my portfolio.

It gave me the perfect opportunity to visit your gallery. And it took me quite some time - and a joyful ride, through a great amount of interesting, varied and beautiful images.

I love your use of colors - and color play - in your landscapes, seasons, photo art and abstact folders. All very creative and with a personal touch.

Your portraits are wonderful - images of people somehow catch my attention, perhaps because they are my favourite subjects.

Your interesting water shots, with stunning colors and fabulous play of light, are exceptional.

As are your very interesting - as well as amusing - images from Cuba. A country I have long wanted to visit, but never been able to realize.

A very, very enjoyable, varied and beautiful collection of pictures. And alas - you seem to have a keen photographic eye for the small, but important detail.

You have my admiration. Compliments.

And all the best to you

Peter

Raj Nandwana , October 19, 2008; 12:17 P.M.

dear Tony

Firstly, I want to really thank you for sparing your time and sharing your thoughts. what can I say....

Forums are where like minded people gather to learn and share their experience. Young and old, learned and not-learned gather at this venue. When PN was formed, I am sure there were the healthy ideas. Unfortunately the guidelines or systems were not formed because the people at the forum are not equal in their knowledge. Therefore it would be very difficult to implement. In the begining I too made this mistakes - purely unintentionally. At the end of the first year of subscription, I realised that I would wait for some years before I would rejoin this forum as a subscriber.

At one stage, PN informed me that when there were no anon system there were real ugly situations and therefore they came with this one. On the other hand they also suggested that I could also go for `"critique only" situations.

I feel that the new members are not the only ones who contribute this way. There may be some, who may not want their ratings competed and therefore they may also resort to such tactics!

It is very difficult for some people to accept healthy comments and therefore one needs to research and create a group of people, who could also contribute or comment healthily similarly as in the Picture of the week forum.

I have seen your work and i have to admit that I have to learn a lot from your folio. None of your work will qualify for 3 or 4or even 5. I can understand how you feel when your hard work is treated in this manner.

It is also strange that after a couple of weeks, some 3/3 ratings on my latest picture disappeared suddenly!

Lastly, I really appreciate your time and please feel free to comment, which would help me improve my work.

best wishes from Mumbai, India

Hi Tony, thanks for your support and valuable comments. I agree with what you have stated in my 'reflections' image, I wish I had paid a bit more attention at the time of taking it. I haven't even attempted your suggestion in PS CS4 of merging photos (laughs) sounds way too complicated for my current ability level, but something I will play around with. Thanks for the tip. Dear Tony

Thank you very much for your comments on my picture "The Whistler"

If you have had a chance to see the previous version, the background was dark and made the image look messy. The original background was very disturbing and to add some depth this would make sense in my opinion. Further, the T shirt was crisp white on a sunny day and it's a candid shot.If you notice his left is in focus whereas right isnot so the details have been lost. Finally this is already a composit image (EV). I have a print of this and it looks stunning. Fortunately, the above concern are almost diluted in the print. Thanks again for a real input and wishing you and your family a joyous 2009.

Tony

I must say I am at a loss here …. What could I say that hasn’t already been said by those who have visited before me?? Unique, eclectic, powerful, emotional, risky, original, diverse….all these words apply.

A wonderful collection of images; took me awhile to browse through. You my friend seem to have a gift and put this talent to good use behind your lens. I am happy to have been here and will return in the future to see new works.

Thank you for your visits and comments, your words are very much appreciated!

All the best, Pamela

Tony Hadley , January 31, 2009; 10:15 P.M.

I make the excuse each time but PN does not give you any indication that there are new comments on my portfolio so please excuse my lateness in replying. I extend my humble and sincere appreciation for all comments. I don't let them go to my head simply because I know I am on a journey of improving my skills at this thing we call photography and that alone keeps me well grounded. Best wishes and thanks for all of the comments.

Shambhala Wolfhaart , February 06, 2009; 08:10 A.M.

Dear Tony,

Thank you for your comment on my photo of Claire Cordier. I'm glad you recognise my style. If her head was down a little more, it would somewhat distort the proportions of her face, showing a bigger forehead and a smaller chin, which is not pleasing to the eye!

To paraphrase you, I am not a still-life person but your landscape photos are breathtakingly beautiful!! Carry on the good work!

Hi Tony, many thanks for commenting and rating some of my photos. The best way for anyone to learn is to receive comments, critiques and advice from accomplished photographers such as yourself.

