converting maxxum lens to use with a300/a350 body

Dick DeMars , Mar 08, 2009; 06:41 p.m.

Have a working maxxum 7000 with AF Maxxum 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5 and AF Maxxum 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 (Big Beercan)
Question: Will the a300 or a350 digital body work with these lens? Are there pros and cons to using these lens? Would like to upgrade because of the benefits of digital over film.
thanks in advance for any help.
Dick

Hi Dick,

You do not need to upgrade or convert this lens in anyway. It will fit straight on your A3x0 body and work as it should. The only downside with using film era lenses it the occational problem with flare or glare, but this generally isn't a problem at all.

Enjoy your photography.

All generations of Minolta/Maxxum AF lenses and a vast majority of accessories will work on the Alpha series cameras. I have the same lens and use it on a Alpha 100,2- 700si bodies and a 7000i all with great results There is also a great site for Minolta/Sony users http://www.dyxum.com that has ratings on lenses and various equipment for alpha users. Hope this helps Phil

Thank you both for the quick response. I will press on with the information and join the digital age.

If you can afford it I would go for the A700. I have the A200 and it is great but the A700 is the best of the APS-C Sony dSLRs in low light. The A350 is meant to be quite good in well lit conditions but is noisy in low light conditions.
