Hotels

by Philip Greenspun,

By general agreement among the guidebooks and residents, the Due Torri Hotel Baglioni is the best in town. In the 14th century, the site contained a guesthouse for the ruling Scaligeri family. Subsequently, it was an inn that served Mozart, Goethe, various monarchs, and Garibaldi. The present structure was built in 1958 and is ideally situated in the center of all the tourist attractions. The Due Torri is grand in myriad peculiar ways, though I never did figure out the rationale behind the decor. It is always luxurious but different styles and periods are exhibited in different areas. Guest rooms are filled with beautiful antiques, firm American-style beds, and up-to-date electronics and bathrooms (in marble and gold). All the services you'd expect of a five star hotel, including a elegant restaurant (friendly service; prices commensurate with quality) and sumptuous breakfast buffet. Hotel Due Torri Baglioni, Piazza Sant'Anastasia 4, 37100 Verona, tel (045) 59 50 44, fax 800 41 30.

I have visited Verona and I stayed there only one night. For Italy hotels I suggest this website. But Bear in mind: Rome and Tuscany cannot be missed out! For Rome hotels i suggest this guide. For Tuscany hotels try this. I hope this help.
