Valerie, yes the name of the volcano is Arenal, when did you visit CR? Very nice portfolio once again.Regards

Juan, I was in CR in the mid 90's. Look in the comment section of your portfolio for details. LaFortuna is a beautiful place, as is all of Costa Rica's countryside. The underground caves, the cloud mountains, it is a landscape of great diversity and great beauty, a wonderful place for photography.

Hello there!!! You know something, you are a very brave woman, going to the Arenal in those days was not something I would like to do. But you did it, thank you for coming to my portfolio, I will try to have some pictures of the caverns of La Fortuna.

Juan, Arenal was a beauty, and worth the effort. As to bravery, you know what they say about the "ignorance of youth!" I guess this was more following bliss than bravery. This will always be a memorable trip. Thanks for your note and,
Best to you,
Valerie

Valerie, your fulsome praise made me blush - I really doubt that I'm as good as you say. This is an excellent portfolio. Architecture Photography is very dear to me because of its infinite variety and its ready access. You have some fine work here (particularly the Delicate Ironwork) and I'm looking forward to seeing much more.

There is a simplicity to your pictures that is both disarming and charming. I'm not going to lie to you that your portfolio is the most stunning or original I've seen here at pnet, but this is not a slight in the least bit. I number among those I respect and find interesting both the technomasters and the honest pluggers whose curiousity at the things around them move them to pick up a camera and snap away. I, too, began like that, and have fought a loss of that spirit over the years.
All I ask of you is not to lose that innocence and joie de vivre as you chase the latest fad here at this site of ours. Your most moving pictures to me are your most no-frills pictures, your post-Katrina pictures, your quiet pictures of the banners hanging at 1600 Pennsylvannia Avenue, images our supposed free media pretend do not exist as they trumpet and cheer one war after another. Last, but not least, of course, are your portraits, those wonderful, fun celebration of those around you, those who give you your essence.
The technique will improve--oh yes, it will--but the essence, the substance of you as an artist and a human being--has always been there, and something tells me, will always be there.

Amanda Ferrell , May 06, 2007; 06:05 P.M.
Hey again. I just read the one you put on my main page. Yeh I try to have the most fun as possible. Alot of photographers around here are so stiff and just to the point, and don't really allow you to have fun during your day. And especially your wedding day, you want to remember everything. I try to make them laugh, and try to capture the true emotion behind every picture. I know of course some have to be posed, so I try to change it up a bit, and not be so standard as everyone else. ha!! I will have to say weddings have been my absolute favorite, and luckily I have met some wonderful brides and their families along the way. I have 4 more coming up so I am excited, but at the same time going to be E X H A U S T E D...ha!! No, but I will enjoy every moment. Have you done any weddings yet? I think I did see a few on there...well keep in touch...talk to you soon, and thanks again.

Hi Valerie
Tnx for stopping by and for your comments:
* Your analysis of the p.n rating system is just about the best I have read so far - it makes good sense. I will refer 'constant moaners' in future to your page.
* What I gather from your photos is that you must enjoy life in abundance - as the portfolio shows (except of course when Katrina hits).
Best and keep up the good work.

Dear Valerie, Saturday night, the 8th of December, my wife and I, had a big incident with our car (head-on collision), and we are alive for miracle: anyway, these not good moments, become also good moments! indeed, in these occasions, we can understand that life is so breakable, for not being happy every day to awaken, drink a coffee, to smile, to make love and other simple things, to meet people and, why not, to do photographs!
For doing these things we don?t need a lot of money and power: we need only our life and the capacity for surprise of simple things.
I have had a big gift, for this Xmas and the New Year, that is to say, I?m alive! and now, I know, I?ll love more life!
My dear friend! I wish to you the same thing, namely, the ability to transform the accidents of life in happiness to live better and to give the proper value to your life and to that of other! Also if I know you are a special person!
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!....Ciaomau!
