Hello Friend!
Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.
I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. Announcement
We are saddened to announce that Dr. Youqin Eugene Xie passed away on Tuesday, June 30, at 3:45 pm at City of Hope Hospital, Los Angeles after more than nine months of courageous fight against lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, a 14 years old daughter and an 8 years old son.
Dr. Eugene Xie was born on April 15, 1964 in Ningdu County, Jiangxi Province of China. He entered Jiangxi University at the tender age of 14 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry while he was only 18 years old. He earned his Master degree in Chemistry from Jinan University, Guangzhou, China in 1985, and became a faculty member at Southern China Normal University as a lecturer upon his graduation.
Dr. Eugene Xie came to the United States in 1987 to pursue advanced studies and completed his Ph.D. degree at University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 1991. Later he continued his post-doctoral research work for one year at California Institute of Technology. Dr. Eugene Xie also held an MBA degree from Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California.
In 1992, he joined as an R & D scientist specializing in electrochemistry and system development at Beckman Coulter, where he worked until two months before his death. He was a center manager at Beckman then.
Dr. Eugene Xie was an outstanding and prolific amateur photographer with an overwhelming enthusiasm that had traveled to the far parts of the western United States. He captured natural beauties of the vast American Southwest with his camera and his artistic eye. His photographs graced many international journals of photography and online publications. His portfolio here had also received raving reviews and admiration world-wide.
As a much consoling reward to Dr. Eugene Xie for a lasting and exciting photographic undertaking, his first and last photo-book "Trekking American West" reached his hands only days before he passed away. This book is a collection of his photographs and is accompanied by his eloquent writings on his feelings and thoughts about the printed body of work.
