I like your portfolio and your ideas. It is good to find such a creative photographer... I was amazed to see that your ratings are bellow 4. I find that totally ridiculous. For me, that just shows how unreliable the ratings from Photo.Net can be... Aestethics may be very subjective but nobody can say that you are not original. This has probably been discussed extencivelly on the forums, but you always find that a lot of average pictures get good ratings. Inovative pictures are badly rated because they do not present a visual cliche. If you dont believe me, try posting a picture of a poppy and all the dog lovers will skyrocket your ratings ;-)
I'll be happy to see more of your work in the future. Regards, Alejandro

Hey, I really liked your images when they were up. Hope you post some more soon. Your stark simple landscapes were refreshing. Its hard to pull off that type of shot and keep it interesting. Its a genre that will likely not get much attention from the rank and file here on this site. If you haven' noticed, the masses prefer sunsets and naked women (but not too naked)! I'm trying to do simpler, more abstract things and hopefully some of them work as well as yours.

Thorir. Your work is really eye-catching. Your composition is unique and fresh, and it catches my attention.

Dear Sir
You are a menace to photography...hell, why stop there, a menace to ART in general. We have asked you repeatedly to discontinue urinating on the columns of the temple, yet you persist. Be advised we have sent the ART police to confiscate your cameras and to collect and publicly BURN any and all images produced by your obviously fevered and confused mind. You are further instructed to disregard any laughter your "photographs" may have engendered. You should know, sir, that people are laughing AT you and not WITH you. Disgustedly, Finepix P. Sureshot, Assistant Director General In Charge Of Proper Photography, National Academy Of The Assosciation Of Accredited Professional Photographers (NAAAPP)
ps: And what about that "biography"? "What a mess, must clean. (?) What is THAT supposed to mean?

First of all I must say your ever changing portfolio is one of the most consistent and coherent? ones around, and now I will comment on one photo that is no longer here. The was a photo whose title was moare or less like " sometimes the only person who returns your glance is the man on the mirror" I dont know how well I remember it, but had me thinking a lot on a period of my life(the wild years) when I ended the night at some club or bar looking at the bathroom mirror and wondering what the hell I was doing there(often drunk). Now when I get off work I look at my mirror and think I looked a lot better in those days. The work will do me more harm than the alcohol.... Sorry if I seem pathetic, but your tittle made me melancolic...If you want I will delete this.
Thorir Vidar , February 04, 2006; 04:51 A.M.
@mario
thanks mario.
about the pic you're referring to, its title - "...a place where the only one who returns your glance is the guy in the bathroom mirror - was borrowed (ok, stolen) from one jack mcritchie, - you know the one. i link all too well to what you're saying though, we must be getting old huh..!!

Dear Thorir,
I'm really trying to avoid a 'i'll scratch your back because you scratched mine' situation here...
Fact of the matter is, that if someone put such nice words about my portfolio, I'll check out his/hers to find out if it makes sense and if our work show any signs of similarity.
With all due respect to all the users of Photo.net, I rarely find a portfolio here that brings out a feeling of recognision, awe and yes, even a little envy.
I didn't really have to look close up to your photo's: the first glare of your portfolio brought that feeling. Ofcourse I've looked at the bigger pictures after that and was not disappointed. Just to point out the strenght of your images. I would really, really like to exchange thoughts with you, because what you wrote ("a really, really sad smile")left me intrigued. It is goosebump-giving when I make a picture of a piece of grass which I found sad. It's exremely rare that someone picks up that feeling, do you know what I mean? Or were you sad of other reasons. Please drop me a line, or write in my portfolio.
Regards and so,
Rick

Total mistery
This portfolio is a total mistery to me. I read very intence harsh critics and passionate appreciation on pictures that are no longer displayed. And my curiosity increases every time I come back to see it, and find it even more confusing. I refrein from rating any of the pictures of expressing "technical comment". But I really would like to see some old pics reposted,
cheers,
Marco

Great work Thorir. I'm a psychologist and I'm always intrigued by people who seem to be "obsessed" with a certain theme or idea. To me it seems you've found an unique and very original artistic approach to the mundane. Very inspiring! (Thank you also for commenting on one of my photos) Regards Andreas

wonderful
hi friend! Thanks for your comments! I still havent found what I m looking for but I m on the right road I think. About your work I think you have got something indeed. Something precious I see. A feeling one can almost touch. These lonely places, that silence all around but with a strong inner tension.
I think you have found your own way and this is a great way to do photos. And I m very proud of your good comments about me.

Well Thorir, the task of posting opinions is another way to meet new photographers, now I'm watching your portfolio, and I'm very interested. Strange, different point of view, desaturated, dark sometimes, but with a "leit motiv" in first place: the land, the sea and the nostalgia. You're curious and I guess you're not too much affected by the opinion of the others, you transmit curiosity with your photos. Your work is the evidence of exploration but just in a very defined, accurate direction. BTW, the site linked in your homepage (The Online Photographer) isn't the saddest true, is the most hilarious true (hey!, does it exists?)
Ksenija Spanec , December 22, 2006; 01:08 P.M.
Thorir, your immages are so, so simple! But in the same time so, so interesting...and I cannot explain what makes them so special... different... from anything I have seen so far.

Hello Friend!
Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.
I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.
Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Thorir,
I have visited your portfolio earlier a couple of times, but first today I was in right mood (rainy, windy weather outside) to manage to penetrate the seemingly not so easily accessible work of yours. You know, your work is kinda whispering. Eventually pleased I now spotted several photos that were enjoy to study, naturally starting with those I'd loved to be proud author of. May I add that I lived in Norway in 76-85 and had a memorable period of my life filled with photography.