Hello Tony. Thank you for visiting my portfolio and leaving comments on it. It is greatly appreciated. Likewise I have viewed a portion of your portfolio. And likewise...you have absolutely wonderful and creative images. Your portfolio far exceeds mine. It will take me a month of Sundays to view your entire gallery. But rest assured...I will view all of it over time. I'm a 62 yr. old geezer who admires good use of Photoshop. In fact I'm downright jealous of your PS talent. Am I too old to learn all that stuff? I'm at a point in which I don't even buy green bananas anymore...if you get my point. So, do I spend my remaining years capturing images...or do I spend the rest of my life trying to understand the poorly written books on how to use PS?

You mentioned that you expected this old hippie to have flowers in his hair. Well, firstly I don't have enough hair to stick a flower in. Secondly, I always thought that I would love to have an old VW "hippie" bus...with flowers and peace signs painted all over it. What I actually ended up with is a Chrysler minivan...no flowers...no peace signs. But a much more comfortable ride for my old ass. Regards from Gary in Salt Lake City

Hi Tony

Thanks for the kind comments on my pictures. I was going to return the favor until I started going thru your portfolio and came to realize I had no idea where to start. You have so many great images its like trying to go to a really nice wine tasting and picking a favorite. I like your HDR work. I have been fiddling with it for a while and its a hit or miss thing. I like the fact you can shot in less than optimal conditions and still come up with a usable image. I appreciated what you said about beauty being in the eye of the beholder. I try not to take the ratings to serious. I think it is easy to get caught up and loose the perspective and the joy of photography. Art shouldn't be competitive, but I think to a degree that's human nature. Take care and thanks again for the input.--Jim T.

Hi Tony, Thankyou for your very kind comment on my Felucca's in Aswan image, having looked at your portfolio an honour indeed for you to stop by. Your imagery and post production work is just excellent. The caribean and fall shots wonderful. In Queensland we do not get the colours of the fall (autumn). I will be back to ponder over your many images. Thanks again Clive

Beautiful, beautiful work!. I am wondering if some of the shots in the Fall section are from the Haliburton area of Ontario? Well done!

Hi Tony

Firstly, thank you for your comments on my photo's! It really is appreciated that you took the time to look through my portfolio and I thought I'd return the compliment. The well deserved comments on your work is accurate testament to your dedication and skill I don't think I have ever seen such a prolific and varied portfolio, you seem to approach photography in a fearless quest of perfection for virtually every aspect of your art, and I admire that greatly. I am as envious of your processing knowledge as I am of the stunning locations you have visited.and I hope to learn more from viewing your work.

Thanks again Tony, your work is inspirational to relative newcomers like myself.

Kind Regards

Alf

Don't Go

Tony, Just read the series of comments on cigar. i didn't want to add to the list there but wanted to say how meaningful your comments and ratings on my shots have been. i find your work to be inspiring and technically strong. I understand your frustrations with the 3/3 ratings and have started looking at the ratings with a certain grain of salt. Usually look at them in toto discounting both some of the low and some of the high ratings. I continue to post for the positve growth people like you can provide through your thoughts and comments. (BTW I did like cigar and disagreed with some of the suggestions. It is an image that canbe worked many ways and yours is well handled.) We all need photographers like you to help us grow. One of your comments indicated you are back and I hope that is so. Keep posting and keep critiqueing. Thanks, - Charles

Thank You

I tried sending this as an e-mail, but I am not sure it went through. Thank you for your comments and suggestions on my Arizona pictures. It is always a pleasure to hear from you and your insights help me to improve. It was indeed a wonderful place to visit and shoot. There seems to be a picture everytime you turn around. It was also a surprise to hear from you on new shots I had just added to my sight. It lets me know that people are looking at my work beyond my requests for cririque. I always consider the input from anyone on my shots, but when they come from someone of your experience and talent they mean even more. Thanks, Charles

Tony, You have an esthetically inspiring portfolio. I noticed you have a folder of water reflections, which I also like to play with from time to time. Years ago I belonged to a photo club where one of the members had a special name for such images. She called them "Wiggle-waggles." I have often joked that such a category should be in P.N. Your wiggle-waggles are especially pleasing.

