Alright, let's see what you shot last month! This thread is for:
- Showing off your work
- Posting as much as you like
- Commenting on each others photos (be nice!)
Let's give those Nikon and Canon weekly threads a run for their money. Image hosting is available on your Photo.net account of course, or on many easy, no-account-needed services like www.imageshack.us
Here are the old threads for your perusal:
Even in August, there are still a few late summer blooms to shoot. This dahlia may be ordinary, but I love that vibrant purple color!

Next up I've got this mountain view from my tour through the lava fields outside of Sisters, OR. Now that's a lava field!

ISO: 200 / Shutter: 1/800 sec / Focal Length: 35 mm / F-number: f/9 / Flash: No Flash / Sony DSLR-A500

Forest fire! Yeah a lot of this area was burned pretty badly around ten years ago. But it's coming back...

I've seen this shot before, but I had to duplicate it! Clear Lake does live up to its name sake. The nice thing is they don't allow motors on any of the boats, so it stays that way.

ISO: 200 | Shutter: 1/320 sec | Focal Length: 18 mm | F-number: f/10 | Flash: No Flash | Sony DSLR-A500

OK Last one - this is another Clear Lake shot, but from a much different angle, making a much more 'lagoon-like' appearance:

Excellent landscapes Left, your a500 handles the blue sky and water tones really well! Were these all shot with the 18-55?
In August I spent more photo time on the coast and away from the inland summer heat. Malibu Lagoon turned out to be an excellent place for capturing Black Skimmers in action - unfortunately I also found out that it's the only place on the west coast with a thriving population of chiggers in permanent residence...itchyyy even a month later!

In the last week of August I decided to weather the heat and go check out Chino Hills State Park, which looked completely parched but turned out to have lots of friendly creatures waiting for me...
...and some less friendly ones too! a700 w Vivitar 90 f2.8 macro in m42 mount, iso 800 and probably f8-ish

Out of curiosity I also spent quite some time checking out pawn shops in the area for any interesting 35mm bodies or lenses. It turns out the local ones around Riverside and adjacent towns won't take film gear anymore. But I did find an X700 in the downtown pawn shop that seemed to be working properly and went for $40, which they said was part of the last ever 35mm lot they accepted. So I got it and tried it out with my Kiron 28 f2 on some local scenery (both shot with Fuji Xtra 400).
Looks like an analog timepiece...but is it really?

It turned out to work just fine! Too bad I'll have to do my future pawn shop browsing closer to LA...