Tony,

some, many, of your photos are relatively simple, and you manage to find a combination of elements (light, reflections, etc) that combine to produce pleasing images.  I like that kind of photography.  It's easy to go to the mountains and take oooh-aaah photos, but it's not always easy to find photogenic beauty in "everyday" places.  Cheers, Micheal

Hasan Kahin , September 29, 2010; 06:01 A.M.

Hello Tony

Wonderful portfolio.. I admired too much.. But as you said it needs a classification for a neat show. Otherwise to see all those will be hard. I think a conceptual classification is better. I mean, you can classify as "photo.net classification". It is a known classification and easy (of course, you can have slightly different folders and sub classifications). But after so much time with too many images it will be hard for you. But new images may go such folders. (Actually Photo.net may support such a classification: Because while posting we choose the class of image..)

I couldn't get your country. Have good day. Regards. HK

Good Job

Ciao Tony!

It’s a big surprise to find you here on the web with your photos! I think that they are so natural and some of them talk about a lot of feelings that I love, such as motherhood and infancy!

I love the colours too: they’re so shining and true!

Excuse my English, but I must still improve it!

Good Job!

Robert Cannon , November 18, 2010; 10:38 P.M.

Tony

I viewed your portfolio; it is pretty amazing, I hope to someday be as competent as you obviously are. All 6's and 7's. Very impressive. Regards.....Bob

Tony Hadley , November 19, 2010; 11:21 A.M.

Cosmin - I appreciate the time you took to visit my portfolio. thanks.

Robert _ I appreciate the time you took to view and leave a comment. Thanks for the observations re '6' and '7's - that was a year ago or more - now it is '4's and '5's except that I delete the ones that are rated 4. I thought my photography was getting better but perhaps the rating standards have become tougher.

Last year you provided me with a suggestion to crop the sky slightly in my "Tea Leaf Fields" - I was revisiting these comments and I really agree with you - it makes my picture MUCH stronger. I had not even considered doing this - so thank you very much. I also enjoyed looking at your portfolio! Keep it up!

Sally Delacruz , April 07, 2011; 05:13 P.M.

Mabuhay Tony!

I visited again your entire collections ( what you have posted here now...) and I did not realized I started leaving comments since 2007.

I could say I fully enjoyed viewing your labor of love, photography, and that I can say you were doing your best to make us feel good through these magnificent and wonderful views from your travels you shared. You got the gift of artistic photography and the means to produce them beautifully. What I have viewed from your works created the words I said here today. I think a photographer's journey have no bounds and it's endless. You must have spent thousands and thousands of $ and been to many faraway places. Interesting and colorful road, highways and byways your traveling,Tony. In my book that's fulfilling.

Everything in your portfolios are magnificent especially those artistically created and the " vertical mode" collections.... wow! Thanks! and I am glad I visited PN again. Lately I have been using webshots.com just because I can share my collections without altering the size of the pictures -: )

Harsha Herle , April 18, 2011; 12:10 A.M.

Hi Tony,

I have spent hours looking through your collection and I have just completed possibly only half. That is the involvement in your photographs. Your collection is not only an visual treat but also a learning and inspiration for small mortals in photography like me. Among your portfolios, what inspires me the most are on your landscapes (for their composition, skies, reflections) and sunsets ( for their absolute soothing colors and composition).

Also, thanks for visiting my profile and commenting / appreciation on my photographs. I look forward to learn more from you, your collection

Thanks,

Harsha.

Thank you Ed - glad you like my images.

Alan Klein , December 15, 2013; 12:16 P.M.

Tony: I've been following your recent fall photos. They are beautiful like all of your photos. You have a wonderful natural ability to easily capture terrific shots that most would work so hard for and fail to get in the end. You see stuff all around that you then paint into your camera that most people would just walk right by totally oblivious to the beauty that's right there. Maybe it is spiritual. Alan.

Philip Carlo Jorgensen , December 17, 2013; 01:16 P.M.

Tony - I don't know by which authority - but I hereby appoint you to be "Master of The Saturated Color". You have some truly beautiful shots here, and the rich colors and clairity always play a central role. I love it!
Warm greeting from Denmark!

Beautiful

Tony,
Your portfolio is amazing. You have tackled so many subjects in your work and so very thoughtfully and successfully. I don't believe you just snap the shutter, "you think it through" before snapping. That is a quality I appreciate most in photographer/artists.

Just discovered this old portfolio in your "gallery." I really enjoyed the creative vision.
